does anybody know what other electronics work John did for the band? I know about the Deacy Amp obviously but I hear vague mentions of him working on other equipment but haven’t been able to really find anything of substance about it

August 19, 1951 John Deacon was born. The Queen bassist in now 70 with six children and a wife of some 45 years. Along with playin with Queen for roughly 20 years, he invented a electric guitar amplifier titled the Deacy Amp (if you didn’t know in college he studied electronic engineering). All Queen members reside in the Songwriter Hall of Fame as they each orchestrated their own songs that became Queen anthems. John composed Another One Bites the Dust, I Want to Break Free, These Are the Days of Our Lives, The Show Must Go On, Your My Best Friend, and more. He retired in 1997 after a performance beside Elton John. He left Queen reportedly because of Freddie Mercury’s tragic death, saying without him there wasn’t much of a point. No one could replace him, and he was his best friend. Deacon is known for being the shyer, more quiet member of Queen, but he is a true Rockstar and expert musician. Freddie said not to underestimate him, and all should take that to heart. True Queen fans see just how valuable Deacon was to rock history and as a person. Queen would not have been the same without Deacon, we wish him a very happy birthday.
"Deacy" amp
I think we all know what this means
It sounds like a scene from a movie. A dark night in London, 1972. A young man walks alone, heading home after a long night of practicing wi
A slightly more in depth look at the Deacy Amp, and how integral a part it played in creating Queen.
"Just a boring bass player" my ass...
One of the things I disliked about the movie was all the things we did not get to see. I get it was not possible or the movie would have last 6 hours. So that made me think, how cool would it have been or be to have a TV serie or Netflix serie about Queen/Freddie. Let's imagine:
Episode 1: getting to know the boys
Freddie coming to England with his family. His first time here, Brian making his Red special, John learning the guitar, his father death... Roger learning and playing the drums etc..
Episode 2: Smile
Brian and John playing in smile with Tim. Freddie meeting them, enjoying their shows, becoming friends. Meanwhile, John starting to make his famous Deacy amp! We would see Roger and Freddie at their Kensington Market stall. Freddie with his others bands. End of the episode CLIFFHANGER: TIM QUIT! :o
Bonus scene: Brian observing the planets because why not.
another bonus scene: Rog and Freddie going to a Jimi hendrix show and Freddie stanning him so hard.
Episode 3: “We’re going to be a group”
Freddie encourage them to continue and wants to sing for them. They agree, and the episode is mostly about them starting as a band and looking for the perfect bassist. That's a difficult task but at the end of the epi enters our dear John. Bonus scene: Freddie and Mary-austin meeting.
Episode 4: "From rags.."
An episode about mostly Queen , Queen II and maybe Sheer heart attack album. Their struggles with their record compagny, their tenacities. End of epi: John Reid comes to the rescue: telling them to record the best album they'd ever recorded. Bonus scenes: John and Veronica's wedding ( Freddie enters with a feather boa)
Brian and Chrissie
Epidoe 5: "...to riches"
the recording of the excellent a night at the opera , and the start of the success for them. We also see Freddie struggling with his sexuality, meeting his "first" boyfriend.
Bonus scenes: Roger in the cupboard! Roger meets Dominique.
Epiode 6: Tour
This episode would be mostly about them touring all over the world.
we will rock you, we are the champion...Freddie and Mary have the "talk". Brian and John becoming fathers! Also Paul Prenter is here!
Episode 7: The 80's
Freddie living in NY, his friends, boyfriends in NY. They start to grow apart because they do not agree what to do musicaly. Another one bites the dust -> MJackson saying it has to be a single! David Bowie and under pressure!!! Paul Prenter doing his Paul prenter things.
Bonus scene: Rog becoming a father. Freddie meeting Jim for the first time but being rejected. :(
Episode 8: Biggest band in the world
They're all bored, not sure about where Queen is going, Jim and Freddie meeting again. Freddie not sure about his solo career and then Live aid! Enough said.
We could stop there like in the movie. or continue...maybe a season 2...
Of course the possibilities are endless! What would like to see?
