sorry but most star trek actors are kinda bad at acting. just being real. they're very good at being a star trek actor, but in anything else they're still a star trek actor. you can just see it in their eyes. they need to technobabble, they need repetitive storylines and 4:3 closeups. the one exception should always be the captain because they're kind of everything at once in a star trek show so they need some real weight to throw around. the rest of them are locked into this really specific set of actor boundaries and the good ones fucking flourish but they can't recreate it on the outside
