Resting is productive!
Productivity is defined as something that yields favourable, beneficial or useful results.
By resting when you need to, taking breaks to look after yourself, and spending time de-stressing so that things don't overwhelm you, you are doing something that reduces anxiety/depression/pain, increases your capacity to function and provides you with some relief. These are favourable, beneficial and useful results!
Next time you feel guilty for resting when you need to because you "could be productive right now", remember that resting IS productive!
your recovery doesn't have to be aesthetic or beautiful. it's not going to be a straight line, nor is it going to be continuedly going forward. sometimes you take a step, or a few, back and that's okay. your recovery will not look the same as your friends, your parents, your peers. what matters is that you're recovering and you're doing your best. im proud of you.
You matter to someone. People would notice if you were gone. People would miss you if you were gone. The cashier at that gas station you go to. The librarian at your old school. That person who follows your blog but never had the courage to talk to you. The worker who knows your order at starbucks or subway. Maybe the people who should care about you the most don't. Maybe they're gone. But people still do care about you. You still matter.
Weird happy moment, realised I'm three years away from my 40's and I was wondering why I wasn't upset about getting old like everyone told me I would be. Then I realised I pretty much spent most of my life not thinking I was going to see another year due to how bad my depression was but I am and it kinda makes me happy
Today doesn’t have to be good for you to give tomorrow a try. I know it can be unbearable, but you deserve to see better days.
So now I’m asking you to give tomorrow a try. You don’t have to think about it if it makes you nervous, just let the morning reach you.
I can’t say enough that I’m pro recovery. Sometimes I want to give up, either on life or something small. But days will pass and things will be better. I have to remind myself everyday that life is worth living for.
I have some great ambitions in life and I need to at least try to achieve them. I can only do that if I’m alive.
