Hear me out, I have an idea!
Imagine an invasion in witch Dick and Jason are, for some reason, alone at the enter to Gotham. They're talking and Dick is reassuring his little brother, that everything will be okay, they will be okay...
The invasion of demonic creatures begins. The brothers are fighting alongside eachother, trying to kill as many creatures, as they can. Dick is trying to reach Tim through his communicator to tell him, that they need help. He says (sreams) as much as he can, before his communicator is getting destroyed. The battle continues. They are getting tired, but are trying their best.
At some point, Jason was so focused on fighting, that he didn't notice the demon sneaking behind him. However, Dick notices this and runs to his brother, throwing himself in front of him. He takes the blow, and the demon's claw pierces his body. It is only Richard's painful scream that makes Red Hood turn around. He sees the demon lift his brother and then throw him a few meters away.
Jason, ignoring the risk, runs to Dick. He falls to his knees beside him and hugs him, calling out not to leave him. Dick slowly raises his hands, removing his brother's helmet, and his domino mask almost slides off his face. He wraps his hands around his Little Wing's face, which is wet with sweat and tears. He tells him not to blame himself, that he loves him, and asks him to live. Jason repeatedly wraps himself in Richard's chest or wraps him in his jacket to stop his bleeding in desperation. He feels the sticky, hot blood on his body, which sends him into even greater panic. He continues to scream, beg and cry to his brother not to leave him, because he won't be able to cope. He is afraid of living without Dick again, and now it will be even worse because he knew his brother was somewhere out there, he could track him down, but now he won't be able to do that. His brother will always be in one place, in the coffin at the cementery, and he won't get out of it like Jason.
Dick's last words to Jason were: "I love you, my Little Wing, please live, at least for me...", and Jason's to Dick were: "I love you too! Please, don't leave me, Dickie!". Dick's hand falls from his brother's cheek, leaving a bloody trail. Jason sceams in pain, panic and disorientation, because he doesn't know how to live without his older brother, who had been his compass for years. Jason shakes his brother's limp body, presses his ear to his chest, but no longer hears his heartbeat, his lips turn blue, and his face grows even paler. He wants, he desires, only comfort from his older brother. He desperately presses his face into his chest, imagining that he feel the touch of his hand in his hair. His lament continues.
When he cries into the lifeless chest of his hero, he remembers all his moments with Dick. He recalls Dick's first outburst when he was informed he was being fired from his role as Robin. He remembered the pain and rejection in Richard's gaze. The younger boy often heard Bruce's arguing with Dick and blamed himself for it. He also argued with Dick. It wasn't until a few months later that their relationship began to warm up. Their first encounter occurred on one of the rare nights when Dick agreed to stay at the Manor. Jason had a brutal nightmare, from which he woke up screaming. He was surprised when he opened his eyes and saw Dick, not Bruce. The young man looked genuinely concerned as he knelt beside the bed, his hand in the boy's hair. Jason initially pushed away the warm hand, but after a moment he missed the soft touch. He asked Dick what he was doing there, and Dick replied that he heard his cries and had come to see what was going on. He wiped a tear from the cheek of the boy, who didn't even remember that he had been crying.
It irritates him that Dick's touch is so gentle and sensitive. He hates how much he wants love from Dick. He doesn't want to talk about his nightmare, but Richard doesn't leave. At one point, Dick confesses that his problem isn't with Jason, but with Bruce. Seeing the boy's surprised face, he explains to him where Robin came from and why the fact that Bruce gave it to someone else without consulting it with him hurts him so much. But he doesn't blame Jason, because he didn't know where Robin came from. Jason hesistantly holds out his hand in agreement, and Dick immediately takes it. It was the first time they smiled at each other genuinely. The younger boy asks Richard, if he can stay with him for the night, and when he falls asleep, warm and snuggled into his brother's chest, he finally feels completely loved and safe. Later in the album, they find a picture of them sleeping together in bed, curled up in each other's arms, with their hair messy, and Jason's face practically glued to Dick's chest.
