Loser - Beck
Two more versions of the piece under the cut-
OUUUUUGH I LOVE HIM MY BEAUTIFUL TORTURED MAN OF A THOUSAND TRAGEDIES THAT ENJOYS CAUSING CHAOS
^^^ the last piece being my absolute favorite of all three-
Devanii deals and has dealt with many things in his life. And sometimes he prefers getting drunk in his nightclub to relax and forget about the waiting tragedies on Earth's doorstep. The last thing he expects is his 'lover' to show up in his office one night with a request. Devanii does not appreciate this request.
Angst. Lots of sad lore. Cursing, lovers to enemies but still lovers, love being intertwined with war. Trauma. Lots of trauma mentioned.
The Dimonique was a safe place for dragons, magic users, and normal humans alike. Supposed to be, anyway. The huge, futuristic downtown building in Tokyo was extravagant and large for a nightclub, with multiple bars in multiple themed and neon lit rooms. The suites it had on topmost floors were lavish and designed for comfort. The staff were decent, it was ensured the guests, at least the human ones, were safe, and the liquor and food were always stocked. It was Devanii's pride and joy, the one place in the universe he could retreat to and allow himself a night of peace to wallow.
His office and penthouse, located on the top floor, were where he hid away when he wasn't being pulled away to deal with Outbreaks or hunt down ancient artifacts to fight the Hive. Or deal with the Citadel.
This thought made Devanii scowl as he drank his beverage, the burning liquor soothing him as a distraction from his tempered thoughts as he reclined back in his office chair. His long finned tail flicked from side to side, scratching over the black carpet as it slid across it. If his old caretakers saw him now, they'd have an aneurysm. He could hear them now, even after thousands of years.
'No claws on the table!'
'Sit up straight! How unbecoming for an Heir!'
'Such shameful behavior! Your Bane and Bormah would be appalled!'
A grunt escaped the violet dragon as he squeezed his eyes shut, blocking out the old manners that were beaten into his head as a whelp and focusing on the steady thrum of music beating through the building. Electronic music, dubstep, Nightcore, sometimes. That was rare, and only because Connie would beg him to play it when she visited -He wondered where the human kid was now. Probably at home or in school- Currently a more relaxing electronic beat was playing, making him hum. Soothing, slow, tickled the brain right.
He eased more into his buzz as he listened, humming along as he relaxed. However, his relaxation was interrupted by his radio on his desk, one of his bouncers tuning in and asking almost hesitantly: "Eh, boss?"
Devanii rolled his eyes hard, moving his head with it as he pulled his feet off the desk and scooted closer, prepared for some new nonsense as he pressed a button and asked politely, if not impatiently, "Yes, what is it?"
"There's a guy here who wants to speak to you. He isn't very happy."
The dragon narrowed his eyes, curling his lip as he made an agitated gesture, despite knowing the bouncer couldn't see it, "A guy. What does that mean, a guy? Just some guy? What, they expect to see me, despite me being the owner of-"
The radio clicked for a moment, the sound of a struggle causing Devanii's ears to flick in surprise as he leaned back, his eyebrows knitting together as his eyes widened. Then his ears dropped as he gulped, hearing a familiar voice seethe through the radio feedback: "Devanii Hellfrost, let me up, or I swear to The Eight I am going to force my way up. And it is going to be very bloody."
Fuck, shit, balls and cock.
Devanii blinked and smiled nervously, forcing his tone to a cheerier one as he attempted to hide his nerves, "Sybil! Love! How unexpected! Why didn't you call? I would have made an appointment-"
"I literally do not have the time for your shit right now, Hellfrost. Let me up."
The dragon's expression fell as he made a sound between a groan and a sigh, managing through a voice crack as he massaged his temple, "Yeah. Yeah, come on up."
Shit.
What in Akatosh's name was Sybil doing so far from the Citadel? That was all the way in the Andromida...
Devanii groaned as he poured himself another drink. Rather, he refilled the glass and thought better of it, pushing it back to the other end where he knew Sybil could reach before taking a swig out of the bottle itself.
