A discussion on
Indradev/ Devraj Indra.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
(This is based on research and familiarity, and what I think he represents)
Devraj Indra a.k.a the king of the Gods, is also the lord of the Senses (Indriyas) and thoughts.
(Hari is Hrishikesh 'lord of Senses', making him the lord of Indra.
He's always depicted as arrogant, and full of pride at times. Afterwsrds he would realize and admit his mistake, then apologise to Bhagwan/Bhagwati.
This symbolises the mind of humans and our senses. Our way of thinking. We would feel arrogant at times. We would say, "this happened because of us". We would even feel like we're better than others. Then after facing a certain consequence, we realize that we were wrong. We apologize to Prabhu and promise to not make the mistake again. That is Indra.
It's so amazing how the Divine act like humans, just to teach us valuable things.
》 the fear of loosing the throne.
Devraj is always seen thinking that something or someone will become so strong and powerful, that they'll take his Singhasan (throne). So because of that fear, he as well as other devas would try to stop the Tapasya of Rakshasas, Rishis, or anyone who is doing strong tapasya in order to get a boon. However this contributes to the devotee's pariksha.
He's worried, because if he looses his throne, everything will be imbalanced. The panchabhootas would be out of control.
(The Rishi and the Rakshas/Asur (as mentioned) the Rishi doesn't desire to be on a royal throne. And the Rakshas/Asur is a form of adharm. And Dharma must prevail, in order to have balance)
Because of this, he protects his throne dutifully, for the sake of Jagat Kalyan.
Hence this represents the mind and soul.
If we dutifully protect our mind and soul, then how would something (like a thought, some type of negativity) come in to corrupt it. We're made up uf the Panchabootas and the 5 senses. We host thoughts in our minds, as well as emotions. Yet we must protect our seat (asana) which in the Soul, guided by Bhagwan/Bhagwati.
》The Apsaras.
He loves Nritya and Geet, as it's a divine gift of Mata Saraswati. The Apsara is always a form celestial feminine, as well as the Gandharvas were celestial males. Both talented in their skills and celestial appearance. The Devtao however respects them, because they're always in the mode of Sattwa (goodness, purity and godliness)
This, and their Somraas, symbomise the pleasures and fun of life. Everything comes into being, due to talent. And not an extraordinary talent. But something simple.
Talent as in being able to do something.
(We get food because people have a talent for cooking, we got entertainment because people have a talent for entertaining, we get jewelry because people have talent for making them, etc)
We find fun in nature because that's Prakriti, an extention of Maa Shakti. And who else represents Maa Shakti? Women. Hence the Apsaras.
Hope you enjoy this.
