Can I request a one shot for poly Deadpool and Wolverine reacting to their GN s/o who admitted to them that you're terrified of when both of them would leave them after realising they could find someone better than you with a happy ending please?
Thank you so much for the request! I absolutely loved writing this, even though it took me way longer than it should have. I really hope you enjoy it and that it’s everything you wanted!
Logan;Worst Wolverine x gn!reader x Wade;Deadpool
It had been a few months into dating the chaotic pair, and you loved every second of it. The dynamic between the 3 of you was a work of art. The chemistry is still as strong, if not stronger, than when you 3 first got together. You had to admit you were a bit nervous that when the honeymoon phase ended, they would get bored and leave, but they had so far given you no reason to think that. Unfortunately for you, though, that nervousness and fear never really went away.
Every moment you spent with them was full of love and laughter, but that little voice in the back of your head was always there, creeping around unwelcome. You noticed it immediately. The toxic tar-like thoughts that seemed to never go away. ‘You don’t deserve them.’ ‘They deserve so much more than whatever you could offer them.’ ‘You aren’t good enough for them.’ All of these thoughts plagued your mind, crowded your brain, and made it unbearable to think on some days. But you would continue on, forcing yourself to push the thoughts out. Tucking them into the deep pit in your brain, telling yourself that you will deal with it later.
It was easy to do when Logan and Wade were always nearby. Sticking close in case you needed anything. Blanket? You get all of your favorite blankets in the house. A cup of water? You get it in your favorite glass with a fun straw, added by Wade, of course, along with twin kisses to each of your cheeks. “You need anything else, darlin’?” Logan would ask in his usual low and gruff tone, but there was a hint of sweetness behind his words.
There always was whenever he spoke to you. His voice noticeably, at least to you and Wade, got softer and sweeter. So did Wades. Both of your boys were always so sweet and gentle with you, as if it came naturally to them, because it did. They loved you more than words could ever describe, and they would do anything for you, just like how you would do anything for them.
Unfortunately, the world doesn’t stop for anyone. Bills do need to get paid if none of you want to be homeless after all. “Bills, whoever invented the idea of having them should be burned alive at the stake.” Wade would cry out dramatically every time that time of the month came around.
The days you spent apart from them at work were always the worst. You had nothing to stop yourself from wandering to the dark place in your mind where you had tucked those toxic thoughts away. What if it was true? What if you weren’t good enough for them? What if they realized that? It was only a matter of time before they figured it out for themselves and left you. Those thoughts always scared you the most. The thought of them one day leaving you, alone, broken, and with no one to pull you above water.
Whenever those thoughts started to make themselves known, your phone would ding. Breaking you from your spiral for just a moment to check it. And every time it was Logan and Wade. Almost like they could sense something was wrong with you and you needed someone to pull you out of the deep end. Most of the texts consisted of them both telling you how much they missed you and couldn’t wait for you to be back in their arms once again. Safe. On occasion, the texts were a bit more….entertaining than loving, but you found that you loved those texts just as much, and it always pulled you back down to earth.
“Fuck pookie! You just missed the most jaw-dropping, mouth-watering, SEXIEST things I have ever seen!!!! Besides you of course <3. But don’t you worry your pretty little head, cause I managed to swipe a photo just for you. Now you can’t say I’ve never done anything for you. (;”
*Insert picture of Logan shirtless, sweating and ripping a man in half*
It never failed to cheer you up and put a smile on your face, making those thoughts seem insignificant, like a small coffee stain in the rug. However, much like the small coffee stain, it’s still there and very much not going away. It might be able to go unnoticed, flying under the radar for a while until it catches someone’s eye, and the second it does? Well, let’s just say the small coffee stain had recently caught your eye, or more so, brought to your attention.
Hence, why for the past week you have been a mess. Logan and Wade noticed it immediately; they always did. Whenever they caught any shift in your expression, the light in your eyes shining less, your voice lower than usual, hell, even if you breathed differently. They would catch it. It was one of the things you both adored and hated about them.
They desperately wanted to help but were unsure how. Maybe it was them? Maybe they had said something to make you upset without realizing it? Maybe you were getting tired of them being around you so often? But they had done nothing to make you upset, quite the opposite in fact. That prize belonged to an old college friend who had recently reached out.
Admittedly, you were hesitant to make plans to meet up with them. They never really were the kindest friend to you in college. Always making slightly off comments that you were never really sure if they were playful or intentional jabs. Even to this day, you weren’t sure. But despite your weariness, you accepted under the thought that maybe they had changed. College felt like a lifetime ago now. A lot can change in that time. Right?