He stood, glancing around his dark office to make sure it was at least neat. It was dim, the only light illuminating it being the neon violet and light blue lights he had hand-picked to reflect his color scheme. The walls were black, the carpet was black and thankfully clean as usual, his black desk doubled as a high end computer system, and the huge window behind him made for a lovely Tokyo backdrop. He sighed, examining the dark leather couch one side and the built in bar in the other, deeming both acceptable before the elevator dinged.
Forcing a charming grin onto his face, Devanii casually leaned on his desk, cranking his smolder expression onto the highest setting as he greeted, "'Ello again, Sybil. How can I-"
He shut himself up seeing the doors open to reveal the High Elf standing in with his arms crossed and a pissed expression on his face. Then again, when didn't High Elves look pissed. The elf strode forward, and it took all of the dragon's willpower not to retreat at his approach.
Sybil stopped at the desk and put his arms at his sides, clenching his fists as he glared daggers at Devanii. The larger male took the opportunity to give a quick look over of the elf's appearance, if only to ensure he didn't massacre any staff on the lower floors.
Same black light armor, same emblem and sleek design, no blood, thank the Eight. Sybil looked as he usually did, his long blonde hair pushed back as usual and meticulously neat. He had the same light gold skin, and those gorgeous green eyes that still managed to make Devanii's heart skip a beat despite the murderous glare-
"... If you're done staring at me, we need to talk."
And there it was. Devanii's soul promptly left his body for a split second before returning, the dragon asking curiously despite the sudden tightness in his chest, "Of course, darling. What happened? I doubt you stopped by from Andromida for a simple visit."
Devanii hated how true that actually was. For a moment, an uncomfortable expression passed over Sybil's glowering features. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, making Devanii internally sigh. Okay, yeah, so something was definitely wrong if Sybil was visibly nervous. Great.
"... It's the Hive. Xin."
The tight feeling grew stronger, Devanii's tail now nervously twitching as he asked tensely, "Yeees? What about them?"
Taking a deep breath, Sybil took the filled glass of whiskey and took a drink -Devanii stomped down the smug feeling of 'Called it'-, and began with a much more hesitant and nervous tone than his confident scathing one, "... The... Counsel has come to a decision. They're willing to remove your bounty if you renounce your old title and return to our ranks and fight for us again."
Silence filled the office. Devanii stared at Sybil for a good long moment. Renounce his old title? Did he mean the title Devanii had held onto with both wings and claws through thousands of years with all his might? The only thing he had left of Esteria and Nirn? His, their homeworlds? His blood status, his birthright?
"... You want me," Devanii started slowly, in a dangerously soft tone, "To renounce my position as King of Dragons. So I can keep the people, who outlawed me and hunted me down for thousands of years, safe from the creatures and deity that had tortured me in Oblivion. For thousands of years. Not to mention the fact your fleet has been trying and failing to harvest this solar system's sun the last year and a half."
At least Sybil had the decency to look ashamed. He stared down in shame, his ears drooping as he sighed and began, "Devanii-"
"Get out."
Saying the words felt like tearing out his own heart. He loved Sybil more than life itself. He was his everything, one of his very purposes for existence. But this was not the night. Not with Devanii half-buzzed and already irritated from protecting Earth. From the Citadel. From Xin. From the Hive. From Sybil himself. Not tonight. Not ever.
The High Elf sighed and took the glass to take another gulp, nearly draining it before he set it down and sat in the chair beside him. He laced his fingers together and rested his head on them, leaning on the desk looking like he was carrying the weight of the world. So to speak, he technically was.
Devanii wanted to be angry. He really did. How fucking dare he?
No, how fucking dare the Citadel?
They knew Devanii would never hurt Sybil. If it had been any other commander, they would have already be a burnt ice statue that Devanii would have been preparing to send back to the Counsel as a 'Fuck you' gift.
But not Sybil. Gods, please, anyone but Sybil.
Devanii sighed and collapsed back in his own chair, leaning back to glare at the ceiling. Fucking perfect. Great.
The dragon made a pained sound, covering his face as he increased the volume, drawing out a long angry groan before he growled, whined rather, "Why do you do this to me, Sybil? Why? Why can never be a simple fucking visit with you?"
