CTM AU Dialogue/Scene script: Citizen Plus Interrogation (glasses included version)
longer script here where at one point a few other scenes are supposed to go there for effect (and I'm pretty sure I'm misremembering the exact french words Lorraine uses in episode 3 if you ask her about Jennifer, but I wanted to include it in idea here anyways).
Writing it took me all day and I couldn't stop thinking about it otherwise. I also looked up the word lounge today, just to find out how to appropriately call that one thing, cause 3 different languages in your head and english being your second tend to mix that up.
Either way: enjoy
Edit: as implied above this is a version where I've made a small change near the end that would've otherwise bugged me forever. Same reason why I also reblogged this.
CONTEXT - Martin has been arrested by Griff Tannen like two scenes ago to spare Jennifer and KB and got knocked out by Griff. He has since been brought to the advanced Citizen Plus treatment facility, so Edna can interrogate and brainwash him. (The layout of it is basically meant to be similar to that of the game, but there is like 2016 level technology there).
INSIDE - CITIZEN PLUS TREATMENT FACILITY
Martin slowly regains his consciousness and finds that his arms and legs have been strapped to an uncomfortable treatment lounger meant for those receiving a direct Citizen Plus treatment. A feeding tube is going into his mouth down his throat, a strange helmet most likely meant to sent electromagnetic signals into his brain has been strapped onto his head. His glasses had been removed. A familiar figure sits next to Martin, one whose silhouette Martin recognizes too well. (A more unsettling version of Lorraine’s bedroom plays in the score, because Martin already knows that something is wrong.)
Martin: Mom? Mom is that you?
Lorraine: Relax, young Citizen. You've been unconscious for almost 3 hours. (Wipes his sweat with a wet rag off his forehead.) We've got everything under control now.
Martin: (not comforted at all) No. We don't. (Struggles against his restraints.) Jennifer. Where is Jennifer?!
Lorraine: Don't worry about her, Martin. We'll soon find her and give her the Citizen Plus program too.
Martin: (wide eyed) Citizen Plus?!
The light turns on revealing both the layout of the treatment hall and the state of Lorraine. Like George she has aged, but worse. Despite her Citizen Plus smile and demeanor, the past 30 years weren't too kind on her health. Her hair, back in 1986 already starting to grey with some streaks, is fully white now and her face fallen in from unaddressed stress and grief of the past 3 decades thanks to the program.
Martin: (unable to bring out a coherent word in shock and horror at her appearance for a moment until he settles on the following) What happened to you?!
Edna: Only the results of your actions, you hooligan.
Martin: Huh??
Edna (having most likely taken a rejuvenation treatment to explain why she is still alive) is looking down on Martin through the windows of the overseeing room. Her face and form are shrouded in shadows and she is speaking into a microphone, her creaky old voice coming out of the speakers in the hall.
Edna: You have no idea how much trouble you caused Hill Valley. Over 50 years of work and meticulous rule, all of that made obsolete within a moment thanks to your "experiment". Lorraine, would you be so kind to prep your son for his treatment?
Lorraine: Yes, your honor.
Lorraine puts tools/devices on Martin's face which force his eyes wide open.
Martin: (as this happens) Mrs. Brown, you're making a big mistake. I need to go back in time to -
Edna: Undo the last 30 years of my work too?! The only mistake I ever made was listening to my weak pathetic ex-husband when it came to dealing with you punks and delinquents! Just look at how audacious and violent the youth have become!
Martin: (is way more worried by the VR goggles in Lorraine's hands) W-what's that, mom?
Lorraine: (putting that onto him) Just something that will help us fix you.
Martin: (knowing damn well what "fixing" here means) But didn't you always tell me that is nothing that needs to be fixed?
Lorraine: (hesitating for a moment in confusion) Well, that's true, Matin, but - (blinks and looks around herself) Wait... where am I?
Edna: Lorraine! Concentrate!
Lorraine: (Snapping back to citizen plus) Right, your honor!
Lorraine steps away from the lounger.
Edna: Now young man. Where did you hide that dangerous time machine of yours?
(At this point here a few scenes of Jennifer and KB are supposed to take place and happen, where they figure out a plan, to give a sense of time having passed. What's important is that Jennifer has already made her way in, while KB organizes something on the outside.)