After meeting up for coffee, the two of you decided to go back to your place to talk, as you both wanted a more private setting to catch up. You hadn’t even realized how much time had passed until your front door opened and in walked Logan and Wade. Both covered in sweat and blood from a hard day of mercenary work. Wade is the first to speak. “Baby cakes! We missed you!” Wade would announce excitedly as he practically skipped over to you before placing a loving kiss on your cheek. “Who’s your friend?” He asked with a grin while standing close to your side.
“Wade, Logan, this is my friend from college I was telling you about.” You say with a soft smile as you introduce them to each other. Wade shoots your friend a smile while Logan grunts out a not-so-enthusiastic ‘Hey..’ on his walk over to you and Wade. “You’ll have to forgive our peanut here. He isn’t too big on talking.” Wade teased with a grin before waving bye to your friend and giving you another quick kiss on the cheek, soon disappearing into your shared bedroom with Logan close behind.
“Wow, those are your boyfriends? Fuck how did you manage to pull that!?” They leaned in and whispered once the two were presumably out of earshot. You didn’t like where this was going. It always started out like that. A slightly off comment that grew into something that hit you like a gut punch right to your heart.
“You’re so lucky, I would kill to have two hot men like that falling for me. Sadly, men are only interested in looks. Lucky for you that you found two that are more interested in personality than looks.” There it was.
That single comment was enough to throw you over the edge. Sending you into a spiral that you couldn’t escape from this time. All of your previous thoughts are now amplified and practically screaming in your head every time you look at Wade or Logan.
Logan and Wade instantly picked up on your off behavior. Questioning you about the sudden change, but you would just brush them off. Telling them that everything was fine and that you were just overworked. Tired. Both men would glance at each other with nervous expressions before speaking up. “Ok, baby. But if you need anything, we are always here for you. We love you.”
It was like rubbing salt into the wound with how sweet, gentle, and patient they were with you, even in this state. How willing to give you space they were when believing that that might be what you needed. They were basically glued to your hip, any chance they got. Maybe you just needed some time to yourself.
Unfortunately, that was the exact opposite of what you needed. But you, not wanting to burden them with your thoughts, stayed quiet. Shoving your emotions deep, deep down. It wouldn’t be fair to them if you threw all of your stress and worries on them. They had plenty of other things to worry about. You adding to that is something you never intended on doing. So you didn’t.
Instead, you choose to stay silent. Holding in your pain and putting up a front for Logan and Wade. Which never really worked, but it didn’t stop you from trying.
Under the cover of night is when you would let the mask slip. Once the pair were asleep, you would sneak out of the bed. Making your way to the fire escape, sitting on the cold, hard metal, and staring out at the city. Watching with dull eyes as cars and people moved below you, unbothered and unaware of your pain. The cold air hitting your skin, a nice contrast to the fire of agony in your body.
As you press your cheek into the cold, familiar metal railing, you let yourself fall apart. Tears prick your eyes as you try to hold back the ugly sobs that threaten to leave your throat. This is how you had spent the past couple of nights. Silently crying to yourself on the fire escape as you wished for the thoughts to go away. After a few hours, your body would start to feel exhausted, and you would force yourself to go back inside. Lying between your two partners like nothing had happened.
Except tonight had been different. As you press your cheek against the metal railing and let the tears fall silently down your face, you hear an all too familiar voice behind you.
You freeze. Breath catching in your throat as you silently curse yourself. You knew you weren’t that quiet leaving, but you had thought it went unnoticed. Apparently not. You reach up to whip away your tears before turning to face Logan. Except it wasn’t just Logan. Your eyes met Wade's as he stood next to Logan, both looking at you through the window that led out to the fire escape. Concern etched on their faces as they take in the state of you. Wade, of course, is the first to speak up. “These seats taken?”
Silence. Then you shake your head. A small smile tugs at the corners of Wade's lips. “Great.” He says before making his way out onto the balcony and finding his spot right next to you. Logan follows soon after silently. The air around the 3 of you is silent as the two men sit next to you, all looking out at the busy city below.
“I’m sorry.” You finally speak out. Your voice shaky as you continue to stare down at the city, Logan and Wade stay silent next to you, not wanting to interrupt, in fear you might stop talking. “For being distant..” You finally say as you let out a shaky breath. Wade’s hand is quick to find yours and give you a reassuring squeeze.
After a few moments, you finally look over to him. Once your eyes meet, Wade gives you a weary smile. “Hey..it’s ok. We are just worried about you, sweet cheeks..” Wade’s voice is gentle but carries a more light-hearted tone as he speaks. However, his eyes searched yours for answers, and his grip on your hand tight as if he was scared you would disappear if he let go. “I know me and Peanut can be a bit much..” Logan lets out a low grunt, which you weren’t sure was agreeing or disagreeing with Wade. “But you don’t have to act like we are the hot blondes at the party you are trying to avoid.”
