On second thought, Rashid dropping hints a minute later makes me lean away from the coincidence thing:

The Gatekeeper and Demonreach
In turn coat I found it interesting that the Gatekeeper has a past with Demonreach, Dresden suspects that's how demonreach has his limp. Why would Rashid try and enter the island prison? And was his intentions such that the island had to defend itself. Or did he try the same thing Dresden has and form a bond only to then find out he was would not be able to. This is interesting.
