The dead squad at Tommy’s funeral:
(TW SMOKING AND DEATH)
I died with one.
Tommy peered down into the cardboard box of cigarettes in confusion. The box was just as crumpled and soiled as it had been when he was alive, but now instead of one stingy cigarette hiding inside, there were two. One, old and worn, the other fresh and new.
I died with one.
Tommy fingered the old stick of tar, pulled it out of the box and holding it up to his eyes. When he had been alive, it felt like he’d constantly been fighting the urge to smoke, but now but couldn’t find it within himself to shove the stick between his lips.
I died alone.
Suddenly, the cigarette was plucked out of his fingers. Tommy snapped his head up to find familiar brown eyes already looking at him. Watery brown eyes that seemed just a bit translucent to be real.
“Did you by any chance die with a lighter on you too?”
Tommy blinked slowly. Wilbur was smirking slight but it seemed forced.
“I did.”
The blonde handed over the crusty lighter. The L’Manburg print on the plastic was well worn away by this point. It seemed only fitting.
Wilbur thanked Tommy and took the lighter. Their hands passed through each other as they made the exchange.
“So,” Wilbur started, lighting the stick between his teeth and taking a long drag. His face immediately went lax. “I take it those cigarettes aren’t just for show.”
Tommy found that he couldn’t tear his eyes away from the older man as he smoked with such grace. The black smog could be seen clogging his opaque lungs. “They weren’t for you, were they?”
Wilbur chuckled lowly. “That’s fair. And I guess I can’t say it’ll kill you now, can I?”
I died alone.
Tommy couldn’t help the smiled thag tugged at his lips. He grabbed the remaining cigarette from the box.
“Not when you’re already dead, bitch.”
I won’t be remembered alone.
Two twin billows of smoke took to the sky, identical in everything but whom they came from as the older of the pair draped his arm across the shoulder of the shoulder and started walking. Where to? Neither of them new but a trail of ash showed their path.
Today’s concept:
“Wait for Me” from Hadestown the Musical but it’s Dream’s instructions on how to resurrect people and Tommy, forced to go it alone, heads into the Void to get Wilbur back for good - doubts and shadows creep in trying to stop him that look like all the villains he’s faced - Festival Technoblade, Corrupted Wilbur, President Schlatt, Traitor Eret, Dream - the Void is so incredibly dark he can’t see anything. Thinking of early L’manburg, of Wilbur and Fundy and that first war where they won their freedom - he begins to hum L’manburgs anthem as his songs begin to light a way for him, filled with glowing memories of the past of Wilbur and him, of Wilbur and everyone. Following the path, he rushes toward dead Wilbur’s spirit, pulling him into a hug as Wilbur finally notices Tommy’s presence and begins to cry, knowing that he actually came to get him, that he cared about him that much.
I love Wilbur. He’s such an inspiration for me, in his music, videos, and stories. He’s incredible.
Also, the text is a part of a song I wrote, but I’m trying to get a good microphone rn so I’ll take some time before you can hear it.
Guess what I finished! A lil somethin I've been workin on for quite a bit. Im not sure if I posted the traditional version, but I made it into digital! Here are 6 Dream SMP characters!
