Today marks one year since Meat (our French bulldog) decided to shuffle off this mortal plane and continue on his journey. I have to say, I hadn't previously felt pain quite like the pain I felt when Meat died. I'd only known him for three years, but in those three years he and I made such incredible progress together, and he completely changed my outlook on French Bulldogs. He was deaf, so I learned how to use body language to communicate properly with him.He couldn't stand other dogs, but we got to a place of tolerance with Kal (my Akita). He survived a very complicated cancer removal surgery. He travelled to far-flung lands without complaint. He would come looking for me at night if I stayed up playing computer games too late. He would be ferociously protective over Natalie, but learned to trust Kal and me for guidance. He fell ill and recovered a number of times. He enjoyed many a backpack ride once he got too tired to make any decent length walks. At the end he fell ill with pneumonia. I'll never forget the expression on his face, desperately asking me for help on the way to the vet in Turkey because he couldn't breathe. Once there, however, he held strong and recovered to such a point that we felt hope, but it turns out he was just waiting for us to bring him home. He passed away peacefully in England. Thinking of him always brings great sadness, but also great joy. We'll miss him as long as we live, but wouldn't live nearly as richly had we never have known him. Journey well, Meatboi. 🥹🙏🕊
Bro I want a deaf dog so bad. I wanna give them a sign-name and teach them to respond to their name and watch them get excited when I sign 'park'. I wanna teach them 'treat' and 'good boy' and I just. I just wanna communicate to a pet in the easiest, most natural language for me like hearing people can.
I love all my kids

Adopting a deaf dog, Milkshake. 🐶
📌 From Dad James Coburn:
"This week, I’ve been reminded just how far this amazing dog has come.
Please share if you can. There are so many dogs who get adopted and then returned to the shelter because they may not be perfect.
Not everyone can adopt a dog with trauma or other difficulties, but if you’ve made the decision to rescue one of these animals, please don’t give up when it’s tough.
Time, love, energy, and safety. I understand there are more difficult situations than ours. But these animals need us to understand it’s hard, understand they are afraid, understand it takes time, and understand they’re not perfect but still deserving of love.
Thanks to all subscribers, friends and family for supporting this page. Visit your local animal shelter today and Adopt Don't Shop."

He was our Best Friend, and the reason the Wizzard entered our lives.
He was beautiful, and silly. When he was happy his tail did not wave, it curled up and down like a party favour. Like all Borzoi, he was an origami dog, folding himself into any location he desired.
He loved his big blue ball,
though he loved snowballs almost as much!
He was deaf, and partially blind, but he was always careful with his smaller friends and up for a good time.
His most favourite spot in the whole world was by his person's side, his second most favourite was "his" pond.
He was the Young Prince, then the Young(ish) Prince, as a nod to his advancing age. He was a rescue, a clown, a sweetheart and a dog who always tried his best. He set a good example for us all.
May he run in joy forever.