Sybil pulled back to slam his fist against the table, snarling with tears in his eyes, "You don't think I hate this as well!? How horrible I feel about asking this of you!? You know I can't-"
"But you could." Devanii calmly refuted, lowering his hands slowly as he sighed. His voice didn't reflect his rage, his disappointment, his sorrow. "You could and you know it."
Sybil glowered at the violet dragon, growling out through grit teeth, "But the Emperor-"
"Fuck your Emperor." Devanii interrupted, annoyed and tired, "Fuck your Counsel. Fuck your Citadel. Fuck that fucked up society that harvests suns and turns them into batteries because that damn mega system isn't self sufficient. I said I was done with it. So I'm done."
They glared at each other for a long moment, neither backing down. Then Sybil dropped his head, sighing in defeat, "... Well, I tried. Told them it was a waste of time."
The elf looked up to see the dragon staring at him disappointed, his expression one of pure contempt as he smoothly acknowledged, "Good to know you at least knew I would never agree."
"Of course." Sybil responded, sitting up a bit more, "I know you."
Sighing, Devanii pinched the bridge of his nose. Then he agreed, "Yes. Yes, you do know me."
Gods, what happened to us?
The thought twisted Devanii's insides up in knots. Because he knew the answer.
Their homeworlds were overrun by Xin and the Hive before either of them could fulfill their roles. The Citadel picked Sybil up while Devanii was literally dragged to Hell. Sybil rose through the ranks and became the Emperor's favorite. When Devanii escaped Oblivion, he had been vouched for by the elf. And the dragon had been too ecstatic seeing his lover alive after years of uncertainty and suffering, going along with system wide blackouts until the initial relief wore off. Then he defected. And Sybil did not. He knew what happened.
Sybil had a taste of uncontested power after losing the one purpose he had been born for, fighting for. And Devanii...
Well, he went and made his own purpose.
He growled, covering his face again as they sat in silence.
Another long sigh broke the suffocating quite as Devanii managed quietly, "I take it you're leaving soon?"
"My ship is lingering in the atmosphere," Sybil answered in a soft voice, "They're waiting, but we're in no rush. Doubt they're going to be looking forward to going back without you on board..."
Yeah, the Citadel was definitely going to be pissed Devanii refused them again...
Frowning, he nodded, taking the bottle on the desk and refilling Sybil's glass. The high elf didn't say anything else, nodding in thanks as he sipped the burning liquid, Devanii taking a drink himself as they sat together.
Then, quietly, "... You and your crew are... Welcome to stay. For as long as you need before you're called back."
Sybil glanced up in surprise. But nodded again, already less tense. Not relaxed, but definitely not on edge anymore. Tired, Devanii acknowledged with a pain in his chest. Tch. Fucking sadistic Emperor and his brainwashing bullshit...
Devanii watched Sybil stand, groaning softly as he did as he decided, "I'm... Going to let the fleet know. Let them decide to come down on their own."
The dragon nodded, watching his mate leave with a growing emptiness in his chest. Every time, it was the same. And he hated it.
But Sybil stopped at the elevator, his hand hovering over the button before he turned and shot a look over his shoulder. Devanii knew that look. It didn't mean he wasted any time standing immediately and rounding the desk to close the distance. He could see the relief in Sybil's posture, felt it as he embraced him up and held him close, his tail curling around him protectively. Despite everything, Devanii still loved this fool. Had for thousands of years. Would until the eventual heat death of the universe.
This will end, eventually, he silently promised. Eventually, they could simply be again without any expectations, any obstacles or threats.
He had to believe that.
He did believe it. Wanted to.
Letting Sybil pull away to cradle his face and pull him down for a desperate kiss, Devanii closed his eyes, and promised countless promises. Vengeance for them, for Sybil, for their worlds, for the lost.
For the moment, all that mattered was the night and the man in his arms.
“I cannot believe you. Bastard. That was stupid. Even for you.”
