This is a game that uses a deck of cards for each player, and constructing your deck tells us something about your character's health and abilities. The only person that uses dice is the GM; everything the players do is resolved by their deck.

Substance-wise, you're playing a parasite-human hybrid, struggling to find a place in a world that seeks to reduce them to tropes or generalizations. There's a lot of themes around langauge and the power that words have over our reality.

There's a lot at play here, and the designer (Smunchy Games) has written a few supplements for Parselings for folks who want some setting and adventure guides. It might be worth checking out!

Welcome to the landing page for all things Four Suits!

Hey all!  It’s awesome to be back on Tumblr, and awesome to finally have a place to congregate most, if not all, information about my game. I’m excited to share updates and art as I move into development, and hope to have a more regular posting schedule for you all. 

That being said, what exactly is “Four Suits?”

“Four Suits” has been a passion project of mine since middle school. It has been through many differing iterations, starting out as a graphic novel, then getting turned into a young-adult book series, and now is being developed as a deck-building RPG. This story and these characters have grown with me, and I’m very excited to introduce you all to the world of Decadia and the cast of “Four Suits.” “Four Suits” follows the story of Aric Rydell, who is suddenly (and quite violently) thrown into a world of magic, monsters, and mystery, as he’s inducted into a fabled group known as the “Guardians.” The Guardians are working to investigate the cause of (and hopefully find a solution for) Decadia’s chaotic and misaligned seasons, which threaten the rocky peace held between the continent’s two expansive kingdoms.

Apologies for the lack of updates, I kinda just forgot about updating on social media (I have to say it’s a rather nice break).

Anyhow what you see above is the Archer’s ‘NOCKED AND READY’ skill, akin to the overwatch ability from X-com except that she will attack any and all enemies that come within range. Positioning your units right and luring enemies in is key to fully utilizing this skill!

Enemies with “Flying” passive ability are able to bypass obstacles which would otherwise block a unit’s path. Not only that they are also immune to tile effects such as the Poison shrooms seen here.
