A dialectical dilemma in DBT is when there are two types of actions, attitudes, or interpretations (behaviors) that you can do in response to a situation that you're in, and DBT is about finding a way to do behavior that makes your life better, rather than simply going full bore freakout or non-verbal catatonic (or any other ineffective behavior in between)

What does that actually mean, in practical terms. Like with an example.

I remember trying to look it up and it was either exceedingly dry, purely self referential academic jargon, or it was weird conspiracy right-wingers renaming ‘false flag operation’ to, I guess, sound smarter and more cultured and their views more precedented.

Is it really as simple as I think it is? Or is there actually something there that warrants the obscure language?