Their relationship improved significantly after that night. Dick began spending more time at the Manor, where he trained Jason. He comforted the boy when he failed something, and when he fell, he always was there every time to catch him. After a while, Jason liked it so much that he would fall down on purpose just to land in his brother's safe arms and cuddle up to him. Richard finally saw through him and with a smile assured him that if he wants to be lifted up, he just had to tell him, and he would never refuse. After that day, Jason practically refused to let go of his brother's hands. There are a lot photos in albums showing Jason hanging from Dick in various positions. On all the photos, they are smiling, happy and safe. On the other photos they are sleeping together in different parts of the Manor. In bedrooms, living rooms, dining room, on a chair, where Jason sleeps on Dick's lap. Everywhere, the younger one has his face pressed into his brother's chest or neck, and is tightly holding onto the fabric of his brother's clothes.
The moment when Jason cried the hardest before his death was not his mother's death, being thrown out on the street, or even the day of his adoption. No. It was the day when Dick officially gave him Robin. He cried as Dick helped him put on his costume and wiped his tears from his face every now and then. In the end, they both cried in each other's arms, happy. After Jason's return from the grave, their relationship was... complicated. The younger one wanted revenge on Richard, he had been planning it for months, but when he saw Nightwing, his beloved older brother, for the first time since his death, he was unable to attack. He couldn't even move. He just started crying, just like on that memorable night when they hugged for the first time. Nightwing, Dick, approached him and took off his domino mask. Red Hood stared into those warm, tear-filled blue eyes and cried even harder because he felt like a small, scared boy again. Before Dick could lift his hands, he took off his helmet, domino mask, and then grabbed his brother's hands and pressed them to his cheeks. He swore it was him, that he had returned, that he was Jason. The green mixed with the blue. With a loud cry, Dick grabbed the younger man and pulled him close to his chest, sobbing into his hair, how much he missed him. He apologized and begged for forgiveness for not saving him. They hugged each other, crying on one of the rooftops in Gotham. The two wounded brothers yearned for their love and closeness.
It was thanks to Dick that Jason gave up his plan for revenge on Tim, slowly burying his hatred. He slowly drew closer to the family. Although there were worse days, arguments, disputes, they always came back to each other. Dick, no matter what, was Jason's safe place, the one he always wanted to return to. He was his brother, his safety, his home. When he felt bad, he always turned to his older brother. Although he was now bigger and taller, he felt like the same little boy, longing for love and a sense of security, when he was with Dick. His brother's scent always made him feel better. His warm, gentle hands held him, he heard the calm beat of his heart in his ear, and his soothing voice rocked them both to sleep. For years, they were there for each other, protecting and caring for each other. Jason was jealous at times that he had to share his brother's attention and warmth, but then his large size allowed him to take up as much space on Dick's chest as he wanted.
However, now he has lost everything forever. Dick left him and will never come back. His beloved older brother died protecting him. He sacrificed himself. This realization makes Jason scream, shout, and cry. He shakes Richard's body, pulls his hand to his face, but there is no heartbeat, and the hand falls. In a panic, he reaches for his jacket and wraps it around his brother because he is so cold. He must warm him up! The material gets darker and redder with every second. He wants to wipe the blood from Dick's mouth and nose, but he leaves an even bigger stain. This drives Jason into even greater panic. He cannot come to terms with the loss. He calls out through the communicator, trying to contact anyone. Robin, Red Robin, Oracle, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and none of them answer his call.
He's alone, and Dick is getting colder.
He had no idea how long he knelt and cried until he lost his voice and his tears dried up. He had no more tears. Dick was cold and stiff. Jason didn't know what was happening around him. He only felt the stench of blood, the cold, and the terrifyingly limp weight on his legs. At some point, he asked himself why he didn't want to move? Why was he silent? Why didn't he want to reciprocate his touch?
Ah, yes...
He's dead, after all...
Jason's still crying...
