Throwback to that which is still one of my favorite photos :) Awesome pic by @creed_photography of my Fem Nero cosplay! DMC4 was the first game in the series I played, so I’ve had a long term soft spot for Nero. I’d love to see @capcomunity continue on with his story. Ill hopefully finish my DmC Fem Vergil soon too!! Atsumu has always been prone to change. 

Things that remain static for too long have little place in his life -- too frantic, something he burns through like lightning flash, leaving nothing in his wake but a trail of smoke.The only consistancies he would accept were the everlasting presence of his family (of his brother, especially) and his passion for volleyball. Everything else was only ever meant to be temporary, a stepping stone towards something greater, towards ever more soaring heights. Atsumu has always been prone to change, and he doesn’t need memories or anything else that might tie him down and stop him from flying.

One would then probably be allowed to wonder what on earth he might be doing with someone like Sakusa Kiyoomi - a model of persistence, of consistence, a creature of habits and routines they stubborly refuse to deviate from. But that’s the trick, you see... you never know when people are going to surprise you next. And Sakusa Kiyoomi, as Atsumu has found it (is still finding out), is full of surprises. 

The words tumble from their lips and into the crook of Atsumu’s neck (is that a flush that Atsumu can feel radiating from their cheeks?). So, perhaps they are both a little drunk; perhaps being a little drunk had made them collapse on the bed without their ever agreeing to spend the night together; and perhaps being a little drunk is giving Kiyoomi ideas Atsumu doesn’t remember them ever formulating before. Not like this, not that he can recall. 

Kiyoomi isn’t prone to change, but Atsumu is. Kiyoomi isn’t prone to change, but decides to break character anyway. Atsumu is prone to change and inconsistency - but with surprise changes, Kiyoomi secures him a little further in their grip. 

Aren’t they both full of paradoxes. 

Atsumu swallows back a gasp and remembers he is a man of challenges. He is a creature of change -- ad there is nothing he excels more at than trying new things. Cheeks flushed red, he chases after his partner’s lips, imposes some distance with a kiss; just enough to force them both to sit back so he can straighten up and take Kiyoomi’s hands in his. “Y’know you don’t need t’ask so politely.” This is change. This is new. Change and new are Atsumu’s territory. Who needs memories and habits when there’s no time like the present? And because it’s Atsumu’s territory they’re treading on --

He shall try his best to guide them there. Slowly, but decisively, he guides Kiyoomi’s hands at the hem of his shirt; encourages them to push beneath the barrier of fabric - to venture, to explore along the fluttering muscles and skin, until hand rests upon bare chest (so they can tell, just how hard exactly his heart is beating under there - for them). “Whatever you wanna try is fine by me.”

They need only say the words, or spare a touch - And he’ll follow with both eyes closed.

“Sooo, Tooru-kun.” Atsumu materialises behind them and slides onto the barstool next to theirs; his second beer of the evening in hand, not tipsy enough to make bad decisions, but just enough to let his curiosity loose. Beginnings had been rocky between him and Argentina’s setter (thanks, Kuroo-kun), but over time? They had found that they had more in common than first meets the eye (unless everyone in the room except them had realised it immediately). “Hajime-kun’s awfully uncooperative, so I’m countin’ on ya to quench my curiosity. Where’d the nickname ‘Iwa-chan’ come from?”

There are scenes in life Atsumu doesn’t really expect to see. Kita-san letting loose at a karaoke is one of them. Aran-kun leaving volleyball to play golf is another. Samu going on a hunger strike would be a third. And Atsumu had never really considered what he would probably never get to see Kiyoomi do, but if he had to venture a guess now, in retrospect? 

Yeah, seeing Sakusa Kiyoomi, clean freak extraordinaire, approach a stray animal of his own volition, would probably be near the top of the list. 

It had started with a faint sound in the distance; hey, Omi-kun, didn’t you hear somethin’? Naturally, Kiyoomi’s first reaction had been to frown and say that no, they hadn’t heard anything, and that Atsumu must have been daydreaming, or tired. Not an outlandish assumption after a long day of practice, that culminated in the two of them deciding to walk home rather than take the bus. At the peak of summer, taking a stroll down the refreshing currents of the river as the sun dipped down and painted the skies crimson on the horizon felt like a much more enjoyable option than trapping themselves into a driving tin can. 

Some might even call it romantic. Ha. 

Ha, is exactly the face Atsumu makes when he persists in his investigation, and finds, hauled up behind a bench, a meowing little furball. Ha? Is exactly the face Atsumu makes, when Kiyoomi (more or less reluctantly) joins him, contemplates the poor kitten (drenched in water and shaking - had it fallen into the river and miraculously climbed back up?), and kneels down next to it.

... well, that’s new.  That’s new, because animals aren’t the cleanest to begin with. Strays? Definitely not the cleanest. And yet, Atsumu scrutinises and scrutinises and his attention has left the kitten to focus entirely on this brand new side of Kiyoomi he had apparently never suspected, and decides that this is a very interesting little wonder. 

“We should probably get ‘im to the vet, right?” Atsumu finally offers, helpfully, for once. And, because two miracles never happen without a third: he pulls a towel from his bag and hands it to his (favourite) hitter, with the smile of someone who has just seen something really interesting, and are going to talk about it for days on end. 

“There. Be easier t’carry than with yer bare hands, and I’m pretty sure not even you would carry gloves in this weather.”