The dragon simply ducked his head, his eyes closed and a remorseful smile on his face as the Altmer scolded him once more. Sybil didn’t look up from his task, continuing to bandage Devanii’s arm with narrowed green eyes and a sneering frown on his face. Their camp was quiet and out of the way, thank Anui-El. At worst, a pack of wolves would be a cause of concern, but nothing else.
The young high elf had witnessed many things in his life and travels through Skyrim and the Summerset Isles. None had quite taken the sweetroll like Devanii distracting a giant so Sybil could retrieve an item they needed from a chest in its camp. The idiot could have just flown about in his draconic form. Or shot arrows from afar and confused the goliath.
But no. Something possessed Devanii to hoist his obsidian greataxe and charge the damn thing. Sybil could only watch in mute disbelief from his hiding place as the dragon’s mortal form was batted away in a spectacular manner, the giant quickly following to ensure the dragon’s defeat. While it was the giant who fell in the end, the dragon was left beyond battered and bruised, violet hair a mussed mess and tan skin yellowed and blued…
“Apologies, dii sil. I simply wished to ensure you wouldn’t be noticed.” The larger man rumbled, not sounding sorry at all.
Sybil snorted at that, his eyes flicking up as his ears pulled back and he harshly tugged the bandage closer, “Well, good job. I wasn’t noticed. But you did alert every wild beast and bandit within the mountain range we were there with that scream.”
“It was not a scream,” Devanii denied with visible wounded pride. Straightening up with a sniff as vibrant blue eyes trailed over their armor in the corner of their camp, the dragon finished, “It was a yell.”
“Mmh hm. Very shrill yell.” Sybil mocked as he finished bandaging Devanii’s arm. Sighing as he stood up, the high elf examined his battered dragon with well hidden concern. Tan skin was definitely welted and blackened...
Despite himself, Sybil reached down to rub a thumb under one of those blackened blue eyes, watching Devanii flinch with a discontented hiss as his pupils slitted. But they softened quickly after, the dragon smirking as he leaned into the Altmer’s hand, “At ease, Lokaal. I heal fast. I’ll live yet.”
Green eyes narrowed as Sybil resisted the urge to lightly smack the dragon upside the head, instead opting to pinch a stubbled cheek with a hissed, “You better. I don’t care if you’re ‘immortal’. Do something that reckless again, I’ll smack you across a clearing. Am I clear?”
Devanii huffed in amusement as he reached up to gently grab the high elf’s hand, smoothing it back to cradle his cheek, “Crystal, dii hil.”
Sybil would have been content with that. But the claws that gently grasped his hand held him in place as the dragon turned his head and lavished a lingering kiss to the Altmer’s leather gloved palm.
A shot of heat lit up Sybil’s face as his ears dropped, those vibrant blue eyes locked on his green ones with clear promise and a thousand unspoken things.
With a sharp inhale, Sybil muttered again, “Bastard…” … but eased his hand out of Devanii’s instead of tearing it away, nervously clearing his throat as he turned to tend to camp, “Rest. You’re of no use to me dead on your feet.”
The Altmer tried to ignore the chuckle that rumbled from behind him, busying himself with going through their inventory and written out ‘errands’. Good news, Sybil thought humorlessly as he marked one off, we got the scroll from the giant’s camp…
It was probably half an hour that passed before Sybil looked back to his draconic companion. The violet beast was curled up on his side close to the fire with a number of furs and cloaks gathered around him. Perhaps an attempt to nest…
Silently getting up, Sybil cautiously walked over to the dragon’s side, watching him with an almost soft look on his face as he crossed his arms. The high elf gently pulled one of the warm furs higher, covering a shoulder as the beast rumbled once and fell into a deeper sleep. When Devanii didn’t stir from his slumber, Sybil kneeled down to gently brush a violet lock of wild, fluffy hair away before gently pressing a kiss on the corner of his dragon’s mouth.
Sybil didn’t see the loving smile form on the dragon’s face as he moved away to his own bedroll, unaware of the dragon relaxing as a thumb gently moved to linger on where the kiss warmed his soul.
A little late, but the oc poll winner is here! Again, Watcher is difficult for me to write. She is... not a fully good person.
“Wow. You are completely unbothered, aren’t you?”
