Zvládneš vyjmenovat všechny naše prezidenty ve správném pořadí (1918 až teď)?
jasný, no problem

Champagne flows as former general defeats billionaire populist rival Andrej Babiš by largest margin in the country’s history
A billionaire populist friendly to Vladimir Putin lost a race for president. 🎆
No, not THAT billionaire. But former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš lost in a landslide in the second round of the presidential election in the Czech Republic on Saturday. Babiš was defeated by Petr Pavel – a former general and NATO commander.
With nearly all the votes counted, returns showed Pavel prevailing by the emphatic margin of 58.3% to 41.68%, the largest ever recorded in a Czech presidential poll and reflecting an advantage of more than 958,000 votes nationwide.
Pavel’s supporters immediately hailed the result as a victory for liberal democracy over oligarchic populism, which they believe Babiš represents.
As the scale of his triumph became clear, Pavel, 61, a former army chief of staff and Nato second-in-command, was greeted by ecstatic chants of “president, president” from champagne-drinking supporters as he mounted the podium at his campaign headquarters in Prague’s Karlín district.
In a very unusual move, Zuzana Čaputová the anti-populist president of nearby Slovakia dropped by at Pavel’s election night celebration.
In a highly symbolic moment, he then received the congratulations on stage of Zuzana Čaputová, Slovakia’s president, who – like Pavel – has spoken out against populism and invoked the values of Václav Havel, the one-time dissident who was the first post-communist president of the former Czechoslovakia.
In recent years Russia has attempted to manipulate the Czech media. It’s certainly possible Russia may have had something to do with a false report of Pavel’s death.
The outcome represented a personal vindication for the pro-western Pavel, who was forced to deny false eve-of-poll reports of his own death announced on a counterfeit version of his campaign website, sparking allegations of dirty tricks and a police investigation.
In countries which have both a president and prime minister there is a great deal of difference in the powers of the president.
In France, the president is preeminent. In Germany, where the prime minister has the title chancellor (Kanzler), the president is mostly a symbolic figurehead. The Czech presidency falls in the middle – somewhat like Portugal. So this is more than a token victory for pro-democracy and anti-authoritarian forces.
In the first round of voting, Pavel ended up just narrowly ahead of Babiš.
In the second round on Saturday with over a 70% turnout, Pavel picked up the support of most of the eliminated candidates and decisively defeated Babiš.
Unity and high turnout are necessary ingredients to defeat pro-authoritarian populists.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine did Babiš no favors. It reminded Czechs of the 1968 Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia which repressed the pro-democracy “Prague Spring”. The Czech Republic has strongly supported Ukraine and has taken in many Ukrainian refugees.
Last autumn Prague renamed a street at the entrance of the Russian Embassy “Ukrajinských hrdinů” (Ukrainian Heroes Street).
Petr Pavel’s election is the latest sign of Russia’s plummeting influence in Eastern Europe. The moderate Prime Minister Petr Fiala defeated Andrej Babiš in the 2021 parliamentary elections even before Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Můžeme prosím mluvit o tom, jak moc je Petr Pavel fotogenický?
