one detail about mike and dexter’s relationship that I never see discussed is how that even when it’s painfully obvious that dexter has done something to upset mike, it’s in mike’s nature to not immediately place the blame on him.

Okay originally I was going to do a drawing for this request, but the sketch was giving me unimaginable amounts of trouble. Genuinely like 2 hours just to get line art to colour, so I gave up lmao, so instead I’m doing you a mood board with some headcanons…A lot easier than busting my balls trying to draw somebody at the simplest angle ever apparently?
This was where I got up to, but I had to do so many digital alterations that the whole thing went up in flames. At least Mike looks cute. Dexter on the other hand…

-Have competitions like “who can dismantle and reassemble a pistol the quickest?” The winner gets a reward of their choosing. Sometimes it’s picking where they eat, what movie to watch, etc.
-They have a dog together, an ex military dog that didn’t quite make the cut. Mike relates to that a lot, and has long conversations with them about it. The dog, not Dexter. He talks to animals a lot.
-Dexter and Mike both hang onto each other’s dog tags when they aren’t on duty.
