So!! @emmettnet / @divine-gifts-official has a deities/gods AU he's been posting about! And he's actually drawn a few of my ocs as a part of it! Here and Here!
And I wanted to also add my boy Dayzel into the AU! So this is him as a living Ice sculpture carved by Nox, the God of Vanity to be a companion (That he may or may not have loosely modeled off of Rupert, the God of Wrath, and a "close friend" of his)... Only for Dayzel to eventually go "missing".
Edit: realized that I uploaded the wrong picture that didn't have the rose gold shirt collar/cuffs
Welcome to "Owl has yet another AU they want to share with you folks." Today's topic: The "DG" au. Don't worry, I'll explain what it stands for as we go.
To begin with: This will contain references to death, abduction, murder, alcoholism, all the usual stuff you'd expect with me going "Let's write something angsty!"
Also, this au is made in collaboration with Ace, aka @a-little-trans-magic. Please support him as much as you support me!
Anyways, time for the fun bit: Going into detail about stuff.
Brief plot summary:
Nine people wake up in a very strange situation with only vague memories of being abducted. They're told by a broadcast they were taken to join a death game (called "The Actor's Game"), they have approximately 12 hours to escape, and they have to work together to get out before the numbered bracelets they're wearing eventually drive them insane with psilirium exposure. They have to make their way through puzzles, trust exercises, and more, but things aren't as simple as they seem...
This au is heavily based on games like Zero Escape and Your Turn To Die, but there is influence from Danganronpa and other such stories as well. Under the cut, I'll get into the characters and some important little notes for the au.
[Please remember: I am not good at drawing characters with the same shapes as they have in-game. Therefore, multiple characters will look just... off as I try to work my style with the Psychonauts style. Most colors are picked from the characters.]
Notes:
The psilirium exposure makes their worst qualities more obvious. I do, in fact, have notes of what that means for everyone, but I'd like to keep that quiet.
There are escape room puzzles they have to go through in specific groups, as well as trust exercises. As time goes on, the psilirium breaks down their logic and trust, so it becomes harder.
If they make a mistake, a tally mark appears on the screen. When the tally amount reaches their number, they are poisoned and killed via the bracelet.
Yes, they are still psychics. The psilirium just makes it hard to use their powers. Some of them can still use them over time, but their control over their powers breaks down.
Hollis is the main character. This is a fact. She is the Very Main Character.
Main Characters
Number 0. Heath Maitasuna
[Image ID: A picture of Heath Maitasuna, winking. He's a man with light pink skin, a heart in his one open eye, and pink hair in a ponytail. He's wearing a surgical mask, a maroon turtleneck, and a lab coat.]
Heath is a 20-something-year-old gay man. He's not a main character for a few main reasons. For one: He dies immediately, making an example of what happens when your bracelet number reaches 0. As well, he's my own oc, and I feel bad when I make my ocs have too much plot significance when the story is focused mainly on the canon folks. Before his death, he was a nurse, and well-liked for his positive attitude and friendly demeanor.
Number 1. Otto Mentallis
[Image ID: A picture of Otto Mentallis, smirking with one hand up. He's got blonde hair sticking up, a blue shirt, dark blue pants, his usual amulet, a bracelet, and a white jacket with teal trim.]
Otto is about 35 or so, but he's not planning on slowing down anytime soon. An inventor by trade and a scientist by choice, Otto is quick to find the right answer. (At least, at first. The psilirium makes it harder as time goes on.) He comes off as brash, uncaring, and untrusting, but he does have a soft spot for his "partner" Ford (They won't ever elaborate on what kind of partner they mean, leaving it up in the air.) Though he's not too strong of a psychic, his mind and his attitude still leave him as someone to be reckoned with-- Especially if there's machinery he can use.
He's 1 because of his intellect, his low psychic ability leading to less psilirium poisoning, and overall aptitude for such a situation.
Number 2. Compton Boole
[Image ID: A picture of Compton Boole, looking very anxious. He's in a simple tan hat and a sweater with sleeves that match it. The sweater is argyle, with white and blue diamonds over his chest.]
Compton is around 33, and recently unemployed after an... incident he refuses to talk about. He tends to keep to himself if given the chance, but he's desperate to keep the peace in situations like this. He doesn't know any of the others in the group at first, but he quickly latches onto Cassie because she seems just as confused as him. His anxiety increases as time goes on, making it hard for him to focus, but he keeps hoping that they'll escape together. That might not be very likely, but he's going to try his best to help the others.
He's 2 because of his unwillingness to take the lead making it unlikely that he'll actually end up doing anything that would be considered as making a mistake.
Number 3. Hollis Forsythe
[Image ID: A picture of Hollis Forsythe, looking exhausted. She's wearing dark blue scrubs and a white belt.]
Hollis is about 23, and is going to be a nurse once she gets through her training. She's a hard worker, and plans far in advance. She's childhood friends with Truman, but she hasn't talked to him for a long time, so it's more of a distant thought on the back of her mind. She's rather stubborn, and has a habit of intruding in conversations accidentally, making her seem ruder than she really is. Over time, she gets more migraines, but she tries her best to push through the situation with the others. However, unlike the others, she doesn't seem to be psychic, which helps her to keep her wits mostly about her.
She's 3 because she has low psychic ability, making her almost immune to psilirium, as well as being rather intelligent.
Number 4. Bob Zanotto-Fullbear
[Image ID: A picture of young Bob Zanotto, looking lovestruck. He has a flower in his hair and much curlier hair than in canon. He's wearing a green long-sleeved shirt, overalls, and a bracelet labeled with the number 4.]
