I’ve spent the better part of a year studying Ezra and Nehemiah and the reconstruction of Jerusalem, and what stood out to me the most was that it didn’t happen because of one person or one leader. It took many. They came together to build something that would last. . The same is true today. You, know that thing about it taking a village? Yeah, it’s really true. I’m so grateful for the women who have rallied around, to champion the message of #DeeperWaters. For someone who devotes her life to working with words, it’s strange to be without any. The two words “thank you” don’t seem sufficient, but for now, I pray they will do. . Thank you! . Thank you for all the ways you’ve encouraged me and supported me. Repost from @denisejhughes . So my friend asked, “How can you tell when God is speaking to you? I mean, how do you really know it’s God’s voice you’re hearing and not your own random thoughts?” It’s a fair question. We want to be sure we’re not making decisions based on a whim. We want to know when it’s really God speaking and not last night’s egg salad sandwich. . Here’s the thing…When we read God’s Word, we hear His voice right there on the pages. Over and over He speaks with consistency. The voice of God never contradicts what is written in His Word. And His voice is so contrary to what we hear every day in this world the difference is radical. . The world tells us to satisfy our needs and cravings with whatever means available. To accumulate more possessions and live in self-indulgence. To promote ourselves and lift ourselves up. . But God’s path runs counter to our culture. God tells us to put other people’s interests ahead of our own. He even goes so far as to tell us to pray for our enemies. Not only that, but He says if our enemies are hungry, we should feed them, and if our enemies are thirsty, we should give them something to drink. . This is the God we serve, and the only way to know His voice is to hear what He says in His Word. #DeeperWaters