Finally, from... fainting? he is woken up by the terrified and anguished screams of his family. He feels a tug on his arms, he pushes them away. Someone wants to snatch his brother's body from his hands. He screams, pressing Dick tightly to him and pushing away the desperate brothers. A quiet voice tells him that they are suffering too, but he silences it. He suffers the most, he saw Dicka's body being thrown from the claw and the man died in his arms! He believes he has the greatest right to hold his brother. A brother who will never come back.
He can hear unclear sobbing near him. Tim and Damian are desperately clinging to Richard's legs, their bodies shaking with uncontrolled sobs. He thinks he sees Batman, no, Bruce, the man is not wearing a mask, and he is sobbing. He shakes his head, his eyes are obscured by a fog of despair, disorientation, and pain.
Jason feels that Wonder Woman is bidding farewell to both Nightwing and Richard Grayson-Wayne. Clark falls behind Bruce. He also loudly mourns the loss of Dick. All teams, including the Justice League, all younger and older heroes, mourn the loss of the greatest human ray of sunshine.
Jason won't let anyone take Dick out of his arms. He carried his body to the jet, buckled him in, and pulled him back in. His brothers are hugging the body. Tim desperately rubs his cheeks with Dickam, as if hoping to feel warmth. Damian sits on his Baba's lap, pressing his nose into the icy, pale neck, and continues to wail. Dick's uniform is barely stained with blood, most of it has dried. Bruce's face is twisted in a painful grimace, and his tears keep flowing down his cheeks.
The days leading up to the funeral of Richard "Dick" Grayson-Wayne, the hero known as Nightwing, blended for Jason into a blur of weeping, screaming; preparing his brother's body for the casket; sneaking into the room where Dick lay to hold him; seeing his family in despair; his dead brother's question of why he had given up without hesitation; and sinking into despair. On the day of the funeral, the weather was annoyingly perfect, as if mocking their tragedy.
Everyone was crying. Most of the family and friends couldn't even stand. Jason looked at his beloved brother's calm face. He looked like he was sleeping, so why wasn't he waking up? Why wasn't he responding to their cries?
Wally didn't want to leave the coffin, he kept stroking the pale cheeks. He apologized for not being able to save him.
Clark, Superman, gently stroked Dick's hair. He asked himself quietly, how did he not hear his pain?
Jason had to cover his ears.
Justice League bids farewell to Richard as a hero who always served higher values. Everyone's eyes were filled with tears. How will they manage without his smile and ability to improve everything? Why couldn't they save him?
Jon, Kon and Bart say goodbye to their friend and mentor. They thank him for everything they learned from him. Kon holds Jon, who is sobbing, in his arms, barely standing upright himself. Bart leans against him, unstoppable in his tears.
The Titans and others say goodbye to their friend and leader, who was always there for them. He listened to them, comforted them, and helped them selflessly. His smile helped them survive all the battles. Everyone is mourning him. Kori, Cyborg, Roy, Aqualad, Beast Boy, Conner... They are stroking the face of their younger brother, whom they couldn't protect.
No one believes it's the end, even when the coffin lid closes. Jason wants to open it again, and he's not alone in this desire. He screams along with the others when the body is buried. He screams the loudest.
How can this be the end?
Why didn't he wake up?
The family is slowly succumbing to depression. Their main pillar fell while protecting his younger brother. Everyone misses his voice, laughter, eyes, touch...
Jason was unable to function normally. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw him. His pierced, bleeding body and those pleading, blue eyes. He heard that fading voice. Sometimes he feels like he still feels the weight on his knees. He hasn't washed his clothes stained with his brother's blood, he can't bring himself to do it. Because he screamed so much, he ripped his throat out and couldn't speak when everyone asked him what happened THERE? Not that he wanted to answer.
