Watched the new Superman movie and also someone left Kudos on my Non-standard dynamics TimKon omegaverse fic where I implied Kon was actually a Clex baby instead of a clone. So finally wrote the conversation of Clark confronting Lex about it I’ve only been promising for years now.
More comic based than movie based but like the movie is why I wrote it.
Also, man picking the year of Kon’s conception made me feel old as hell.
What do you think Conner's reaction would be to finding Tim with two little babies held protectively to his chest in the middle of a LoA base?
Does he immediately assume the babies are his, like Kon isn't dumb, can he see how one baby has his deep blue eyes and the other his freckles? Or does he assume Tim found these babies and is trying to save them, or maybe even Tim had them with someone else?
I also think that Tim would condemn himself and beg/demand for Kon to take his boys and save them, forget about Tim, he's done so many awful things, but his babies are innocent! Kon just rolls his eyes, used to Tim's self sacrificing nature, and grabs all three of them before flying back to safety, maybe going straight to Gotham or Titans Tower
Eventually tho, no matter what, I can see Kon being a Very Good dad, like very doting and protective and soft, even if he doesn't quite get with the program at first, ya know?
Kon's very first assumption is going to be Tim found the babies. Bats tend to have the odd luck of often ending up with rescued babies in their possession and this very much feels like that (even if he has a lot of questions about how those babies ended up where they are - honestly probably ends up with a weird human sacrifice theory).
If Tim could see a way to get himself out as well he would take it. But he does definitively prioritise getting the babies out with Kon. He'll be fine (and probably wants to rain some hell onto Ra's) and even if he's not that's fine as well.
Kon is a lot more of the mindset that they're getting them all out of here, no he doesn't care what Tim's thoughts on that are. Kon has missed him and fuck whatever mission Tim's doing here he can take a break and also explain where these babies came from and what they're meant to be doing with them. (He's going to be very surprised to learn they came from Tim and that Tim at least is going to be raising them).
One of the things about Kon is that he doesn't really have long-term goals for his civilian identity (partially because he doesn't have one for the first few years). So it's very easy to see him becoming the House Spouse to Tim's Corporate Climber. Add in two babies and, yeah, it's easy to see Kon throwing himself into being the Best Dad Possible. A bit fumbly and almost comedic at first but once he's got it he's got it and there's probably a fair few in their greater social circle that are very jealous of Tim.
Files this away in “panels I probably shouldn’t have access to”
I can honestly see Ras finding a way to get his hands on at least one of Tim's twins and hold them hostage, using them as leverage against Tim
And maybe this changes everything, like Ras let's Tim help in finding Bruce, but he forces Tim to stay close to his side if he wants to keep his kids safe, and so Tim never gets to go back to Gotham and go through all that drama and stress of saving "everyone Bruce loves" and taking control of WE (which Ras doesn't feel the need to take bc Tim can't reasonably blow up the LoA bases like he does in canon when Ras has his sweet, innocent little baby locked away somewhere, maybe even both the babies by now)
How long do you think it would take anyone to figure out that Tim is with Ras, held against his will? Bc I can see Bruce returning and being the one to initiate the rescue to save Tim, or I can see Kon follow Tim's heartbeat, desperate to save his bf (if they're even dating at this point)
Ra's is going to use every advantage he can get in order to get and maintain control over Tim and those two babies would just be too obvious of a way to get that. And Tim is so busy trying to get Bruce back, again without any of his old support system, that it wouldn't be that hard for Ra's to be able to get one of them.
Of course that's just going to magnify Tim's guilt about the whole situation. And a guilty Tim is a self-destructive Tim. So I could see him doing something very self-destructive to try and rescue his babies and at least get them back to Gotham (or even just the superhero community generally - somewhere they will be safe from Ra's) even if it's not as risky as he did.
Conner doesn't even need to be dating Tim to be listening for his heartbeat. That's just what he does generally canonically (if I remember correctly). And after coming back from the dead it's something I could see him doing to try and 'ground' himself again - make sure Tim's okay by checking on his heartbeat. Funnily enough I think at first he wouldn't be stressed hearing Tim's heart coming from the middle of nowhere - Tim is a superhero. And missions take you all over the world. It's when the heart beat doesn't come home and he starts hearing from others that, yeah, nobody's heard from Tim for a while that he starts worrying.
Thing is all that could still just be 'Tim's gone on some deep-cover mission' which happens, rarely, but it does happen. I still think Conner would go find him because he misses him after being dead and wants to make sure Tim hasn't gone into a bad headspace after everything that happens. Which then ends up as an impromptu rescue mission (with no backup) after he realises what's actually happening.
My mpreg and omegaverse addicted ass is taking this phrasing and running with it.
Or: this reads like a line from one of my fics.
So I’m in The Monthly Mood(TM) and my brain keeps supplying me with ideas of John Constantine having to do some sympathetic magic spell that involves him going through a full pregnancy and birth for reasons.
You know - all the pregnancy and birth suffering without having to actually give him a child.
Damian gets annoyed when people point it out but he definitely took to Dick as a comfort. It's not uncommon if Dick is around for Damian to be right with him. This is how Damian managed to be the one to realize Dick is pregnant. He smells the very faint start of his scent changing. Kid probably is a but jealous, whether it's because he'll have to share his omega brother with another kid or what depends on the universe, lol.
Oh Damian so hates when people point out how much he clearly sees Dick as a comforting presence. Damian is an Al Ghul who was raised and trained in the League of Assassin, he doesn’t crave an omega parental figure’s softness. He respects Dick as Bruce’s second in command and someone worthy of the Batman mantle that’s it. The fact he gravitates to being near Dick whenever Dick is around is just a holdover from when he was Robin to Dick’s Batman and that’s it. The fact he only does it to Dick and much less so Bruce despite currently being Robin to Bruce’s Batman of course is circumstantial evidence and proves nothing.
Of course everyone else knows the truth. They just also know pointing it out gets a very angry Damian spitting at them about how they’ve misread the situation, Damian isn’t so weak like that, etc, etc.
I agree that Damian would likely figure it out first seeing he’s the one most familiar with Dick’s scent and the most likely to be close enough to Dick to notice the scent change (within the Batfam).
And then the really complicated emotions hit Damian. Because he thinks it shouldn’t bother him. Dick isn’t his parent, isn’t his blood relative, it shouldn’t matter to Damian that he’s pregnant. Other than the fact it means they’ll have to protect Gotham without Nightwing’s help, which itself isn’t that big of a deal weeing NIghtwing isn’t bound to Gotham and so often isn’t around to help out because he’s off dealing with other problems. But Damian does find that he doesn’t like the fact that Dick is having a child of his own (something that is very, very, clearly something Dick is excited about).
And Because Damian refuses to acknowledge the real reason he’s so attached to Dick and has the emotional processing skills of the average Bat he... absolutely ties his anxiety and dislike about the situation to the fact Dick can’t be Nightwing for about a year and blows up about it.
Also he hates whoever the sire of the child is.
Everyone knows the real reason Damian is extra defensive and angry about it. Including Dick. But Dick was also bracing for some negative pushback over it (more from Bruce though) and already has his arguments ready that is absolutely is using on Damian now and it probably gets a bit tense between them for a little.
They sort it out eventually and they probably can more acknowledge the fact their relationship probably sat more as parental than siblings and is probably more healthy for it. Sure, Damian still feels somewhat conflicted about it and his response (and probably still really doesn’t like the sire - whoever they are they’re not good enough for Dick), but it’s better.
