Guys guess who’s watching Crime 101 with their entire family and some friends?????
I’m soo cooked it was nice knowing you guys 😀
Detective Lou hasn't much reason to know about Buck and Taylor since it's not like he and Buck interact much (or ever? I think?).
So current headcanon, Athena has been complaining to Lou about it and that's how he knows about the 'firefighter boyfriend' to make that comment about sources.
Maybe even Bobby too, could see Athena and Bobby bringing homemade soup etc once Lou was home and able to slowly start eating again.
Four days??? Four fucking days?? None of this man's coworkers or family or friends realized this man was gone for 4 days!?!? Hows?!?!
Spoiler free Crime 101 Incorrect quotes by me! Part 1/2
[SPOILERS for the ending of Crime 101]
I love love love the ending of the movie.
The last we see of Davis is him making the decision to not leave LA but return to it and Maya. "Return home to yourself". And that's it. We don't see him again. His ending is shown through Maya because she is his home.
The scenes are intercut between him doing something toward her and Lou. Giving Lou his most valued possession for saving his life. Giving it away as a true fresh start like he'd said earlier that he'd start over again.
Maya had repeatedly pointed out that he didn't have any photographs of his past and family. So he does the ultimate gesture toward her to give her the only photograph he had of his dark past, and apologizes. If she decided to not return to him, his last piece of himself would have been gone. But he took that leap.
The novella's ending felt like the author didn't understand his own story. Lou's endgame could never be becoming the most popular cop in the town or whatever. It's unrealistic and childish because no one even believed the 101 bandit existed in the first place. He was robbing while causing the least harm. He wasn't a nuisance. So catching this 101 bandit would be nothing more than one or a few solved cases (that were already solved) in Lou's already underwhelming tally.
But most importantly, it's not what Lou needed. Lou's story was never about finding acceptance in society. It was about finding peace. He was obsessively chasing this 101 robber because that's the only thing he had in his life. His wife insulted him, his workplace insulted him. Solving this case wouldn't immediately get him the respect of these people - Lou knew that. It would just make him happy that he accomplished something.
The movie gets it right. Lou does all the wrong/illegal things to please the system - lets Davis go, threatens the rich guy to keep quiet about Davis, keeps the diamonds for himself, frames the wrong guy as the 101 robber. And he's happy to do it all.
It changes nothing about his reputation. But it changes everything for him.
The system is so corrupt that you can't accomplish anything by being a good guy. Look what the system did to Davis. All you can do is what makes you happy. Lou was just happy to be right about the 101 bandit. And with the new car gifted to him (for doing the illegal thing), he starts finding himself again. He's beaming with happiness as he drives.
As for Davis - he loved LA. The issue with his ending in the novella wasn't that he had to leave the beach and the ocean for a lonely life in the middle of nowhere. He was lonely in LA too. It was that it was presented as a happy ending that at least he is alive.
Again the movie gets it right. He gets to start afresh in the city he loves, where his heart belongs.
Davis Jame from Crime 101 as Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil joke edit made by me! Enjoy! 💚
