I was immediately drawn to their unique art style, it’s so expressive… and I loved their character Umi, who has the best personality for a character I’ve seen in a long while.

Her design is incredibly difficult to draw though- I had a really tough time as i always have trouble with both ruffles and curls- I know that’s ironic with what kind of hair I have. I also chose a difficult pose- overall it was a real challenge, but nothing sleep deprived me at 2 am couldn’t handle.

It was a ton of fun though, I do love a challenge.

the right one is the one i submitted but i wasn’t happy with it bc it looks flat and i couldn’t figure out why. So i messed around with the lighting and it’s because there wasn’t enough contrast in values so gonna be practicing adding depth and shadows with colour bc for some reason that just doesn’t click in my brain lmaoo. anyways progress✌️

Ivy, the big one one that’s inspired by snufkin, was originally supposed to look at mushrooms and stuff, maybe a lizard, but then i thought that’s not fun or interesting enough, and I remembered that I have Plato (the tiny mushroom guy) bookmarked somewhere, and thus this drawing came to be. I’m very happy with it! Turned out very children’s book esc.