It wasn't until weeks after the funeral, in the morning, after another nightmare in which he was forced to watch his brother's body being pierced and discarded, that he broke down and sobbing confessed the truth to his family. The movements at the table stopped as he told them everything. Damian finally fled from the table, and his breath was shaking as if he was starting to suffocate. Tim froze, his fingers clenched tightly around the coffee cup. His eyes began to gleam again, and his mouth tightened into a thin line. Bruce openly wept as Jason begged for forgiveness. Tim whispered that it wasn't his fault, but he couldn't believe him. He killed their brother! Bruce grabbed his hand. Alfred wrapped his arms around him from behind and remained silent. Tears fell on Jason's shoulders.
Jason struggled with the loss and the fact that he was now the new oldest brother. Cass and Stephanie ran off to China, and I couldn't stop them. He can't comfort Tim and Damian.
Tim is overworking himself and refusing to sleep. He hasn't left the Cave. The shadows have returned to his face, he has lost weight, but now everyone has lost weight. His hands tremble from drinking too much caffeine.
Damian again withdrew into himself. He talked only with Jon, who moved to the Manor to be with him. He would sometimes come to Tim and Jason, offering his presence.
The brothers see Dick's smile in his smile, and even though they know it's not okay, they still hugged the boy, pretending he was their older brother. They pretended that everything was back to normal for those few minutes. They have someone to rely on. Damian, however, wants to share. He wants to keep Jon close. So he steals the boy for himself, and they both disappear.
They continue to suffer.
Jason barely speaks. For many days after the funeral, he sat at Dick's grave, because he hoped that his brother, just like him, would wake up in the coffin and get out of it. He doesn't want him to suffer like him, alone, defenseless, disoriented, terrified... But it doesn't come. Dick doesn't wake up. He remains dead. Then Jason finally realizes that Dick is dead. He fails again and calls out to his older brother to come and comfort him. He, the great, terrible Red Hood, the biggest crime boss of Gotham, cries like a little boy. He beats the concrete slab and sobs. He doesn't know how long he sat there.
He didn’t hear a response.
A few months later, Jason gives up. Late at night, after Tim went to bed for the first time in days, he snuck into the Cave and stood in front of the glass case where the Nightwing costume was. Its black and blue appearance was majestic. He remembers how Dick fought with the agility of an acrobat. He jumped between buildings and overcame evil, but his path was suddenly cut short. He died because he wanted to protect his younger brother. Jason shudders at the memory of his torn clothes. He remembers the disgusting sound when he tore off his costume, soaked in dried blood.
As he gazed at the display case in pain, he wondered if that's how Richard felt when he looked at his Robin costume? Did he feel terror, pain, loss? Did he feel that it was the end?
With tears streaming down his cheeks, he shattered the glass, not even noticing that he was bleeding. He reached for the escrima sticks and turned them on.
They worked.
With trembling breath, he shed his jacket and shirt. He watched the electricity jump with horror and relief. He held one stick to his throat and the other to his chest, to his heart. He turned it on, closing his eyes at the same time. He hardly felt any pain. He waited until he saw his brother again.
The next day, Tim was awakened by the stench of something burned. The scent led him to the Cave. He had to cover his nose. After a moment of searching, he saw the broken display case and Jason's body, lying in the glass. In a panic, he rushed to him, but he was too late. He lost another older brother. This one committed suicide. His panicked screams woke Bruce and Alfred. Tim knew they were holding him, that they were saying something, but what? He didn't know. He only felt the stench of smoke, blood, and another mourning.
Something suddenly shakes him, some kind of shock.
He pulls away from the body and the hands touching him.
He keeps his eyes wide open as he pulls on his long hair and steps back two paces. He is practically suffocating from his own breath.
A scream erupts from him so terrifying that Bruce and Alfred are frozen in shock. Tim continues to scream.
"Dick, how could you do this to me?! How could you die and leave me?! You promised you'd always be there for me... Where are you? Answer me! Dickie, please! Please, come back to me... I can't cope without you... I'm suffering... Why don't you come and comfort me?! Dickie!"
Bruce and Alfred listened in horror. Tim's voice cracked as he stared into nothingness in despair. He reached out his arms, hoping someone would hug him. That Dick would hug him. Cradle him in his chest, stroke his hair, kiss his forehead.
