As soon as Dean comes to terms with his sexuality and comes out, he immediately weaponizes it. Sam is complaining about him passionately making out with Cas in the kitchen? “That’s not very supportive of my first, serious gay relationship, Sam, I am in a very vulnerable state right now”. A ghost is flinging Dean across the room? “It must be homophobic”. Sam forgot to get the pie? “This is a hatecrime!”
Everyone, even Cas, is extremely annoyed. But unfortunately, as soon as anyone tries to bring up that no Dean, a woman at the store didn’t snag the last carton of cereal because she hates gay people, Dean only doubles down on calling them all horrible allies.
(Dean absolutely knows what he’s doing. He thinks it’s hilarious).
Alright, specifics: how long did it take Dean and Cas to not only figure things out but figure out how to make any of it work? I feel like Dean was put in a corner and had to let out his feelings like a damn pressure value or Break Incase of Emergency type deal.
And after that, first kisses. I’ve gotta know.
Alright, strap in.
Keep in mind, this is just what I have for these three topics (which I kinda blended two together), there is so much more rattling around up here, so if you're willing to wait a while - (late January-ish), send in some more things you like to hear about! - this goes for anyone else interested too!
Now, onto the good stuff.
Dean Winchester x Fem!Reader x Castiel

Okay, so we know these two are hardcore into denial. Feelings? What feelings?
The long and short of it is, it takes them a while.
But let's start with you.
No matter how long it takes you to fall for them, you know when you do. You know you're hopelessly in love with them. It's stupid, being in love with a man and an Angel who could never love you back, but you are. You think Dean sees you as family and you honestly have no idea how Cas feels about you. Sometimes, he looks at you like you're the world, and you feel like you are in those moments. Sometimes, he can't stand being in the same room as you, and it crushes you.
It doesn't help your situation that Dean and Cas are so so so clearly in love with each other.
After a pretty short amount of time with them, you see it. Hell, you see it before Sam does. You see the way they look at each other, the stolen glances and lingering touches. You're not blind. Kind of. While you're so busy seeing the way they look at each other, you don't see the way they look at you.
Then there's more confusion and crushing feelings. Dean thinks Cas is in love with you and you're in love with him and he hates himself for wishing you both loved him.
Cas thinks you and Dean are in love with each other - due to his angelic confusion, it takes him a little longer to piece together that puzzle - and it doesn't surprise him. You are the two most wonderful humans he's ever met and it only makes sense that you'd love each other. He gets confused for a long time as to why his vessel seems to be malfunctioning whenever he's around either of you. His palms are sweaty and his heart beats abnormally fast. He becomes very aware of breathing since it starts to be a bit difficult, a stark contrast to before, when he didn't breathe at all. After researching his symptoms, he comes to the conclusion that he is either in love, or has some kind of ancient disease. He doesn't know which one he'd prefer.
It takes YEARS and a near-death experience for you three to finally come out with it and blurt out your feelings when you're not thinking. Dean and Cas were up against it, this year's big bad had them by the throat. The only way they could get out of this alive, was if you didn't. You knew what you had to do. It all clicked in a second and you weren't even upset. You'd do anything for them, you knew you'd die for them one day, why not today?
Dean was barely able to pull you out and get you to Cas, who with diminished Grace, couldn't fully heal you. He healed you just enough for you to live and after a few cuts, scrapes and broken bones of their own, they both got you back in the Impala and to the bunker. They waited by your bed for you to wake up, Cas never let go of your hand for a second, healing you as much as he could the moment he felt any Grace resurface. Dean paced back and forth by your door, muttering angrily.
"Shoulda been faster"
"I shoud've done more"
"Why didn't I do more?"
They both let out heavy breaths when your eyes flickered open. You looked up at Cas, seeing the concerned look on his face. Your voice was thick and groggy when you spoke.
"What's wrong, Angel? You okay?"
He surged forward, crashing his lips against yours. It was messy, desperate, soul deep and perfect. He pulled back just far enough to rest his forehead against yours.
"I'm glad you're alive"
"So am I" You said through a smile, the tips of your fingers grazing lightly over the stubble on his cheek.
Dean froze. He stared at the two of you for a moment, feeling a hand dig through his chest, wrap around his heart and squeeze it 'til it burst. He reached for the doornob behind him, desperate to leave before the tears he's been holding in fall for a completely separate reason.
You heard the door click and you looked over. Maybe it was the blade that just ripped through you, but for the first time, you finally saw what was really in his eyes. You had a sense of clarity, or at this point maybe delusion, and the words fell from your mouth before your brain knew what you were saying.
"I love you too"
No one spoke for a solid minute. Though it felt like hours. You sat up, taking Cas' hand in yours as you looked between the two of them.
