Desirethnicity tips!

Do’s:

Study history!

Attend (ally-inclusive) events, such as pride events, protests, or awareness campaigns!

Eat more food relating to the culture, and learn to cook it!

Make more friends of that ethnicity! 

Learn an ethnic language, if applicable!

Make OCs of the ethnicity (but be respectful)!

Maybe’s:

(These can be good, but be careful, and ensure you aren’t contributing to appropriation)

Learn how to style hair for the ethnicity!

Learn how to dress in a manner inspired by that ethnicity!

Learn how to speak in a manner inspired by that ethnicity!

Notes: For the most part, things like this will be fine! Learning an accent, dressing certain ways, etc are usually fine- just ensure that you’re culturally conscious! Understand the significance of such things, and ensure you’re not making a mockery of the culture. Keep an open mind if anyone tells you to do things differently.

Don’t’s:

Try to pass as a member of the ethnicity

Speak over members of the ethnicity

Try to change your skin color
