Jason, staring lovingly at Grant: I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.

Grant: *trying to balance a pencil on his nose, failing*

I looked up black and orange desserts for more dedelark stuff and then I remembered Halloween exists! That’s black and orange. And Lark could just pass her appearance off as a costume! Pls give me dedelark Halloween ideas 🙏🥺

They definitely do dorky as hell Halloween costumes together. I actually think that once Dede is a published author they dress up as her book characters!

Okay so Lark Smith is a Czarnian whose parents were merchants so they were simply… not there when Lobo killed all their people. They ended up on Earth and had Lark. She was homeschooled until high school bc obviously she’s an alien. Because she wasn’t able to make friends as a kid her parents tried to offset that by getting her a ton of pets. She was in a band in high school and Dede wrote a lot of the songs!! She’s a big yapper. Like talks all the time. She either becomes a vet or a doctor. It was originally vet but @andi-dromeda said something about Lark their oc Spencer going to med school together and I’m lowkey obsessed with that. She knows about hero stuff but isn’t one herself.

Now on to my beloved Dede. She’s a little more developed bc she’s been rolling around in my head for longer.

Deidra Alice West my babygirl. She goes by Dede to most people with the exception of Wally who calls her Ally, and Donna who also gets away with calling her that too sometimes. She’s Wally’s twin sister and her hero name is Flicker. So all speedsters have adhd obviously but I thought it would be interesting if hers was more inattentive than hyperactive. I also ran with the idea of “speedsters actually live faster than everyone else” so because everything is slow around her she’s kind of lethargic a lot of the time. She zones out a lot. I wouldn’t say she’s Wally’s impulse control but she definitely reins him in sometimes. She’s a writer and some of her published works are literally just edited versions of Titans missions. 😭😭 She had a big crush on Donna for a really long time (hence the getting away with calling her Ally sometimes) Her and Roy are the friends who you can’t tell if they actually like each other or not because they’re constantly bickering.

So they meet when Lark starts going to high school and they’re sort of default friends because weird kid and quiet kid you know. But they actually really like each other. Lark is able to talk for as long as she wants and Dede just listens, it’s great. Once Dede gets over Donna they’re DISGUSTINGLY in love. Lark fell first Dede fell harder tbh.

@autisticrosewilson was the one who picked their first names. I knew I wanted Alice with the nickname Ally but thought it was too cheesy if it was her first name. And for Lark’s last name I had a vision of her parents looking up “common earth last names” when they landed 😭😭

What’s the dumbest thing Dede has had to stop Lark from doing and what’s the dumbest thing Lark has to stop Dede from doing?

Lark is constantly stopping Dede from running into stuff. Usually speedsters have good spatial awareness, they have to. But Dede is a big fan of reading and walking so…

Dede mostly has to stop Lark from bringing animals home. There have been many times when she’s shown up to the house with pigeons that Dede has to make her put back outside.

What’s Dede and Lark’s favourite dates?

Dede prefers quieter things. I think her favorite is staying in and watching movies and cooking for Lark.

Mae doesn't understand all of it because her bugs aren't a part of her like her plants are but every now and then she gets a strong thought or feeling that's not entirely hers, this has led to her accurately guessing Lark's cravings before she herself knows what she wants (picking up on whatever her body is lacking most at the moment) and routinely sending her pictures of other cool bugs when Lark is upset.

Dede doesn't question it too much, but it is very useful for planning gifts and surprise parties. Mae can also easily find Lark in a crowd even in a group of other goths because she can always tell where her bugs are!
