THAT moment from Saturday night, during the Santa Clara Vanguard victory run. Apologies for the weird perspective; was trying to keep the row in front of us out of the shot. Hope this keeps your post tour blues at bay for another little while.
Numbers You Need To Know For DCI Finals
.512 - The gap between the 1st place Blue Devils and 2nd place Vanguard
8 - Number of times the 1st place corps at Prelims/Semis did not outright win at Finals (1972, 1974, 1978, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2008, & 2015), so around 18% of the time.
1.4 - The largest margin jumped by a championship winner since the change from the tick system in the 80s, done by Phantom in 1996 when they went from 3rd to 1st.
.375 - The largest margin jumped by a corps that did not tie for 1st, again by Phantom, but in 2008.
1.0 - The margin between BD and SCV at Semis in 1999. Vanguard of course closed the gap and tied the Devils on Finals night.
.5 - The gap between Cadets and Cavaliers in 2000, the last time there was a tie for the championship.
.15 - The difference between Crown and BD after Semis in 2015, the most recent example of a group making the leap.
