Just A Dream

I decided to write this for a fellow Twitter mutual who’s a Dickkory fan. I know this recent film did our beloved ship dirty, and this can also help the rest of you Dickkory fans feel better. There is some angst, but the ending will definitely be worth it :) Also this is my second time writing Dickkory, and I’m still becoming confident in writing them.

Destruction. Lots and lots of destruction.

The Titans Tower was completely destroyed. The team were outnumbered and half of them slaughtered to the point you couldn’t recognize their bodies. Dick has yet to see Kory, not since the fight first broke out. If he was being honest, he didn’t want to find the love of his life body dismembered, but he needed to know.

He runs around the tower searching for his girlfriend.

“Starfire!?” His heart was hammering against his chest when he doesn’t hear a response back. “KORY!”

He turns the corner and the sight in front of him makes his stomach turn violently. Kory’s body was ripped in half and, her internal organs leaking out of her body.

“KOOORRRY!” Dick screams in agony as he fall on his knees.

Dick shots up from his sleep, breathing heavenly. Sweat clinging to his body.

It was just a dream. A terrible one at that.

Kory. Oh, god Kory!

He reaches his hand out to feel for his princess, and he thanks his lucky stars, and it comes into contact with her back and the warmth it brings.

Dick sighs in relief. She was safe and alive, sleeping soundly next to him. Kory turns her body, facing in his direction. She opens her eyes, blinking the sleep out of them. Her green eyes, bright and beautiful even in the dark, meet his blue ones.

“Dick?” The tears she saw in his eyelids set off her protective girlfriend instincts.

She sits up, fully awake now.

“Dick, honey, what’s wrong?

He wipes away his tears away. “It was just a dream.” He looks at her with apolegetic eyes. “I’m sorry for waking you, baby.” He moves to get up, but she grabs his arm to keep him in place. She gently grabs his face and turn his head to face her.

“Dick, please, you’re obviously in distress. I want to help you. Please talk to me.”

Damn it. Sometimes he forgot how well she could read him, and the look in her eyes that held concern and protectiveness made him break.

He takes a shaky breath. “.....You were murdered. Horribly. I-I couldn’t do nothing about it.” He felt the tears building up in his eyes again. “I couldn’t do nothing about it Kory. I couldn’t save you!”

“Oh, honey,” she pulls him into her arms, and Dick gratefully accepts. She feels his body tremble as he cries and let out his emotions.

Dick clings to Kory like his life depended on it. She was his anchor to reality.

Kory pets his hair and rub soothing circles on his back.

“Whatever you saw wasn’t real.” She press a kiss on his head. “I’m right here with you and safe. You’re safe. I can’t stop the dreams that haunt you, but I can remind you that your dreams don’t define the life you have in front of you.”

She pulls away and cups his face, wiping away the remaining of his tears. She kiss his lips and lean her head against his.

“What matters is the life you have right now. No dream can nor will change that for you.”

Dick smiles at that, his heart feeling less heavy. He kisses her soft lips and look at her with so much love.

“Thank you, my love. Truly.”

Kory gives him a brilliant smile. “You know I’m always be here to reassure you when you feel uncertain.”

Dick was going to lean in for another kiss when he heard small pitter patter heading towards their bedroom The door opens and reveal a little girl with a mop of black curls on her head and bright green eyes that match the ones of the women he loves with all his heart.

“Mommy! Daddy!”

Dick pulls away and smile at his daughter. “Starshine, what are you doing up?”

“Yes, you should be sleeping young lady,” Kory scolds her gently.

Mar’i climbs on their bed and wobble towards them. She sits down between her parents.

“I couldn’t sleep.” Mar’i looks at her parent with big puppy dog eyes and a cute little pout. “Can I sleep with you, Mommy and Daddy?”

Kory pushes back her curls. “Of course, my princess.”

“You’re always welcome to sleep with us.” Dick picks up his little girl and throw her in the air and catch her. And repeat.

“EEEH! Daddy! Fly! Fly!” Mar’i scream in delight. Dick laughs and start to blow raspberries on her stomach. Their daughter’s laughter fill their room.

Kory smile as she watch both of her hearts play together.

“Ok, it’s time to settle down now.”

Mar’i’s laughs die down and her father kisses all over before laying her down between him and Kory. She gets comfortable while Dick pulls the comfortable over her. Kory push her bangs back and leans down to kiss her forehead. Her little girl gives her a kiss back.

“Goodnight, my little princess. Sleep tight.”

“Night mommy.”

Dick plants one more kiss against her head. “Goodnight, Starshine. I love you...so much.” He looks at Kory who smiles warmly at him. “We both love you so very much.”

Mar’i returns the same sentiment. “Night Daddy. I love you and mommy too.”

Yeah, no dream could take this away from him.

I’m watching “The Death of Superman” and it took me a minute to get used to the voice acting, but this is the best goddamn Superman I’ve ever seen

A Lazy Saturday

Note: This is my first time writing DickKory, but I really had fun writing this. Also this take place in the DC Animated movie universe, specifically after TT: Judas Contract. 

Dick and Kory were taking advantage of their day off by cozying up on the couch with blankets and eating snacks while binging Disney films. It was Kory’s choice, but Dick didn’t mind. All he wanted to do was spend some much needed quality time with her, no matter what they did.

They were currently watching Tangled. Dick was laid out across the couch, his back leaning against the armrest. Kory lay between his legs comfortably, her head resting on his chest and a large fluffy blanket spread out on top of them. The heat radiating from her hair was soothing against his chest. Dick has his fingers tangle in his girls’ fiery red curls as he gently massage her scalp.

“Mm, my love, that feels wonderful.”

“Oh, yeah?” He smiles down at her.

She looks up at him, bright green eyes meeting his ocean blue ones.

She smiles, “Mhm.”

Dick leans down and press his lips against her soft plump ones in a sweet kiss.

He pulls back and smiles that handsome boyish smile she loves so much.

“I’m glad, baby.”

Kory graces him with a wide toothly smile that is so bright and just so Kory. It made his heart swell so goddamn much that he thought it was going to burst.

Kory snorts and pokes his nose with a little “boop”. “You’re staring, my love,” smirking at him.

He gives her a smirk of her own. “Can you blame me? I have intergalactic goddess in my lap, so it’s hard not to stare.”

Oh, and Dick definitely took pride at how his girls’ cheeks turn a roses color from his compliment.

Kory couldn’t stop the smile growing on her face and turns her attention back to the film. Dick laughs lightly and turn his attention to the Tv as well. His hands find hers and interlace their fingers together. He felt so at peace with Kory in his arms watching a cheesy Disney film in the comfort of their home.

Dick cherishes a slow and lazy day like this. It was a rarity that he got to take in his busy life and enjoy the quiet moments. He’s lucky to have his girlfriend to remind him to take a break and relax.

God, he was so grateful for Kory. She is what he needed in his life. When he was always busy going between helping his girlfriend with the Titans and Gotham, she kept him grounded and remind him that he has as life outside the mask.

He loved her for that.

Dick looks down at this wonderful woman, his woman with so much love and happiness in his eyes.

“Hey, Kory?”

She peers up at him behind her lashes. “Hm.”

“I love you.”

Kory smiles at him sweetly. Then she let go of his hands and turns around to face him, propping up on her knees. She cups his face in her hands, and lean her forehead against his.

“I love you too, my darling. Unconditionally.”

She closes the rest of the distance and captures his lips with hers’ in a long passionate kiss.
