Final version of the Object d'Art dress from @decades_of_style in a vintage Egyptian print cotton with lime silk accents and vintage buttons. Definitely looks better on me than my dress form! It's incredibly comfortable even in a fabric that doesn't have any stretch and will be perfect for a hot summer day. For any project there's always something to learn and do differently in the next one, but ultimately it works. Sooooooo... I'm just gonna be honest that tonight was a struggle in finding the will power to post these photos. I've put on weight again, and while I'm still under my heaviest, I really, really, really do not like how I look right now. It's a difficult thing to look in the mirror and feel that significantly less of you should be in existence. That said... This is my first finished attempt at the Object d'Art Dress from @decades_of_style and overall I like it. I upcycled two cheap ill fitting amazon dresses and a free skirt into this color blocked version. Some of the billowing in the back is due to reusing fabric that had stretched across the bias. After doing my muslin mock-up I decided to omit the kick pleat and the zipper, took 8 inches out of the skirt and 2 inches out of the back bodice. I also did top stitching since ya girl is just not gonna do hand stitching if she has any way to avoid it. One more test run is in order to dial in the neckline and the triangle accents before I do the final in a lovely vintage fabric I have stashed away. I can see the improvement in my tailoring and pattern making skills even if my finish work still is a bit lacking.
