I know you said you applied a few times before being accepted into the DCP. How far along did you get in the application process each time?

The first time I made it to the web-based interview and then was no longer in consideration (NLIC) directly after I finished the last question. 

Second time I submitted my application and got an email saying I was NLIC’d soon after. 

Third time I made it all the way to the phone interview and was accepted just over two weeks later for Main Entrance Ops.

Hey! I want to apply for the Fall DCP, and I was wondering how the phone interview usually goes. Could you for me some insight about what it's like, what they ask or talk about, and maybe what they are looking for in terms of an applicant? Please respond whenever you can. Hello! Having done 2 phone interviews I like to think that I’m pretty well versed in it haha. Both of my PI (phone interviews) went about the same way. The interviewer calls, asks if you are ready to begin and then goes over the information that you put on your initial application. After that the interviewer will ask about previous work that you have done. My most recent PI we spent most of the interviewing talking about my previous work and I was asked about how I handled specific situations. After you’re done talking about previous work the interviewer will ask you role specific questions, and you gets these questions based on roles that you put interest on(*TIP: during your initial application write down all roles you put any kind of interest in so when you are preparing you don’t miss any!) A lot of the questions you may be asked can be found online and I’ll link a master list that I’ve used in the past at the bottom! The role specific questions are pretty easy as long as you are well prepared. Then you will be asked about your top roles. But something to keep in mind is that in my first PI I was asked what top roles I wanted, whereas in my second one I was asked which top 3 I was qualified for. So just have your answers prepared for which ever way they ask. Then they finish as all interviews do, with the interviewer asking if you have any questions. Make sure you have a question ready! The go to question that people ask is “How did you get your start with the Disney Company?” BUT be cautious with this question because during the Spring 2017 PI’s many people said they asked that question and were told something along the lines of the interviewer not wanting to talk about it. So have a question ready about the program!

Make sure you have done research into the program before applying! Getting the WBI (web based interview) isn’t a guarantee. The rumor is that the system looks for key words in your application, no one knows what those words are. So make sure you are taking your time and writing thoughtful responses to the questions and your previous work descriptions.

Prepare! Have answers to possible questions ready in short bullets. Short bullets help you remember what you wanted to respond with but doesn’t sound forced like you are reading from a script.

Relax! My first PI was a bit of a mess because I was so nervous and my voice was shaky the entire time. Sit down, take a deep breath, and relax. The interviewers are so sweet and want you to do well.

And final tip is to take to YouTube, I’m not sure why but there are a TON of DCP vloggers and most of them have PI tip videos. But DO NOT watch any videos of people doing their PI’s. It will pop up as a recommendation and just don’t watch them not before or after. You’ll end up copying what they said exactly without knowing it and after you’ll just compare yours to theirs.

How long did you wait for your acceptance? I had my phone interview 4 weeks ago...I'm not getting in am I?

I had my phone interview on 9/13 and I don’t get accepted till 10/28, so about 6 weeks. Don’t give up hope! I know it can be discouraging to see other getting accepted before you, I know I cried a lot because of it, but don’t let it get you down. If it’s meant to be it will happen. Good luck!

Hi! I have a question about Entertainment. I'm Mouse height (4'11") but I'm worried that I may be a little too curvy/chubby for the role. Do you know anything about those costumes and how forgiving they may be for someone who's a little more well-endowed? Thanks!!

Hello! I worked with a lot of people that were Mouse/Duck height  and they were all of different body types. 

The costume can be a bit restricting in the chest area, because they do not give any of the mice or ducks chests, even the girls. So that may squish you down, but I would say a sports bra would help that not be too big of a problem. Otherwise the arms and legs are fabric that forms tightly to your body, whatever the size.

if i wanted to be a park greeter, would i say in my interview park greeter or main entrance ops when they ask what roles i want?

You would say main entrance ops, but I would put emphasis that you want to greet guests into the park!

Hey so I have a question about fur characters. I want to go to an audition but I'm a little nervous. I'm a size 16/18. Will they even consider me? Or is it smaller sizes only? I'm not ashamed of my weight but I really need an honest answer.

Unfortunately I’m not good with sizes, but I answered another question similar to this and there are performers of all different sizes. Some characters may be more strict, due to the way the costume needs to fit, but others have a bit more wiggle room (literally).

hi! i have a question about getting into the parks. so say that you haven't done traditions yet so you don't have a blue id, but you're an annual passholder. would you be able to get in the parks before traditions, or do you still have to wait?

Nope! If you have an annual pass, you just get into the parks with that!
