♛ BIOGRAPHY
↳ family lineage.
Born in 482 AC, Robin is the 4th born Arryn child and the youngest son of the house. As a child, Robin was always very curious about the Eyrie, about the history of House Arryn, about the Vale as a whole. As soon as he could he sought to explore every inch of the castle, and read every book he could get his hands on. It was these early years he spent studying the Vale, the Eyrie and House Arryn that he formed his opinions on the superiority of House Arryn in regards to the other Great Houses of Westeros. He saw House Arryn as the most stable, and the noblest. Whenever the other Great House brought chaos, House Arryn restored order. It was a notion that he very much looked up to, and it made Robin question why House Arryn wasn’t ruling the Seven Kingdoms, or at least not King of the Mountain and the Vale again.
In addition to being well-read on the history of House Arryn, and the Vale at large Robin gained an interest in reading books and asking their Maester growing up about architecture across Westeros, and what was considered beautiful by the vast masses. This helped shape his vision that the Eyrie was the most beautiful castle in Westeros and not Highgarden. It also turned Robin into an aesthete. The Arryn Prince often caring very deeply about what he wore and looked like and the conditions in which he kept his room. Along with this new appreciation for aesthetics, Robin also took up the hobby of writing poetry and painting the landscape scenes that he was able to see from the various balconies of the Eyrie and hilltops of the Vale.
Growing up though, Robin did face the challenge of his limited physical abilities. While he was capable of riding a horse and fairly decent with a sword, in most cases he was unable to win sparring matches, and rarely ever being able to hit the target during archery practice. It was because of this inability, and knowledge that he could not fight that lead Robin into different avenues to make sure he would have a place within the Arryn Court. Sitting with their maester for long hours, he did everything he could to acquire political knowledge. He studied the relations between each of the Houses within the Vale, their specialities and what they contributed to the Arryns. Robin also studied the other Great Houses and their major resources, their relations with their own vassals, which houses would be the most likely to possibly support an Arryn monarchy. When his father would Robin now enjoyed being able to offer sound advice and in doing so hoped that it would bring him more favour with his father than his older brother held.
Robin was lucky enough to enjoy a happy relationship with both his father and mother. He and his father largely share the same views on the Vale, and House Arryn and their role within Westeros, and Robin is prideful of the fact that he feels he helped influence his father’s decision to break from the Iron Throne, and declare themselves separate sovereign state that would control their own destiny.
Growing up with his siblings, Robin always enjoyed a healthy and happy relationship with his sisters, older and younger. Robin especially enjoyed a good relationship with his older sister, Rosa because of the fact that there was only a two year age difference between them. Growing up he didn’t allow his sister’s disability to shape his view of her and instead sought to get around it by learning how to communicate with her nonverbally. Unlike their father, he didn’t see her as an embarrassment or as a shame to House Arryn but rather as a sign of their ability to overcome struggles in practical ways. A rationale that he also believed supported his belief in House Arryn’s superiority and why they should be leading the Realm.
In terms of how he gets along with his two other sisters, Robin enjoys a healthy relationship with his oldest sister, and then with his younger sister, Robin has always tried to remain a model figure to look up to. He has sought to instil in her the same beliefs that he holds about House Arryn, and the outlook on wanting to see House Arryn rule above or separate from the other Great Houses of Westeros. He cares deeply about both of them and is incredibly willing to do whatever it will take to protect, and care for his three sisters. Finally, with his older brother, Robin has always felt that a tension exists between them. Robin believes he is the one who should have been born the elder of the two, and that he is more prepared to be first the Lord of House Arryn, but now King of the Mountain and Vale.
Now as their father lies on his deathbed, Robin is trying to find ways to make sure he secures the Falcon Crown. While he is seeking to do this in a nonviolent way, depending on how his brother engages with the Iron Throne and the other Kings and Queens of Westeros he will be prepared to secure alliances with Houses of the Vale, and within the guard of the Eyrie to use force to displace his brother as their future King to make sure that, in Robin’s eyes, House Arryn’s interests are actually being met, and are not going to be surrendered back over to some other King to decide.
↳ personality.
Robin has been accused of being manipulative, scheming, power hungry, and a snake. He would not deny any of those things. He may seem to be up tight, and always seem to be serious, but that is because he is. Robin does not try to pretend he is something he is not, while he may hide how far he is willing to go to achieve his desires, he will almost make it abundantly clear what he wants. Though that is not to say he does not have a soft side, also being deeply intellectual and in touch with his creative side, Robin finds great joy in art, and in beauty, and he does care deeply for his family, especially his sisters. He is willing to do whatever it will take to protect them, and the name of House Arryn. To his deepest core though, Robin’s loyalty and deepest love is for House Arryn, and for the Vale. He is willing to put both life and limb on the line for the Kingdom of the Vale, and will do everything in his power to make sure it remains it’s own sovereign kingdom.
↳ the splitting of the kingdoms.
Robin is in Sunspear to help his brother where he can in negotiating the best deal with the other kingdoms in regards for the Vale of the Arryn. Robin is an incredibly staunch Arryn loyalist and believes his house is the superior house of Westeros. While he believes that the Vale should just cut itself off from the rest of Westeros and rely on either their own production or trade with the Free Cities, Robin is willing to accept that for the time being they will have to work with the other kingdoms, however in no way does he recognize the sovereignty of the Iron Throne over the Vale. Before the summit, the younger Arryn Prince had never been to Dorne. He is not at all excited to be there as the climate is so different from that of the Eyrie.