Bob is a 32-year-old guy who works as a gardener (and a guitarist in his free time.) He can be difficult to get close to, but he's secretly a massive softy with a good heart. He's been married to Helmut since he turned 30, and he's been sober since age 27, something he's incredibly proud of. He doesn't react well to stress or new people, but if he's got someone he trusts by his side (Like his husband or his nephew), he's sure he'll manage to get through, even though the psilirium messes with him a lot more than others, thanks to his innate psychic abilities.
He's 4 because he's unlikely to actually input answers to puzzles, and he much prefers to take a backseat to others.
Number 5. Helmut Fullbear-Zanotto
[Image ID: A picture of Helmut Fullbear with a ponytail. His expression is simple, and he has a beard as well as his usual look. He's wearing a green turtleneck, his usual hat, and a blue jacket with dark green trim.]
Helmut is around 33, and currently working as a musician doing small gigs with his husband. He adores Bob to the end of the earth, and would rather be anywhere other than here, but that doesn't mean he won't try to make the best of even the worst situations! The psilirium can't stop him from being there to help his husband and nephew. He loves to play music, and tends to hum when he's nervous.
He's 5 because his psychic abilities are middle-of-the-road, and he'd try to protect Bob and Truman at all costs if it was higher.
Number 6. Truman Zanotto
[Image ID: A picture of Truman Zanotto winking as he waves to the camera. He has more hair on his head and a short beard. As well, he's wearing young Bob's outfit-- A collared green plaid shirt and a pair of brown pants.]
Truman, age 22-ish, is a rather polite young man... most of the time. With the psilirium involved, though, he's a lot more disoriented, and prone to fainting spells. He seems to be suffering from some sort of amnesia, which Hollis assumes is post-traumatic amnesia, which can cause someone to act strangely as well as the missing memories. She's keeping a close eye on him because of this, making sure that it's all okay and that he's not suffering from some sort of severe brain injury. He's a big fan of trains and spy stories, and is most likely to end up writing another James Bond sort of novel when he's got the free time.
He's number 6 because the psilirium takes its effects on him rather early, making him act strangely. He doesn't seem to have his wits fully about him, and he tends to ask for help a lot from others.
Number 7. Lucrecia Mux
[Image ID: a picture of Lucrecia Mux, drawn in her canonical younger outfit. She's smiling, and seems to be watching something out of frame.]
Lucy, a 35-year-old career woman, has been taking care of her (very young) nephew for the past couple of months with her sister and her brother-in-law. She enjoys working with the circus, and has been taking a break from her usual job to do that with little Augie. She has his baby pictures with her, and she's very willing to show him off to others. Extremely, extremely willing. She's playful, and very acrobatic, even though the others don't expect it from her. However, the psilirium affects her heavily with her psychic prowess, making her irritable.
She's 7 because she's extremely powerful psychically and therefore quick to have bad effects from the psilirium.
Number 8. Cassie O'Pia
[Image ID: A picture of Cassie O'Pia when she's young. Her hair is tied up like it is when she's older, and she's wearing the same outfit as the Writer Cassie archetype. (All of her colors are pulled from there as well.)]
Cassie, a 36-year-old writer, is not very amused about being caught up in all of this, but that doesn't stop her from trying her best to help others and to keep people calm. She tends to be the brain cell of the group along with Hollis, and as the oldest of the group, it makes it a lot easier to get people to listen to her. She's got a lot of odd knowledge, but she's bright, she's willing to learn, and she's got a talent for multi-tasking.
She's 8 because she's basically the only way this group is going to survive long enough for the purpose of the game to be revealed.
Number 9. Ford Cruller
[Image ID: A picture of Ford. He's got one finger in the air and the other hand on his hip, and he's in a white button-up shirt, a green striped vest, and dark brown pants.]
Ford is the most mysterious one in the group, but he's really a pretty average guy. He's about 34, and refers to Otto as his "partner". He's quick to take the lead and offer to put his own life on the line, but he doesn't usually think through what he's doing. Ford tends to jump past logic and reason and go straight to the weirdest answers.
He's 9 because if he wasn't, this man would be dead eight times over by now. (/hj)
The villains will get their own post-- There are already a few of them, but they're going to need some special details first, so expect me to take some time before posting that. Also, it's very possible that the villains' post will have to wait until after some of the au is actually, y'know... Written.
However: Feel free to ask questions about it! I'll try my best to answer anything y'all ask me. ^_^
I love your DoppleGary idea! So he's basically just a corpse being controlled by Invictus right? Or does he sort of have his own thoughts mixed in with Invictus's thoughts?
With what I’d come with, yes!!! He’s from another timeline but except even with his willpower and determination he still I think survived in final space so invictus said body rights revoked and possessed him into a while nother being!! His emotions are totes gone but he’s gotta cover it up with a fake. And with the modern tech he’ll be able to cover up/slow down the rotting process.
His personality is cocky and arrogant and not like how our dear Gary would be. I’m taking the concept of the chosen one from S1 Ep:8 and then invictus deciding to kill off his own kind by himself. some type of a scary bounty hunter! He succeeds in a few hundred of timelines with the help of the corrupted titans and invictus’s powers! (even came with an idea of him getting more and more deformed into an invictus form as the longer it stays in him jdjf)
I have an AU where Garnet's a detective in the 1930s trying to figure out what happened to Pink Diamond with Zircon so Blue Diamond doesn't kill everyone and Pearl's lying about it and hi I like Gems in historical clothes
They have swordfights with butter (legend says that if you look very close, you'll see the remains a tired Zircon that I left out because I couldn't draw her or Pearl to scale)