The masked being sprawled across the couch simply lifted her head and hummed pleasantly, the eyeholes in her red mask empty and inky. A sign she was in a neutral mood.
Rin simply scowled as he set his pulse rifle aside, beginning to shed his armor as he began to descend the steps into the ‘living’ area of the station’s common room. He took in the woman’s usual impeccable appearance. Black vest, red button up with the sleeves rolled up, black pants with those ridiculous robotic heels.
A snarl curled his lip before he took off one of his pauldrons and threw it at the lounging creature. Before it hit her, she caught it, her mouthless mask unchanging as she stared at the human approaching her.
“… You’re upset.” She observed with a curious tone, her short boyish hair shifting slightly as she tilted her head.
“Yeah, I’m upset.” Rin growled as he leaned over the back of the couch, “I just spent hours fighting against a swarm of Hive to contain an outbreak, and you’re here napping!”
“I wish,” Watcher denied in a light tone as her gaze drifted away, facing the wall as she muttered offhandedly, “I don’t need to nap, unfortunately. I miss sleeping.”
Her attention was dragged back to Rin when the man grabbed the front of her shirt and nearly hauled her over the couch to face him.
“You are an omnipotent, indestructible monster that can teleport, survive the vacuum of space, and destroy cities with a snap of your fingers, but you can’t get off your ass long enough to help fight!?” Rin nearly screamed, glaring down at the being with undisguised hatred, “I thought you were here to help humanity!?”
For a moment, Watcher didn’t say anything. Then she slowly, with more strength than Rin was comfortable acknowledging, uncurled his fingers from her shirt with an unbothered air, “I am. Unfortunately, there are rules.”
Rin scoffed as he shoved her back onto the couch, walking over to the nearby kitchen to seethe and eat something, “Right, right. The ‘rules’ you’re supposedly bound to. Like what, not going down to Earth yourself to fight?“
“I’m not allowed on Earth because it’s a neutral zone for magic of all types.” She reminded him in an annoyed tone, her mask eyes shifting to narrow slightly at the older man, “If I go down there, I’m bound by laws already put in place by older beings. I’d be at an extreme disadvantage, even with neutral magic.”
“Yeah right.” Rin growled as he tore open a cupboard, grabbing a bowl as he continued, “I've seen your ‘neutral ground’ magic. It's bullshit! You tore apart an armada-”
“In space.” Watcher clarified in an aggravated tone, “I tore apart an armada in space. I'm not allowed to do that on earth-”
“Why!?” Rin snapped, throwing the bowl against the counter hard enough to crack it. He turned back to her and braced himself on the kitchen island counter as he demanded, “Why aren't you ‘allowed’!? Do you have any idea how quickly you could end this outbreak!?”
“I do.” Watcher curtly snapped. Rin had to stop himself seeing her eyes begin to glow that sickly yellow color again. Pinpricks of light that gave off an eerie unsettling feeling. Fish eyes… or something Rin would see in those uncanny valley memes. She continued as she stood up and walked around the couch, “I've done this before, remember? I already know.”
Rin hesitated, sensing one wrong step could set her off. Lowly, he repeated, “Why?”
Watcher stared at him for a moment, and Rin was prepared to be torn to bits. Then she sighed and reached into one of her pockets, pulling out a faded photo and setting it on the counter.
He had seen her look at it before battles. From rumors and speculations, people assumed it was of her human life. Her family, or maybe even friends. Rin was not prepared to see the oddest assortment of people in the photo. Most of them looked to be adults. A robot in one corner, a middle aged man beside a younger male with multicolored hair wearing a mask. And in the center-
“Holy shit…” Rin whispered as his eyes widened, his throat closing up at the sight of the adolescent smiling in the picture, “Is that Hellfrost?”
Hellfrost. A legend among the stars and foreign empires. A man, or dragon to be more precise, wanted by the Citadel. And the only thing currently keeping humans from going extinct. A one man army who could not die and fought to end outbreaks across the universe. Rin’s group’s mentor.
