is the ‘people not reading comics’ thing really so widespread? I don’t have tiktok and don’t have much stake in any of the ‘major’ DC characters, so I always assumed as someone on the outside looking in that it was a loud minority I guess

No it’s badddddd. It’s not that those people consume NO dc media but they usually watch young justice and some DCAU/DCAMU stuff and instead of treating that as it’s own thing they talk about it like is 100% comic accurate and when you tell them it isn’t they don’t listen. The “loud minority” is the ONLY fanfic people.

So there’s like levels to it ig. It’s also not as bad when you’re not into like the major characters.

every time i post something like this someone gets mad at me but i really don't know what to tell these people. every year we get an influx of people who will enter these spaces for a shared interest in comics that they not only have not read, they often have no interest in reading and sometimes will actively degrade the entire medium to justify not reading them. and if you express any discontent with this arrangement you're the bad guy for not enabling a deeply incurious practice of not wanting to engage with art or its creators beyond digestible abridged versions plastered over slideshows of out of context panels and stolen fanart

you know when you get Autism Mad. like something happens in a non-ideal way and in your brain you know it literally doesnt matter but in your other more autistic brain youre like screaming & scrying & shitting the bed etc. i think you should be able to go into settings and opt out of that. i have better things to get upset about than failing to put up a decoration on the optimal day or being too stubborn to solve a problem via simple communication