Jennifer is sneaking around in police uniform with the visor down, going from holding cell to holding cell, trying to find Martin. She stops as she hears the interrogation going on inside the center and lifts up her visor a bit to look in confusion at the sight there.
Edna: Now, now, young McFly. This is for everyone's best. Just tell us where that dangerous time machine is, so we can put an end to this nightmare you've caused us all.
Martin: (exhausted but also clearly bored) It's only a nightmare because you turned it into one.
Edna: (disappointed) To think that you were once such a promising example... those anarchistic hooligans must've twisted your head.
Martin: I'm pretty sure you did most of the work.
Lorraine: Martin, don't be so rude. You know how important the rules are.
Jennifer cannot believe what she's seeing. Martin standing up for himself? Against Edna? Either way, Jennifer has to find now a way to get him out of there and puts her visor down before looking for ways to get rid of the remaining guards here.
Martin: Mom... Didn't you once tell me that there is more to life than following rules? That you've hoped Jennifer would teach me a certain "joie de vivre"?
Jennifer: (stopping for a moment and taking a double take in Martin's direction) Huh??
Lorraine: (blinking and trying to think) I did that once, didn't I? But - (looks around in confusion again) What's going on? Martin, why are you-?
Edna: Lorraine! I didn't bring you here, so you could cuddle your hooligan of a son!
Lorraine: (snapping back into the Citizen Plus program) Right. I apologize your honor.
This gives Jennifer an idea. She goes into a more secluded corner and pulls out the smartphone KB gave her to text something. "HOW 2 break C+?"
A response comes in "U can't??"
Jennifer types again "What U do 2 Leech" she waits for a response "hacking". Jennifer stares in confusion.
A file follows with instructions and after a quick read Jennifer then starts to sneakily take the guards out one by one in the background.
Martin: (pensive) You know mom? I think I found some of that. Video games are pretty nice. And I also like that one Truman show movie.
Edna: Those punks truly corrupted your morals, didn't they? Just as I suspected. But we'll see about that in a few hours.
Martin: You just don't like them because they're different! From you!
Edna: (outraged) They are angry uncaring vandals, who want to see the collapse of society at its foundations!
Martin: (now getting frustrated himself at this lie) They're only angry because they care, while your rules don't!
Edna: Why you little-
At that exact moment Jennifer jumps into the center of the Citizen Plus treatment hall, right next to Martin's lounge.
Edna: What the- what's going on here?!
Martin: (oblivious because of the VR goggles) Huh??
Jennifer: I'm getting my nerd out of here, you old hag!
Martin: (half surprised half terrified for her) Jennifer?!
Jennifer quickly holds the smartphone to Lorraine's wrist where the watch is, and like how it did with KB a high pitched sound emits from it, before Lorraine shakes her head and breaks out of her programming temporarily. Edna screams for the guards to interfere, but the nearest ones have already been taken out. Jennifer is already removing the goggles and the tools forcing Martin's eyes open + that tube that's been force feeding him with terrible sludge. She puts on his nerdy glasses as well.
Martin: (can finally see her normally) Jennifer! You must get out of here!
Jennifer: Not without you, dork!
Lorraine: (looking around in confusion until she spots her son and gasps) Martin! What have they been doing to you??? (she starts to help Jennifer removing the restraints too)
Martin: (just glad to see his mother mentally normal again) Mom! (his arms are free enough to give her a tight hug and almost cries) You're you again!
Jennifer: (removing the last restraints on his legs) Not for long! We gotta get out of here.
With the brainwashing helmet still on, Martin tries to stand up and walk by himself. The interrogation and Citizen Plus treatment of the past few hours has however left him somewhat weakened, so Jennifer and Lorraine end up half dragging Martin out by the arms.
Lorraine: Jen, I'm so glad to see you get along with Martin again!
Jennifer: Less talking, more running!
As all three hurry their way out of there Edna makes a call on her phone.
Edna: Officer Tannen! I need you to go after those slackers!
(It ends off here and is supposed to lead to the Martin whacking Griff with a keyboard scene)
CTM AU Dialogue/scene script: Citizen Brown tries to talk down Martin
Little warning: it is loooong.
