I know you said you applied a few times before being accepted into the DCP. How far along did you get in the application process each time?

The first time I made it to the web-based interview and then was no longer in consideration (NLIC) directly after I finished the last question. 

Second time I submitted my application and got an email saying I was NLIC’d soon after. 

Third time I made it all the way to the phone interview and was accepted just over two weeks later for Main Entrance Ops.

I’m in the middle of the application process for DCP Fall 2018 Advantage. I had my phone interview today and plan on auditioning for a character role on March 8th. hi!! I'm applying to the DCP for my first time this month! do you have any suggestions or advice about the process that you wish you were aware of your first time applying? :)

Yay! That’s so exciting! 

My best advice would probably be to make sure you don’t limit yourself to just a couple roles. If you think there is a chance that you would accept a role if offered, at least put medium or low interest. You will have a better chance of being accepted this way. HOWEVER, if you feel as though you could not do a role or would not enjoy it at all, please put no interest. They will put you in a low or medium interest role if they really need people to fill those spots. 

My first program I was accepted for Main Entrance Operations, which I had marked medium interest, and ended up working parking at Downtown Disney. They needed a LOT of people, so several college program kids that put any interest at all in Main Ops got put here. The job was pretty good at first, but then it got progressively worse as the Disney Springs construction grew. But I had absolutely amazing coworkers that made it enjoyable and several became my best friends. So while it wasn’t my top choice, I don’t regret getting placed there. 

Basically, don’t be too stingy about your roles, but also don’t put high interest for every single one either. Be honest, but open.

When do you suggest somone applies, certainly not the first day, right? Getting stuck in submission is kind of my worst fear

I don’t really think the day matters, but I would say the sooner the better. It’s easier to just get the application process done and out of the way. You never quite know how long you’ll be in submission. After my first phone interview, I was accepted just a little over a week afterwards and on my second one, it took three weeks before I was accepted. Yes it is torture to just sit there and stalk your email, but it’ll be worth it. 

And please!!! If you do not make it the first time, KEEP TRYING! It took me applying three times before I got accepted and it wasn’t even for my top role!

So I originally planned to apply for Fall 2017 but after some thinking.. do you think it would be beneficial to apply for Spring 2017 & see how far I get in the process/learn from my first experience? If I do get in Spring, though, I feel like I will end up going & that may not work well with school... Can I reject the offer without it effecting me next time around? Thanks in advance

I guess the best answer for this is that if you end up having to reject the offer, it will not look bad on you the next time you apply. The process can take weeks and I feel as though Disney understands that things can change within that time period that prevent you from being able to accept your offer.

Applying as soon as apps are available: yes or no?

I've heard that it's good, that it could lead to a technical glitch, that you'll find out sooner, that you're more likely to be NLIC.... basically, every possible outcome. 

So, I'm curious! Does anyone have strong opinions about whether applying the first day is something you would recommend? Or should you wait until later?  Talk to me!

hi! i have a question about the DCP application process. I applied on January 13th and now it's the 31st and I've gotten no emails other than then application submission confirmation! Do I have a chance?

There’s always a chance until you get a rejection email. There’s no specific amount of time the application process takes; it all depends on how many applications they’re getting and how much time they have to schedule interviews and everything. Stay strong!
