Time Capsule

In the course of her ongoing de-cluttering project, Sharon recently exhumed another gem - a CD playlist daughter Caitlin made for me just before she went off to college in 2005.

I fired it up Tuesday and it took me back to my car, on my way to work in the morning. It was Caitlin’s attempt to broaden my horizons. Her formula: some tunes I like, plus some she thought I would/should like. The full list:

Project 406: Day 10 (Items 46 - 55)

My son and I have read through these 10 books and it’s time to sell them as part of our bi-annual trip to Half Price Books to shore up some extra money for my debt.

I would also like to point out we used the Konmari method of holding the item and asking if it gave us joy (A/N: we use “Would you be excited to read this again?”) and out of the eighty books he owns these were the ones he didn’t want to read again. The Lord of the Rings I love the story but this book is hugely unwieldy and will probably be replaced by hard backs that are easier to read.

Less is More.

Less is more in everything you do. Today and for the rest of my days, I am letting go of the things that do not serve me and focusing more on the things that do.

I enjoy quality over quantity and have found that it’s a much more efficient way of living life.

I will give a short example, follow fewer people on tumblr, instagram and so on, but have them be people you really enjoy following. Watch fewer tv shows and movies and documentaries, but have the ones that you do watch be ones you really enjoy and have really high-quality content. Keep few photos on your phone, but have the ones that you do keep be ones you love to look back on. Stuff like that.

I can make a longer post on this eventually, because one of my favourite topics is on minimalism, and I am always looking for and finding ways to live a more minimalistic life (and enjoying it :)), but this is what I have for now.

Take every day to let go of something or clear something out, (if you are anything like me and have a similar life path to mine) you will feel so much better. Trust me <3.