He continues to call out.
"Dickie! Please come! I miss you... I suffer so much, Dickie. I love you, come back. Come back to me, Dick! Why won't you answer me? You only come to me when I'm asleep!"
At some point, he gasped, froze, and then began to stare at Jason's body with disgust and hatred. Tim's eyes were shining with tears and anger. He yelled again, pointing at his dead brother.
He was shaking with emotion.
"You! It's all your fault! If you had just backed off, been more careful, Dick would still be here! Damian wouldn't have taken Jon, Steph would have stayed, but no! You had to take us. You let Dick down! That's why he's dead, and now you've decided to give up?! I wasn't right when I said it wasn't your fault. You coward... You killed yourself and didn't even use your own gun, just Dick's batons! You took him from us and decided to follow him, join him. Coward, coward, coward!"
His speech was chaotic and incoherent. Tears continued to flow. He wanted to kick the body, but Bruce stopped him. He grabbed him and held him back, but Tim felt that he had lost his former strength. Even Batman couldn't do without his First Robin.
Tim tore himself from Bruce's grasp and ran furiously out of the Cave.
He had never felt such rage before. He couldn't understand how Jason could just abandon this. And he'd used the same weapon Dick had used to fight.
Coward - he repeated in his mind as he ran through the streets of Gotham.
Selfish - he screamed as he pummeled criminals with his bare fists. He hadn't used such brutal force in years. But now there was no one to stop him.
Dick's warm, steady hands wouldn't pull him back. His soothing voice wouldn't calm him.
Murderer - he realized the moment he heard the crack of a neck breaking under his hands.
But who was the murderer here?
Him or Jason?
He stared at his bloody hands in confusion. They were so sticky, yet so warm. He watched the carnage he had created with fascination. The screams rang in his ears. But he didn't know who they belonged to? Him or those criminals?
“Who cares!” he snorted. Laughter bubbled in his chest, and when he finally let it out, the cackle was more terrifying than the Joker.
Tim's eyes flashed with the old madness that he thought he had buried deep within himself. But it was only dormant. Dick had put it to sleep with his kindness, but it had passed.
Forever.
Something that ultimately pushed Tim into madness was a recording. He found them by accident, it was just the sound. It was a call that no one heard.
It was a recording of Dick's final moments.
In the Cave, Jason's hysterical cries for help for their older brother echoed.
"Help, anyone! Dick is dying, someone help him! Anyone!" Jason's voice was so panicked that Tim had to grab the edge of the desk. The screams continued. "Batman?! Robin?! Red Robin?! Why aren't you answering?! It's about Dick! Help! Help!"
Jason called out to them, but they didn't respond. Tim is almost vomiting. He hears Richard's quiet, painful moans in the background. How much must he have suffered in his final moments? Although Tim hates himself for thinking this, he regrets that Dick didn't die right away.
Finally, he hears his weak voice. He comforts Jason.
"Shh, Little Wing, it... wasn't your fault. I did it on my own. I love you, Jay, so much..."
Panicked response.
"I love you too, Big Wing! Dickie, don't leave me, I can't do it without you..."
Then he calls for help again. This time he calls the Justice League. How is it that Superman didn't hear Jason's cries? The recording shows irregular, shallow breathing and painful moans. Dick coos tenderly to his brother, but he doesn't calm down. He can't.
Tim hears his beloved brother's last words and starts crying himself. He cries when Jason's hysterical screams fill the air around him.
"Dick? Dickie, wake up! Why aren't you waking up?! Please, look at me!"
"Why are you so cold? I need to warm you up..."
Again, screams and cries.
Tim turns off the recording when he hears his own scream.
He remembers his panic when he saw Jason on his knees, hugging not Nightwing, but Dick - thier eldest brother. At first, he hoped that Richard was just unconscious, but his paleness and the dried blood around his mouth and nose indicated the worst. When he saw a bloody palm-shaped stain on Jason's cheek, he almost threw up.
