These legs should be out pounding the streets, completing my progression run tonight. But I’m not feeling it. It has been a busy few days back at work this week & it has taken its toll. Today if this the first I’ve finished before six & yesterday was over 12 hours in the factory. Most of it on the shop floor, not sat at my desk like usual! I’ve also had a few trips to the doctor over the past fortnight as we try to work out what is wrong with my hands. In the past couple of months I’ve had x-rays, blood test, nerve conduction tests. All finding nothing, but I keep dropping things & getting pins & needles! Because it started & is predominantly not my left side I had a stroke assessment today, just to check. It is all fine, but a shock that that was in the GP’s thoughts. On to the neurologist, it looks like a neck scan next! Again the doctor, has as almost every health professional I’ve seen for any reason, told me I shouldn’t be running marathons. I’m not built for it, I’m a sprinter, an explosive power athlete & as such the damage I’m doing to myself is becoming considerably! Of course I want to run the marathon I’m booked on for in September, I want to run London one day, I want to run an ultra in the future. Even if I drop the extra timber I’m carrying, it won’t make much of a difference. I’m literally wrecking myself & will suffer more as I get older! Not sure how I feel about it all, but definitely plays into the feeling about not going running tonight. The plan is for a 16 mile run Saturday. I think I’ll run walk it & see how I feel. Football again Sunday, second leg is the charity semi final! A fork in the road... ...with pretty colours... How many times in our lives do we reach a fork in the road. There are many right?! Sometimes the decisions are tough. Sometimes it's about whether to have chocolate as your treat or crisps 🤣 Sometimes there are so many pros and cons to weigh up for each side, your brain gets fried thinking about it and then you (or at least I) give up trying to make the decision. One side is following your heart, one your head. One side makes you happy, one keeps you safe. One side is the 'right' thing to do, but could be damaging to you personally.
