I really didn't like Azriel pov, like did he really have to be shitty about Lucien but I can't hate him. Anyways I don't know if I'll stick around for the next book but I really hope his book is where he grows, learns to love himself and know that he is worthy of love.
Hey honey! I am sorry this Az chapter hurt you, I know the last thing we want to see is a fave behaving in such a way :( If it’s any consolation remember that Az (and any character for that matter) is more than just those nine pages. We quite literally just caught him in a looooow moment. I completely agree with you that his treatment of Lucien only made it worse. It would be one thing to say he’s attracted to Elain, but quite another to say he would kill Lucien to get Elain. He is being envious, sad and lonely and letting that combination dictate how he understands things. He’s having an immature moment, and I think he does know he’s not at his morally best because he ends up leaving as per Rhys’ command.
But remember he has not always been like that, he was selfless when he went to rescue Elain, he was understanding when he gave Lucien his blades for his quest, he was welcoming to Feyre when she was depressed, he offered to teach her how to fly because he understands fear, he is loyal to a fault when he was willing to go flying into battle even with a tree tied to his back, he kept Velaris safe for 50 years, he’s the character who has so much game that doesn’t need to spout poetry to get ladies and the one who starts to vanish into shadows when the moment is so cringe he just rather *not*, he’s the one who has won the most snowball fights (and HE LOST THIS YEAR so that can tell you he’s not being his best self right now), he’s the one who will love Mor until he is a whisper of darkness between the stars (anyone who does not believe this still applies even when that love is not romantic can come and fight me right now).
I’m not saying lets excuse him, all I’m suggesting is, we’re in the middle of the story.. plenty of things can happen before the dust settles, lets not forget of the mysterious Illyrian who we met a couple books ago. We all have highs and lows, moments that in the future we will look back and think I should have been fucking better. For instance, we met Nesta at a low, of course her low is not Az’s low, but it was a low nonetheless, and we’re all here to see her grow; we met Az at an “okay-decent” point, now we’ll see his looow looww and then we’ll see his growth.
