Depressive au
At some point, one demon steals ALL of Hazelnut's abilities.
Due to her illness, Scully leaves this world. He could have lived on with Hazel's poison, but her poison is gone. Before he dies, he invents some kind of chip, and inserts it into Her brain.
After his death, she falls into severe depression. Her eyes turn white because of the tears. She quit her job as a teacher and her job as a hitman. She has completely left the city and works in a nature reserve.
She also took over Scully's company and is the owner.

The flat reeked of neglect. Tea gone to mould sat in a chipped mug beside the armchair, and the ashtray—overflowing long after he’d quit pretending he would empty it—had become its own small monument to failure. The floor was a mosaic of laundry and takeaway containers, paper crusted to paper, nothing clean, nothing alive. Dust blurred the edges of everything, softening the sharp lines of existence into a dull haze.
The curtains were drawn, thick with grime where the city’s soot had kissed them for weeks. Only the glow from his laptop screen cut through the gloom—a pallid blue light humming low, constant, faithful. It had been days since he’d properly looked away from it. The faint whir of the fan filled the air like breath from another body, something to keep him company.
Harry sat slouched on the sagging sofa, his wand somewhere he didn’t care to look for. The screen shifted—images, words, faces—none of them meaning anything. He’d stopped reading. He just let the motion wash over him, hypnotic and empty, a flicker of proof that the world still moved even if he didn’t.
The silence pressed in when the screen dimmed, so he nudged the mouse, desperate to keep the hum alive. Light over dark. Noise over thought.
He couldn’t remember when he’d last gone outside. The plants Hermione had given him were long dead, their brittle stems curled in surrender. A half-finished letter to no one lay beneath a takeaway menu. And still, he couldn’t bring himself to care to finish it or toss it in the bin.
The world had gone on, indifferent and shining. London pulsed outside his window with its ordinary breath—lorries groaning down the street, children shrieking in play, couples walking home under shared umbrellas under the twinkling lights of Covent Garden. All of it belonged to a life that had quietly shut him out.
Ginny had returned to The Burrow, her laughter now reserved for those who could return it. She’d tried, Merlin, she had tried—but love, he’d learned, was no match for the wreckage of a man who refused to be whole. His friends had folded themselves into their own small eternities—weddings, children, photographs of Christmas mornings he was no longer expected to attend. He imagined they mentioned his name sometimes, in past tense, perhaps even hoping he might claw his way out of whatever rut he had dug for himself. But Harry had long ago spent the last of his hope. He was bankrupt, hollowed by survival, and entirely out of credit for better days
What he had to keep company were memories that clung like rust—bitter, yes, but beloved too, their weight a kind of penance he could not put down. The faces of the dead came to him as vividly as the living: Fred’s grin half-lit in laughter; Lupin’s quiet eyes; Tonks reaching for a child who would never know her voice. They drifted through his dreams not as ghosts, but as companions who refused to let him go.
He loved them still—each one, as fiercely as he loved the ones who had survived. Ron’s letters unopened on the counter. Hermione’s worried voice on the Floo. Even Ginny’s absence had become a kind of devotion, a wound that proved he’d once been wanted.
And yet love offered no peace. It only bound him tighter to what he had lost. Every breath carried their shadows; every sunrise burned like a punishment for his staying. The war had ended, yes—but he remained its witness, stranded in the space between mercy and memory.
Some nights, he thought this must be what purgatory was: to love too many souls at once, and to belong fully to none. Life had settled into a kind of penance—each day another line in a story that should have ended chapters ago. He kept turning the pages, not out of hope, but out of mercy for the ones who still cared. It wasn’t living; it was enduring. And enduring was its own cruel, silent debt. He was almost grateful for the silence, keeping him in its predictable cloak, until the knock came and broke it open.
The sound cleaved through the blessed silence like the blade of a guillotine; ending one vibration to begin another. For a long moment, Harry didn’t move. No one knocked anymore—anyone who would have, had long since stopped. He waited, half expecting it to fade into imagination, another echo conjured by loneliness. But when it came again, it was measured, deliberate, and unmistakably real.
