Why we don't engage much with the UTDR multiverse anymore

To put it frankly...we are uncomfortable with the transphobia and non-binary erasure. Non-binary identities are frequently erased in fandoms. UTDR (especially the UTDR multiverse) is one of the fandoms that does this most horrendously of all.

Something really difficult about being a UTDR fan was unpacking our internalized exorsexism (bigotry against non-binary people) and trying to figure out who we are and aren't comfortable following/supporting.

Once upon a time, years ago, we used to be more willing to brush it off. "They just don't know better" we would tell ourselves. "It's just an AU" we would say. But that ignores the deeper issue - which is that non-binary genders are treated merely as fictional, or merely as inhuman (being given constantly to robots, aliens, shapeshifters, etc), or merely as optional. People think they can just set aside the enbyhood of characters for their own personal convenience.

Frisk, Chara, Kris, Napstablook, Seam, Monster Kid, and many others in UT & DR are canonically non-binary. Taking away this aspect from them is erasure, and contributes negatively to the struggles non-binary people are already facing.

We don't mind when people make their versions of these characters use multiple sets of pronouns (ie; they/she, they/he, etc).

We also don't mind when people make their versions of these characters non-binary boys or non-binary girls (ie; demiboys, demigirls, boyflux, girlflux, multigender, neugirl, neuboy, etc.)

We can also accept when people make their versions of these characters use binary-centric terms (ie; sister, brother, mother, father, girlfriend, boyfriend, etc.) Many non-binary people prefer these terms over aporine/androgynous counterparts.

And, of course, we are perfectly fine with people making them feminine-presenting or masculine-presenting (as non-binary people can have any variety of presentation, including feminine, masculine, androgynous, neutral, xenine, outherine, aporine, etc.)

But the more we grow out of our internalized exorsexism, the harder it is for us to interact with people who made these characters into binary men or binary women, who use strictly she/her or he/him pronouns, and who use strictly binary-centric terms.

Non-binary genders are not optional.

Non-binary people deserve representation.

Non-binary erasure is unacceptable.

VesselSwap Premise

An Unknown player hacked the Deltarune's game programming in order for their created Vessel to be their Avatar as opposed to Kris. However, after booting the game a glitch occurred; fracturing the controlling Soul and scattering half of it throughout space and time. Even though the swap was a success, as the Vessel replaced Kris throughout the History of the new timeline, It became inaccessible to the player. The story follows the two as they explore the vast cosmos of the Deltarune (and, by extension, Undertale) Multiverse.