"I love you both. I know it's selfish and stupid and I'm sorry, but I can't help it"
Dean didn't say anything, he just crossed the room in long strides, bringing his hand up under your jaw to pull you into a kiss. Not just a kiss. It was much more than a kiss, it was him telling you that he loved you without saying a single word.
He pulled back, glassy eyes boring into yours. Silently, his hand found Cas', fingers curling gently around the Angel's. With a glance his way, Cas knew that was Dean's way of saying he loved him too.
It took much longer for Dean and Cas to kiss. Thanks to one Mr John Winchester, Dean felt like he wasn't allowed to love Cas. You and Cas assured Dean that he was, that loving Cas didn't make him any less of a man, but it was still hard for him.
He'd look at Cas with stars in his eyes, but he couldn't kiss him.
Cas didn't push either, he knew Dean would be ready eventually, he just had to wait. And ignore the way each day he waited, another hole ripped through his heart.
It was, so simple when it finally did happen. That's the way Dean was able to do it, he had to stop himself from worrying, trying to make it just right, trying to make himself actually do it.
You and Cas were sat at the kitchen table, going through newspapers and your laptop, looking for a case. Dean walked in, got a cup of coffee and leaned down, pressing a kiss to your lips. The same way he greeted you every morning. Only this time, he walked over to Cas and did the same.
Even after Dean pulled away, after he walked down the hall to get dressed, Cas didn't move. He was frozen exactly where Dean left him.
You sipped on your coffee and smirked "Good kisser, isn't he?"
"Yes"
You'd never heard Cas' voice so high.
Now for actually making it "work", that's a whole 'nother story.
At first, you just enjoyed being with them, being happy. All three of you ignored the imminent question, "How does this work?", but you had to answer it eventually.
Cas had zero worries. He's an Angel, loving anyone is unheard of but at the same time, traditional relationships don't hold any value with him. If he loves two people, why is it seen as strange to be with two people?
Dean on the other hand, he had many different thoughts at the same time. How the hell do you have a relationship with two people? Do we go on alternating dates? What if they like each other more than me? Will they just ask me to leave?
Poor baby is very insecure initially. Then, there's the other side of things.
Holy fuck, I get two people.
He kind of can't believe it, he doesn't just have one person for the rest of his life, he has two. Two!
He walks around with the dumbest grin for ages.
You and Cas damn near swoon.
But back to the logistics. One night, you sit down and hash it out. Simple as that.
Only it's not really simple.
It takes a while, but eventually, you get there.
You make sure you all know that two of you can spend time together and it doesn't mean you want to leave the other out, which puts Dean's mind at rest.
One, very, very important thing has to be; shotgun.
Neither of you get it.
It's not like you can have it and Cas can't, or Cas suddenly becomes passenger princess while you're exiled to the backseat. No, Sam maintains his shotgun privileges.
You and Cas always sit in the back together, even when Sam isn't in the car. Besides, a big bonus has to be that you get to cuddle up in the back while Dean drives, glancing back at you two through the rearview mirror and smiling, wide and bright.
In the middle of the night Cas gets woken up by frantic massages from Dean, asking him to go outside ASAP and that Dean needs help now, so Cas literally falls out of his bed, on full panic mode runs out of the house, only to find Dean wrestling with a bunch of chickens in the Impala, trying to get them into the cage.
Dean tells him he's gonna let them out at school tomorrow as a prank and to stop staying there doing nothing Cas come help me already. Cas looks at the sky, asks every deity he knows why this idiot of all people, then sighs and helps with chickens.
When they're done, he would look at those chickens for a moment and then say,
Cas: you should put numbers on them.
Dean: what? why?
Cas: like- put the 1, 2 and 4 at each one, then let go.
Dean: *a second of processing* you're a freaking genius.
Dean gets Jack into video game music to help him focus, and Cas applies the principle too and blasts gospel music while trying to figure out their taxes.

He could count every second they had spent together, every time when Dean winced behind his back at some old pain, every time some random person on the street said that “Deans son was so kind”, every time Dean apologized for getting so old. And every time Cas would wind his arms around his neck and kiss him, kiss his graying hair, the wrinkles around his eyes from smiling, and would always save the lips for last.
Or Dean is old and Cas can tell that Dean won’t be here much longer
This is a little fic I made. It’s Supernatural related so other moots feel free to ignore.
Obsessed with the idea that even though Cas can't feel the cold they have to go somewhere cold for a case and Dean's putting a woollen hat on him, tugging gloves on one by one and winding a soft scarf around his neck.
Bundling him up. because Dean takes care of the people he loves.
Dean says it's just so that he doesn't stick out not wearing any cold weather gear around humans. and Cas accepts this lie as a fact and nods solemnly even as Dean is making sure the hat covers his ears properly
Sam wants to strangle them both with their scarves for being oblivious idiots but suffers in silence
