A bit disappointed

Civilian was reading in the corner of the cafe when their book was ripped from their hands. They protested, ready to ream out some self entitled jerk who thought stealing a girl's book was flirting. Gaston is not the kind of man to take hints from.

Oh, fuck. That was the only thought in civilian's mind after processing who exactly the culprit was.

Villian stood before them, examining the stolen book. Beyond them, the barista and other customers were cowering in the opposite corner.

With deliberate, slow movements Civilian reached for and then put in their hearing aids.

"I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed that ignoring my orders was not purely due to the enthralling nature of this particular book." The villian made eye contact with civilian as they closed the book. "Now that you have joined us in the present and can hear my orders, why don't you join the others?"

The Mute and The Deaf

Her first mission had finally ended. It was tough being a deaf sorcerer. Especially when she was alone. Panda was still too small, Maki and Yuta were too strong, and Toge and her had no way to communicate efficiently in the field. There was always the second years, but they worked best as a team, leaving Shizuka alone again. She figured that would be the case anyways, she joined the school late, towards the end of what was supposed to be her second year.

She stumbles through the dorm, throwing down her bags before heading for a shower. She found Maki and Nobara already there. They sign to her “Welcome home” something they learned for Inumaki while she was gone.

The gesture made her smile. She bows in response before stepping into the shower. When she finally steps out, she notices a note left in the steam of the mirror. Yuji had ordered pizza and invited everyone to his room. On another mirror they mentioned Toge would be there. He was the first person to make her feel at home here, not that the others rejected her, but he could talk to her unlike the others.

Shizuka dresses quickly, trying not to run to see him. She could feel them laughing and talking, clearly not trying to be quiet. The door is ajar, a yellow light leaking out. She pushes the door open, her eyes immediately landing on Inumaki. He bows to her slightly in greeting and she bows back.

Yuji hands her a plate and a drink, which she thanks him for. She goes for some pizza, eyeing her classmate as he does. She notices he's saying something, but with his collar over his mouth she can't understand him. As she gets closer, Maki gets up and moves next to Yuta. The space next to Toge is now empty. Her heart races as she settles next to him, the seats close enough that their arms are touching.

Shizuka tries to keep up with the conversation, but everyone is talking over each other and Toge still has his mouth covered. He seems to notice her confusion and unzips his collar so she can see what he's saying. After about an hour they finally settle down and Yuji starts a movie.

Maki and Yuta cuddle on some cushions on the floor. Megumi, Nobara, and Yuji group up on Yuji’s bed. Toge and Shizuka sit on a makeshift couch Yuji made from the extra pillows in the vacant rooms.

Toge pulls out a small notebook, asking her about her mission. She sighs, signing about how difficult it was alone. He asks how she feels now that it's over, if she was feeling tired or like she wanted to give up sorcery. She shakes her head, signing slowly, “No, I'm okay. Will you just… hold me?”

Inumaki doesn't waste time to wrap his arm around her and pull her to his side. She can feel the others talking, assuming it's about her as he tightens his arm. She shifts, adjusting against him before taking a long deep breath, finally relaxing after her mission.

Go look up Ruby Cruz (esp her as Kit Tanthalos in the show Willow). That's her. That's just exactly how I imagine her in my head. Fallon has a short, choppy, layered pixie cut with dark brown, almost black hair. She has blueish-green eyes.

Outfits || Old, tattered layers of clothes that are all either homemade, stolen, or passed down from her dad. Lots of layers. Lots of hand and arm wraps bc i think its cool.

Fallon can be short-tempered, impulsive, and brash at times, but she is, at her core, a caretaker. Despite her rough around the edges exterior, she’s very family oriented, and prides herself on protecting and caring for those she loves. No matter the cost. She thrives off adventure and adrenaline, and doesn't hesitate to throw a few punches if the situation permits it.

Fallon grew up with her gaze fixed upward. Her mother was one of the first humans to ever fly on a machine, when planes were first being crafted, and Fallon always said she wanted to do the same. Even after an accident in the air took her mother’s life, that desire never truly went away, but it did get pushed to the side.

After her mother’s passing, Fallon’s family, now consisting of just her father and younger brother, had to move to the poorest part of Estrix. Dirty, crowded slums shoved haphazardly next to the factories that provided for the city’s many industries. Her father took up a job at one of these factories, but had to quit a few years down the line, after contracting a highly lethal lung infection common in the area, due to the fumes.

With her father now unable to work, Fallon does odd jobs around the city to provide for her family, but sometimes it isn’t enough. Sometimes, on desperate days, she has to turn to more desperate, more illegal measures to make sure her family will survive. Keep a hand on your wallet when she's in the room :).

Everyone, meet Maya! Being diagnosed as deaf since she was 4 years old, Maya is quite an optimistic girl with big dreams of becoming a famous author (since she has written several books that she needs help publishing), while occasionally being as chill as her cousin Zee. Maya mainly communicates using sign language and writing down what she wants to say.
