I love when people ask me about my drs!! this dr is pretty simple and follows the anime plot with a few minor changes (like L not dying)
I love this dr, but it’s more like a nostalgia dr rather than a long term one; one one hand because death note is nostalgic to me as I used to watch it as a kid and also because of the early 2000’s setting
a small part of my background story was actually inspired by a death note fanfic I read years ago and it stuck with me because it was so good!!
so basically I was adopted as a baby (like I was under a year old) from my home country by a young japanese couple. I lived a normal life, I was neighbors and classmates all until the end of high school with Light and our dads work in the same police department
I was “born” with shinigami eyes just like Beyond Birthday (honestly I scripted this out of convenience) but I can turn the effects on and off, so I won’t have to live my whole life knowing when people will die (ngl the more I think of it the more I’d rather script it out). as I kid I found a death note and befriended the shinigami that possessed it. she’s an original “character” and I named her Dissonantia Maria Beyondormason. she is relatives with the shinigami ranked number 1 and she used to be ranked 3rd, before she was replaced because she basically abandoned the shinigami realm to stay in my company in the human world (I also never used nor intend to use my death note, everything is for convenience)
here comes into play the bit about the fanfic I read years ago: so when a shinigami or people with shinigami eyes look at someone’s name and date of death, they will see the name the person has in their birth certificate, their “legal” name, but to kill somebody using the death note, you need their “real” name aka the name your parents decided on when you were born. when I was born my parents decided on a name, but flew the hospital without making any legal documents, so I was given a random name by the orphanage, then my name was legally changed again when I was adopted
it doesn’t really make sense within the manga/anime, but it’s my dr so I make the rules 🤷♀️
I created all of these safety rules because I wanna go in this dr with no memory of the anime and I wanna see what I would do under the circumstances
I never tried to shift here before, because as I said, it’s a nostalgia dr not a long term one. but here are some things I got from tarot (not scripted):
—Light belies I’m unassuming and even ignorant, that I could never understand him and his motives, but if he believes I’m a threat, he would literally not hesitate to kill me (made me a bit sad, but it’s expected and very in character of him) #Icantchangehim
—when he got under L’s suspicion, he tried to fake a friendship with me to diminish suspicions (idk why I can’t stand his fake ass)
—Light doesn't hold much emotional investment in me (later on when he becomes Kira), however he views me as someone with untapped potential, he feels that I’m not using my full capabilities effectively as why wouldn't I do more with them. he feels that despite my intelligence, I lack the discipline or long term foresight that he personally prides himself on (which is funny because my ignorant front is a facade. looks like I fooled him)
—Ryuk lowkey respects me more than he does with Light; he also loves all this drama but y’all already knew this
—Misa has a love-hate relationship with my independence and is jealous of it
—L never suspected me of being Kira but always knew I was hiding something
—Ryuk ofc knew I had a death note before Light knew since he could see Maria with me and loved to compare Light to me to confuse and annoy him
—Maria never told me Light has a death note, she let me find out on my own then she confirmed it for me
—when Light was younger he used to always compare himself to me (in our smarts and charisma mainly)
—Maria is very attached to me and even made Ryuk point at it indirectly
since I also don’t want to only focus on the negatives, I scripted some friends from my jjk and trv drs here so I can enjoy the experience as well and have a semi-normal life. atm I only scripted in yuji, nobara, megumi (and he has a normal family life with toji, his mom and sister), draken, mikey, baji, maybe I will add chifuyu and mitsuya too idk yet
