Le train de la Vie

On nous a pressés de monter dans le train de la vie, destination : se constituer en couple, fonder une famille, trouver une bonne situation (on ne sait pas trop dans quel ordre), acquérir une maison, et tant d’autres choses. Cela prend du temps alors on se bouscule à l’embarquement. Puis un jour, on en a terminé, enfin pour l’essentiel. Le train semble arrivé. Mais où au juste ? Que faire…

That post got me in the swimming mindset (and also it kinda interested me so I like reading other reblogs and comments on it) so here’s some more stuff about swimming where I’m from.

Lessons, for the schools I know properly at least, stop when you stop them in year 6. Highschool doesn’t have them, but we still do have annual swimming carnivals. There’s still an air of competition and everything and apart from the noise it’s kinda fun!!!

Straying away from the topic of lessons and carnivals, some high schools will have ‘beach day’ or ‘surf-awareness’ day for sometimes every grade (at different times though) and sometimes just certain grades every year. Sometimes the terms are interchangeable, and sometimes ‘beach day’ is specific to a leisurely day at the beach where students get to swim and play in the sand, while ‘surf-awareness day’ can be about water safety and general beach safety (and then also different ways of surfing and of course we then get to surf and/or board and swim) (and an added point that beach safety and even sun safety is drilled into us in primary school). These days are usually really fun (and yes the public is still there, they are even during lessons) even if you don’t swim, and yeah I just thought I’d share info about that because it’s great to do.