The violet dragon looked… happy in this picture. No older than a sixteen year old, though the Hellfrost Rin knew appeared at least twenty-eight. And next to him… a girl no more than twelve in an oversized black hoodie with a big grin on her face, crushed in the young dragon's embrace.
Rin's stomach sank when he realized what he was looking at.
“... You knew him. That's why you two are fighting. Something happened-”
“I reset so he could have a real fighting chance.” Watcher informed him in an even tone, though regret and bitterness festered in her words, “We lost the first time, me and my group. Zxin tore them apart, and made us watch. Earth was overrun with the Hive.”
Looking away, Watcher continued, “I didn't know what else to do at the time. I was scared, and he was losing. And I was right next to one of Zxin's Consoles. It gave me the option to reset the timeline and give us a second chance, and I took it.”
“-At the cost of your humanity…” Rin guessed with rising nausea, “That's why you can't go to Earth. That's why the Citadel calls you an Outlier. You erased yourself from the timeline as payment to turn back time.” A sacrifice.
“I did.” She confirmed in a sweet tone. Her eyes no longer glowed as she picked up the picture again, lost in thought, “They're far away from here now. I made sure they weren't picked again. Devanii, though… he may not remember, but he knows I did something. And he hates not knowing all the variables. He hopes to… battle it out of me.”
Shrugging, she put the picture away as Rin stared at her, the puzzle pieces falling into place in a gut-wrenching way.
“... You chose me and my group as a sacrifice. A replacement.”
“Yes.”
“To protect your group.”
“Yep.”
“And Devanii is pissed at you for that.” Rim guessed slowly as his lips curled back, “Because that's exactly what he doesn't want. People dying needlessly. And he knows we aren't his friends.”
Well, they were friends, but fuck, now Rin knew why Hellfrost would look so sad when he watched them train. They weren't his to lead into battle. They never were. And he knew that.
“Unfortunately, yes.” Watcher confirmed unapologetically. Clapping her hands together, she chirped, “The good news is that he trained you and your friends wonderfully! I know you’ll survive!”
“You bitch.” Rin whispered in horror as he watched Watcher stride away back to the couch. “That's why. You can't go to Earth without reattatching to it and losing your powers. And Hellfrost will kick your ass, but still-”
“That's why I stay here.” Watcher finished as she dropped back onto the couch. “I keep more Hive and the Citadel from coming to earth, and you and your group eradicate the invasion from the ground.”
A lump formed in Rin's throat as he bowed his head, taking a shaky breath before asking halting, “And your group? Where did you send them?”
Watcher didn’t respond, quiet and reluctant as she lounged. Rin bared his teeth as he pushed himself away from the counter and drew one of his pistols, pointing it at the couch with barely controlled rage and grief. But he couldn't pull that trigger. He couldn’t. Because against his will, all he could see was a scared little girl watching her world end and the only family she possibly knew die in gruesome, unimaginable ways. And lo and behold, she found a solution at the cost of ever being with them again. And one of them wanting her dead. The only one she could freely interact with…
“Oh my god…” Rin whispered as he lowered the gun, his hand trembling. “Oh my god...”
They were a sacrifice. For her people. Watcher grew up in Oblivion for who knew how long knowing the future, and changing it as she saw fit. An entire universal tapestry, resown and remade to her idea of what safety and victory looked like.
No wonder an immortal like Hellfrost was pissed… how much had changed in his past? How much torture remained the same? Did Watcher even interact with him when he was locked in Oblivion? Did she even attempt to relieve any of the torture he went through growing up?
“You…”
The ship intercom beeped a pleasant jingle as Rin fought to urge to puke, causing Watcher to glance up in surprise.
“Welcome back: Agent Jessie - Agent Ace - Captain Hellfrost. Number of current occupants on the ship - Four.”
“That's my cue to leave.” Watcher grunted as she stretched. Glancing back at Rin, she supplied, “I would suggest checking your maps. I marked down some Hive nests to take care of. Ta-Ta!”
And she was gone in a flicker of static. Leaving Rin shaking in the small open kitchen with information he couldn't even share without revealing Watcher kept visiting the ship under his watch. Devanii wouldn't even be mad. Just... disappointed.
