I’m gay and angry so I made a list of D*fy’s Sins (towards Smosh in particular)

Claimed they were giving everyone a month’s notice for the shutdown

Actually gave everyone a week’s notice of the shutdown

Made them work out of an office building that was essentially a DMV

In a location that wasn’t convenient for literally anyone

Ignored all feedback on the office and its location

Had Smosh Games and Smosh Pit on opposite sides of said office

Hired barely any women in any department

Ignored all feedback from the actual talent on what they should be doing with their content, and were patronizing and dismissive towards any ideas, especially from female cast members

HAD PEOPLE ON THE EXECUTIVE LEVEL WHO SUGGESTED THINGS LIKE BLACK SMOSH, GAY SMOSH, ETC.

Didn’t care about office morale and opposed Smosh Summer/Winter Games when the crew wanted to make it happen

Forced the cast to make shows that they weren’t interested in and didn’t feel suited for, to gain as many advertising opportunities as possible

When Matt Raub pushed for a summer games because the fans were asking for it, they gave him a week to make it and an eighth of the budget he needed, just to try to discourage them from actually making it happen

STOLE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN WITHHELD PAYCHECKS FROM ACTIVE AND PAST EMPLOYEES

Despite knowing that Smosh’s content and revenue was the backbone of the company, they kept cutting budget on all Smosh productions until they had almost nothing to work with

Made the workspace so unbearable that Sohinki and Lasercorn felt like they had to leave to have creative freedom

Had Wes working full time as an editor, full time as an on-screen personality, AND doing all of the smosh games tech production work for months straight, all while only paying him as an editor, so he would come to work at 9 am and not leave until 4 am, which caused him to be so constantly stressed and sick to the point where even opening adobe premiere would make him nauseous and Matt Raub himself had to help fix it because none of the executives would listen to Wes directly about it

Made Smosh Games make a 2-videos-a-day schedule right out the gate when they had very little in terms of resources and employees, which resulted in 80 hour work weeks for the entire cast

Forced all members that left through contractual obligation to be completely unable to take legal action to get the money D*fy had stolen or even talk publicly about the working conditions or unfair treatment

Defy Media not only stole from their creators but betrayed them.

Disappearing with no warning, Defy Media left 50 creators jobless. No check, no nothing. They took money from their employees multiple times, half of the time didn’t even pay them only to make their company look good. Defy want to look beautiful with money to back them up to grab bigger parthers to have them on board. Matpat explains in detail in this videos what is really going on and his experiences.