He wanted to hug Dick one last time, but Jason wouldn't let him or Damian take his brother away. So he sobbed at his feet. Damian knelt beside him, repeating pleadingly, "Baba... Baba, please wake up... Baba!"
Tim couldn't believe that his hero was dead. He lay in Dick's apartment bed, hoping to finally hear his footsteps, and then they could snuggle up together. They wouldn't have to talk. Just being there would be enough to make Tim feel relaxed.
However, the steps never arrived, and the familiar scent dissipated. With his passing, a part of Tim died.
After hearing this recording, Tim gave in to madness. He went from hero to villain. He eliminated rivals so brutally that everyone, even heroes, feared him. He had Gotham and Blüdhaven at his feet in less than a month. No one was able to stop him. Batman will not return. Bruce heard part of the recording where Jason was screaming, "Dad! Dad, help! Save us, save him, please!" and he just shut down completely. Alfred didn't even try to get in Tim's way.
Justice League stopped caring about Gotham and Blüdhaven. Steph and Cass didn't even come back for Jason's funeral. Upon hearing of Jason's death, Roy attempted to commit suicide and is now in a coma. Kon and Bart try to find Jon, but they are unsuccessful.
Jon was the only one who offered sincere condolences upon hearing of their latest tragedy. Then he received nothing from him.
"You're a good kid, Jon. Too good. Too bad you met someone like Damian. He won't let you out of the cage," Tim said with a sigh, preparing for another hunt.
Jon's world was shattered by Dick's death. Richard was like a mentor, a friend, an older brother to him. He never hesitated to help him. So when he saw his pale, too-calm face in the coffin, and then the lid closing, he couldn't stop crying. He buried his face in Kon's arms and sobbed. After the funeral, he approached Damian, offering his presence, and, oh, then his gaze should have alarmed him. However, he attributed this dangerous flash to grief.
Oh, what a mistake that was...
For the next few days, he spent a lot of time with Damian and his brothers. He offered them his comfort, which they gladly accepted. He let them cuddle with him and forget that Dick was gone. He talked a lot with Tim and Jason. He knew that his presence helped them, so he practically moved into the manor to help them. He tried to force Tim to rest, Jason to calm down, and Damian to speak up. Sometimes he succeeded, sometimes he didn't, but he never gave up. He didn't want them to get lost in their grief. Dick repeatedly told him that people in mourning are more likely to do bad things, including hurting themselves, because grief prevents them from controlling themselves. So he listened to his advice and tried to do his best. He saw that Dick's brothers were changing and wanted to stop it.
He didn't get upset when they called him "Dick" and then apologized. It wasn't their fault. He couldn't blame them for suffering. He patiently tried to work with them. He had the most trouble with Damian. He had the impression that his friend had stopped existing. He became so withdrawn that he only talked to Jon, and even then his answers were short and monotonous. Jon noticed that Damian was watching him a lot, but he downplayed it. If he doesn't talk, he watches a lot - he explained to himself, although sometimes those glances made his skin crawl and his hair stand on end. He didn't understand that feeling. He couldn't be afraid of his friend! He needs his help!
So he ignored the way Damian started catching him after a while - strongly and surely. Despite his genes, Jon sometimes felt pain, but he tried not to show it. He tried not to shudder as he felt that sharp, terrifying gaze upon him.
Damian wanted to spend more time with him, and Jon agreed. He thought they were making progress in his grief, that the boy was starting to heal. He didn't realize that Damian was isolating him from others. He wouldn't let him be alone with Jason or Tim. He was always somewhere nearby, watching him closely. No matter where Jon went, Damian was there, sooner or later. He caught up with him again. He stared again. And Jon tried harder and harder to bury the feeling of fear and danger inside himself.
"I can't be afraid of him, I have to help him!" he kept repeating it to himself, but sometimes he didn't even believe it.
Everything was relatively fine this morning. He talked to Jason, let Tim hug him. He managed to make them smile, which, although fragile, finally appeared after so many days. He went for a walk with them. They kept talking. After lunch, they parted ways.
