me gouging holes in my skin during a dermatillomania episode: i eat pain for breakfast
me getting a tiny papercut:
being a quiet borderline is so fucking... painful. and so goddamn lonely.
the amount of rage i have at myself is incredible. one little thing goes wrong and i blame myself and scratch at my arm until it bleeds and scabs or pull chunks of my hair out to the point that i have bald spots.
i hate myself so fucking much. and i hate me for what i do to myself because i hate myself so much.
it never ends.
I don’t know how many hours I’ve wasted destroying my skin and nails
Me: stop picking ur skin
Also me, picking my skin: i'm tryin!!
This makes me cringe @ myself but I'm going to post it anyway lololol
derma tips for healing cuts/sores
• put band aids over the spots you pick the most, and apply coconut oil, ointment, or acne cream over the sores on your face before covering them.
• when you pop a pimple, wrap an ice cube in a cotton ball soaked in rose water, salicyclic acid, or some kind of liquid lotion or face serum. don’t press too hard.
• for me, a spot of tea tree oil and a little bit of aloe or honey helps with minor cuts, and for deeper sores, neosporin or salicylic acid.
• drink as much water as you can! try it with mint or a splash of juice, or drink tea.
• try a lighter moisturizer to reduce breakouts and prevent clogged/infected cuts.
• try face masks with caffeine or ginseng to reduce swelling, but only use the face masks that already come in a stretchy masks so you won’t have to wash or pick anything off.
❤️❤️❤️
I successfully avoided tearing my skin apart tonight, and ngl I'm super proud of myself for that
Derma tips
I’m sure at least some of you have heard these before, but here’s some stuff I’ve personally found helpful:
Disclaimer: these may not be super healthy, but I doubt they cause much more damage than tearing your skin open. These take a little bit of foresight, which boy howdy do I know isn’t always possible. Hopefully you can find better coping methods with time, but these may be helpful stepping stones
1. Glue Put liquid glue (I use the most kid-friendly Elmer’s glue I can find since that seems safest/what I was advised to use) on your skin in patches. Let it dry. Peel and repeat as needed.
2. Nail polish (I’ve found gel nail polish works best for me, with at least 2 coats) Paint your nails, let it dry, and pick the polish (the reason I like at least 2 coats is it makes it easier to pick without also getting your nail)
