Day 19: Mythical

Rainbow Crow is one of my favorite stories. Its a Lenape legend about sacrifice to save others.

Decembird day 2: Alicanto A bird from Chile that eats gold or silver. It can lead miners to gold, but if it notices it is followed, it will lure them to a fatal fall. At night, its wings shine beautifully and its eyes glow in a strange way. Alicanto is both represented as a gigantic bird of prey or a small songbird. The design is based off Pablo Zabal’s ceramics. A mother Great Horned Owl goes into maximum fluff in her threat display to trick any predators into thinking she’s much bigger in order to better protect her beloved muppet owlets.

Nothing fluffier than a silkie chicken. It’s like petting a cloud make of baby giggles and kitten tails.

American Kestrel

Day 9: Flying

American kestrels fly into the wind to maintain a hover while they scout for food below. Without the headwind the kestrel cannot hover in place like a hummingbird, but they’re nevertheless amazingly acrobatic flyers.
