Updated designs for Dekka (Aika's mom) and Shakra! Aika on the left for comparison

For some lore: Aika is a child of Dekka and Mystral, a higher being, making her a demigod. Her mother's species (kin) is called Adderbolt. I remember seeing some people interpreting Shakra as a dragonfly, and I wanted to give that a little nod in my AU. Adderbolt is a 15th century term for a dragonfly, adder meaning venomous snake, and bolt meaning arrow. This immediately made me think of Aika and her more reptilian traits (including a snake tongue which she got in a recent design update), and I think it's interesting that she still fits the description of her mother's kin, despite being "tainted" with higher being blood.

As you can see, Shakra is also a part of that species, although she is not related to Dekka or Aika. However, she still greatly resembles Aika's mother, who passed away around 30 years ago, which made the first meeting between her and Aika immediately go south. Shakra visited Dirtmouth to get in contact with Cornifer and Iselda for cartography related business. and upon seeing her, Aika believed she just saw her mother, only to be hit by the realization and the painful memory of her loss. She ran away, leaving Shakra confused, and since then she feels uncomfortable in her presence, even if she knows it's unfair towards the warrior.

Shakra in the AU has a somewhat minor role, mainly because she doesn't actually live in Dirtmouth, where most of the AU events take place. That said, being a cartographer who in this version of the story travels outside of Pharloom to map the regions, I imagine she would have decent enough reasons to visit Dirtmouth's cartography shop. And that means she can occasionally interact with the other characters, too.