A soft laugh can’t help but escape your mouth at his words. Wade was always good at that. Being able to pull a laugh from you, no matter the circumstances. It was something he prided himself on, and he always made a point to try. “There they are.” Wade spoke with a smile.
You nod as you gather your thoughts. “Promise not to get mad?” Unsure of yourself, but knowing they deserve some sort of explanation for your lack of communication the past week. “We promise.” Wade says with a smile while glancing over at Logan, who gives a soft nod before capturing your other hand in his own.
Taking in deep breath, you nod before speaking. “Well, remember when I had that friend over the other day?” You begin, breaking eye contact with Wade to look back at the city in hopes it will help you to gather your racing thoughts. “Well..they had made a comment..” you trail off, not sure if you want to leave it at that and hope they don’t ask anymore. Logan squeezes your hand, his thumb rubbing your knuckles for reassurance. “And that was?” Fuck. You scrunch your nose at the question. Not really wanting to answer, but knowing now that it was out in the open, you had to say something.
“That I was lucky…to have two men who care more about personality than appearances..” You sit silent after the words fall out of your mouth. Waiting with bated breath for a reaction. You can feel the anger rolling off of the two men next to you despite their promise, and in your clouded thoughts for a moment, you believe that maybe they are mad with you somehow, but before you could blurt out an apology, you are pulled into Logan. His arms wrap around your waist to hold you close before Wade’s hand finds your chin, forcing you to meet his eyes. “Baby, you can’t possibly believe that.”
Your breath catches in your throat at the softness and worry in Wade's voice as he speaks to you. Tears once again prick the corners of your eyes at his question. A mix of emotions show in his eyes as he stares at you. Anger, of course, but more prominent is worry. Worry that you might believe someone else’s toxic words about their feelings for you. A tear slips down your cheek as you choke out your words. “It’s just..there are so many people out there…so many who look better than me. Who are better than me…” The thoughts that have been flooding your brain finally start to spill as more tears run down your cheeks. “I’m scared you might realize that and leave…”
“No.” Wade’s answer is quick to leave his mouth. It almost gives you whiplash at the sudden change in him as he stares you down. “N..no?” You weren’t really expecting that response. Logan is the one to speak next as his grip around your waist tightens. Your eyes moving to meet his for the first time tonight. “We ain’t going anywhere, sweetheart.” His voice is low, and you can hear the sincerity in his tone.
“But I-“ Your thought is cut short as Wade speaks up once again. “You are perfect. There is nothing either of us would change about you, honey.” Wade's tone holds no humor. Something you have never heard before. With all of the words that leave that man’s mouth, there is always, always a humorous undertone to them. But not this time. Your words get caught in your throat at his statement.
Logan’s free hand moves to cup your cheek. Rubbing his thumb across your skin and causing a few tears to fall. He whips them away, concern clear in his eyes. “Sweetheart, I’ve lived a very long life. In two different timelines, and I’ve met many different people.” His voice is soft, sweet. No gruff or angry undertone to it like it usually has. “There is no one out there that I would want if it isn’t you and that idiot sitting next to you.”
Wade pouts at Logan’s words but agrees with him as he places his hand on your thigh with a smile. “Besides, do you really think anyone else could handle me and Peanut? You are the only one I know who can look absolutely stunning while cleaning blood off the floor that we drag in without complaints and then use that very scary, but very sexy might I add, voice if I finish the rest of your shampoo!”
Another laugh escapes your mouth as you roll your eyes at him. “You still owe me a new one by the way..” Wade’s smile widens, and you swear you can feel butterflies in your stomach as you watch his playful eyes return. “See! And that’s why we are all so perfect together, Pookie. I use your shampoo, you get mad, I forgot to buy you more, and Peanut eventually breaks and buys it because he is sick of us arguing about it.” Logan lets out another grumble at his words, this time sounding more annoyed, but the small smile that he tries to hide gives him away.
A smile of your own soon finds its way to your face as you laugh. Wade was right. You all were perfect for each other. Fitting together like puzzle pieces. As corny as that sounded. But if being corny meant that you could stay here, wrapped in their arms, being told how much you belong here. With them. Then you would.
“I love you….Both of you.” Wade’s smile grows impossibly bigger as the grip Logan has on your waist tightens. “We love you too, Darlin’”
“And we always will……….now on another note that isn’t related to this conversation in any way, do you happen to know the address of that “friend” you had over the other night? I would like to pay them a friendly visit.”
Yeah, this is right where you belong.