He rose slowly, limbs stiff and untrusting, moving through the wreckage of his flat like a ghost. Dust motes drifted in the pale laptop light, the fan’s hum the only witness as his hand reached for the doorknob, half-expecting it to pass straight through.
The door opened to a shadow of a man, drawn from memory and night. Snape stood framed in the doorway, neither entirely imagined nor fully of this world, a presence that made the room feel sharper, colder. Time had carved new lines into his face, yet the familiar austerity remained: the strict posture, the high sweep of his collar, the sharp, watchful eyes like wet ink catching every flaw in the room. Grey streaked the black of his hair, threading winter among the shadows, yet he looked—if possible—more alive than Harry remembered, taller, sharper, and impossibly tangible.
For a moment, Harry froze, heart hammering. The instinct to brace for scorn was automatic, but Snape said nothing. He just stood there, and Harry couldn’t help wondering—after everything, what could possibly bring him here now?
The air between them hummed with a familiar tension, sharp and exacting, like the pause before a duel. No wands would be raised, yet every unspoken word felt poised to strike. Harry’s fingers twitched at his side, uselessly searching for his wand. Why him? Out of everyone in the world—why him?
He’d buried this man a hundred times in memory, laid him to rest in reluctant respect.
Of everyone he’d lost, Snape was the only one Harry had never wished to see again. Not out of hatred—those fires had long burned out—but because some ghosts were meant to stay buried. He’d have given anything to see Sirius again, or Lupin, or even Hedwig swooping down out of the sky. But Snape? Snape had been granted his uneasy peace, his redemption sealed in death.
And yet, here he was—silent, solid, decidedly uninvited. Harry’s throat tightened. He wanted to shut the door. He didn’t.
Remember my attempt at a toxic Sonadow AU? I’ve been thinking about it—adding onto it
It’s been a while since the accident. Shadow comes back to a silent apartment. He thinks nothing of it at first since it’s late, and Sonic and Omega don’t talk (to each other, or in general in Sonic’s case)
Then, Shadow finds Sonic, slumped in the living room on the ground. He’s finally gone too far with the drinking, something he’s actively been trying to do. But Shadow refuses to let Sonic die, so he takes him to the hospital for alcohol poisoning
It’s a bit of work since Sonic doesn’t have any documentation, but they eventually get it figured out. When Sonic wakes up, he and Shadow are instantly fighting. They do so for days. The line I had prepared (why are you punishing me?/you’re punishing yourself, Shadow) happens about now
All of this—from the suicide attempt to the fighting—forces Shadow to accept that he’s helpless. He isn’t cut out for this situation. Therefore, after a lot of research and deliberation, he convinces Sonic to go to a rehab facility
Sonic gets professional help. The survivors—Charmy, Vanilla, Cream, and then also Mighty and Ray, maybe Silver and Blaze and any other IDW character I don’t want to kill off in the accident (except maybe I should kill Silver off…)—visit. When Sonic has gotten out, Shadow is the one to pick him up. They aren’t necessarily on good terms, but they talk instead of fight
Because Orange Juice by Noah Kahan is in this AU’s soundtrack, they go to a party to celebrate. Sonic goes back to staying with Shadow, and eventually, they move to Angel Island to guard the Master Emerald
And a little after Cream, Charmy, Ray, and Trip (because I haven’t forgotten about her) graduate (ish? They kinda go to school, kinda don’t), the others come back
like to give him a hug
That moment, secured in her arms and outside his well-built wall, Jamie sobbed for the first time in three months.
His body shuddered against hers, taking her with it, living with her. Through her.
“Claire,” he said, at last, his voice croaked as his bloodshot eyes found hers. Found her. “Help me.”
His hands searched for hers, grasping them tightly.
A light breeze moved the white curtains above them, inflating their chests.
Life got claimed again.