Jon went to meet Damian. He got a juice from him. Then he started to feel sleepy and...
He woke up in a completely foreign place. He had no idea where he was or what day it was. He felt very disoriented. His head and muscles ached. He could barely move. He didn't have the strength to scream. When he finally saw Damian, he hoped that he would save him. But Damian came over to him, lay down next to him, and hugged him. He had his face buried in Damian's chest, and Damian was mumbling that he was safe.
Where is he safe? What place is this? Dami, what's happening? - he asked, but he didn't get any answers. Only those green, crazy eyes stared at him. Jon saw obsession and love at the same time. Jon felt terrified, but he didn't have the strength for anything.
He felt the needle in his neck and drifted away. He tried not to fall asleep, but the medication was very strong.
"Damian, why?"
"Because I love you and won't let myself lose another loved one. I lost my brother, not you."
Jon felt a tear roll down his cheek.
At first, Jon's days blended together. He didn't know when it was day and when it was night. There were no windows, and the lack of sunlight weakened him. He felt bad, his powers didn't want to work. He didn't know how much time had passed before Damian pulled him out of some room. And so he mostly slept in it. He was carried in Damian's arms because he couldn't even stand on his own and couldn't fly. The day was very cloudy. Jon saw many trees outside the window. Where did he end up? How long has he been here? How is he going to get out of here?
"You won't escape me," Damian laughed after one of Jon's escape attempts.
"Damian, please let me out. I don't feel good here. I'm losing my powers!"
"That is what it is all about, Habibi. These powers are just a nuisance to you. They're what's being used against you. When you finally lose them, you'll finally be at peace and safe with me."
Jon felt himself growing pale.
"Do you want to take away my powers?"
He couldn't escape the kiss that Damian had forced him into.
"Yes, beloved, that is what I want."
"Please, let me go..." he cried on one of the nights. He felt Damian's body behind him, his arms tightly holding Jon's body. He could barely breathe. He was so weak.
"I told you, Habibi, you will never leave me. I will not survive another loss. I won't let you go to the world that took my Baba from me."
"Damian, it isn't normal and you know it!" Jon cried, but Damian didn't care.
When Jon lost his powers, he was losing his super hearing the longest. He hoped that he would lose this power the quickest. He heard Jason, Tim, and Kon crying. He heard Jason make the decision to commit suicide and couldn't silence the sounds of his death. He vomited.
"Jason committed suicide..." Damian whispered as he held his long hair. He hadn't cut it in a long time...
"Hn, I expected that." It didn't faze him. He knew Jason would do that and didn't do anything to stop him. This realization made Jon vomit more.
However, Damian allowed him to write his condolences. He begged for a long time, but the young man finally agreed. Jon knew, however, that Damian would read everything he wrote, so he included only sincere words of condolence in the letter. He cried when Damian took the note from him.
He had heard that Kon was looking for him. He was looking desperately, but he couldn't find him. Jon had the feeling that Damian changed their location from time to time, because sometimes the forest seemed different. The house and rooms were the same, but the arrangement of the trees changed. Or maybe it was just Jon's disorientation that was affecting his imagination, and he was just imagining it, and in reality he was always in the same place?
He doesn't even flinch at the sight of a syringe. He surrenders without a fight, which makes Damian happy. He kisses him, and Jon submits to the touch.
"Tim went crazy and became a supervillain," he confessed one night. Damian was not surprised again. He had anticipated everything. He knew his brothers would go crazy, although he himself does not admit to his own madness. Sometimes, when Jonathan hears Tim's hysterical laughter, he shudders and covers his ears. He hears how brutal his methods are.
But eventually, that too fades. He loses his super hearing, and one of the last things he hears from many kilometers away is Tim's voice. He speaks of him. He regrets him, but he can't help him. This causes Jon to sink into despair. No one will find him. No one will save him.
The outside world is finally falling completely silent. Cannot take to the skies or penetrate concrete. He became a regular person, which made Damian very happy.
Jon gives up.