Hearing the heavy footfalls of his mentor down the hall and his group chattering cheerily, Rin decided to just blame his nerves on the battle…
I love Devanii so much. And you’d think because, of course. That’s my oc. Of course I love him.
But no. The real reason is because of the fact I made him a weird little freak. And you’d think then, well of course. Who doesn’t love their little weird freak oc?
Devanii Hellfrost is a dragon. Not just any dragon. The last of his kind. The prince of all dragons within his father’s planet. Not just any prince. An immortal prince. Not just any immortal. An immortal forced to watch his homeworld essentially get eaten by a mad god and undead monsters, leaving him the last survivor. On top of an entire tragic backstory spanning his species’ and mother’s past and what it was like for him maturing.
And despite everything, despite the horrors and trials he endures, he’s still a little goofball who’d stop mid battle, like, “Wait, wait, wait, timeout, I gotta- I said wait, my earth friend is calling- hello?”
Devanii Hellfrost lives on Earth with his own nightclub and underground society, but willingly abides with Human Laws.
He’s an all powerful dragon prince, but yeah, he’ll hold the door open for this person, it’d be rude not to. He’s a heavy drinker who loves his patrons dearly and keeps a safe clubbing environment for his humans. He plays matchmaker if he catches wind people have feelings for the other, and is careful with boundeies. He’s everyone’s cool uncle and protective older brother, and on rare occasions, supportive dad. He’s gay and has a high elf boyfriend he travels space for every weekend. He loves human media and knows all the old vines by heart, and considers it as enjoyable as the ancient knowledge he’s seen throughout the ages. He’s busted monster head and asses to keep humans safe and beat the mad god who tormented him for millennia to protect Earth. He listens to Darude- Sandstorm and Just Dance by Lady Gaga one moment and then plays ‘divorced dad rock’ the next. He has a tumblr and posts memes from 2014 and back for fun.
Devanii Hellfrost is an immortal entity who found earth and humans as a tired teen, and initially went, “Huh. Little weirdos.” Before eventually growing alongside them and went, “Ah yes. My little weirdos.”
And when Devanii eventually aged to a full fledged adult, he decided, “This species helped raise me. This is where I belong, on this weird little planet with these weird little people. And you know what? I’m weird too. And I like that.”
Devanii loves humanity, because in the end, Humanity was the thing that saved him from an eternity of loneliness and bitterness, and gave him a chance at peace and love.
Chris Fleming is a fantastic voice actor, and I love how he voices Cesare from Bigtop Burger-
Cesare has that unhinged nature about him and a pretty casual sounding voice when he isn’t screaming every five seconds- I’ve decided it fits Devanii’s personality and how I want him to sound well enough…
Voice lines that fit him the most under read more:
“Oh, you wanna roughhouse, huh? Oh you wanna take some sucker shots at my banana cage..? You wanna take some sucker shots at my banana cage BILBO?? Well let’s TANGO.”
“Hyah! FIRE!”
“… I knew you were going to do this the moment I got out of bed today. Typical Steve, I’m not surprised.”
*very far off in the distance with an explosion* “oh my GOD-”
“Hey boss, have you been to one of these before?”
“No, I’m a virgin around here. But I’m sure my reputation precedes me however…”
“Ooh, yeah, they definitely know me-”
“COOL. I DON’T EAT FOOD.”
“Oh- Oh Yeah- Oh, good idea-” *smashes head through window*
“If you guys, don’t look as weird as me, then I am going to STICK OUT. Like a HORSESHOE CRAB. In a FRESHWATER ENVIRONMENT.”
“Are you TRYING to blow my cover?”
*very tired and annoyed exhale*
*absolutely done* “Oh? You wanna roughhouse huh? Okay… Oh you wanna take POTSHOTS at my ripe big underbelly Bilbo? … OOOH.”
“Oh, well, you would pull some bullshit like this, wouldn’t you Steve? … Well you wou- Oh typical. Well you would pull some bullshit like this. … Oh you Would. Oh you Would pull some bull- Oh you WOULD pull some bullshit like this you Slippery Toad. Oh, you would pull some horse ass like this-”