(Martin was just about to try and show off to Jennifer how the Time Machine destination board works, as he sees first Citizen Brown approach them)
INSIDE - THE DELOREAN
Martin: First Citizen Emmett Brown? What's he doing here?
Jennifer: (remembering the Tiffany debacle from this morning) Shit. Martin, we need to get outta here.
Martin: No, wait in here. Maybe I can talk this out with him.
He takes the Delorean's keys with him and opens the driver's door.
Jennifer: Martin, don't-
But the door has already closed. Martin is outside approaching First Citizen Brown.
OUTSIDE - POWER PLANT
Martin: Your honor! What are you doing out here at this hour?
Citizen Brown: I should be asking this you, young man.
Martin: (nervous) Me? I-I'm just doing a weather experiment. That's all.
Citizen Brown: (skeptic) "Just" a weather experiment, you say?
Martin: Yes! It's for a school project! To get that extra plus on the A.
INSIDE - THE DELOREAN
Jennifer: (uneasily watching the interaction outside) What are you doing, McFly? Just turn around and get inside.
OUTSIDE - POWER PLANT
Citizen Brown: I see… So, Martin Seamus McFly… What purpose does this illegally imported Delorean serve in your experiment?
Martin: (trying to play it clueless) Your honor?
Citizen Brown: Or the unauthorized alterations to Hill Valley's power grid? (He points to the industrial wire Martin had set up earlier that night) Surely not to get the necessary 1.21 Gigawatts of electrical power for your experiment, now is it?
Martin: (suspects but isn't sure) Sir?
Citizen Brown: To power this so called "Flux Capacitor" of yours.
Martin: You've found my blueprints?!
Citizen Brown: Found them, seen them, studied them.
Citizen Brown: As impressive as your ability to hide your illegal activities for the past six months has been, it still gets overshadowed by the sheer madness of believing that your time machine might actually work.
Martin: (both offended and crushed by these words) But it will work! I did the calculations! I double and triple checked them. I was just about to test it out and-
Citizen Brown: Shouldn't it then be the authorities job, to ensure its safety and test it out instead? Instead of risking disintegrating yourself in the process?
Martin: Your honor, you don't understand-
Citizen Brown: No, I don't. But I'm trying to.
Citizen Brown puts his hand fatherly on Martin's shoulder.
Citizen Brown: Help me understand, Martin. Please, allow me to help you.
INSIDE - THE DELOREAN
The police radio Jennifer keeps around with her receives a signal of the soon arriving Hill Valley Police force. She quickly climbs over to the driver's seat and starts to try and short circuit the Delorean's starter to get it running.
Jennifer: C'mon. C'mon.
The car doesn't start. Jennifer unknowingly ends up setting the destination time to May 14th 2016. She looks outside at Martin and Citizen Brown.
Jennifer: What have you gotten yourself into, McFly?
OUTSIDE - POWER PLANT
Martin wants so desperately to be able to just believe Citizen Brown's words.
Martin: Science is all I've got left.
Citizen Brown: That's not true! What about your Mom and Pops? Your mother is doing better now since her treatment, isn't she?
Martin: (Shrugs Brown's hand off his shoulder) She isn't the same anymore.
Citizen Brown: (tries to be encouraging) Isn't that a good thing?
Martin: No! It's like she isn't there anymore. Like she isn't herself anymore, but someone else.
Citizen Brown: (genuinely confused) What are you talking about? That's not what the Citizen Plus program is supposed to do.
Martin: Well, it did that to her! And dad - he's blaming himself for it! He keeps on saying something about, if he had only sent you in more evidence.
Citizen Brown: Evidence? Of what?!
Martin: The video tapes, your honor! You know? The ones my dad still keeps on sending you? Where most of the people in Hill Valley are unhappy?
INSIDE - THE DELOREAN
Jennifer spots the blue and red lights of the police force in the distance. She is still trying to jump start the Delorean without the keys.
Jennifer: What are you waiting for, dork? We're running out of time!
OUTSIDE - POWER PLANT
CITIZEN BROWN: (nodding along, now thinking that Martin is clearly having delusions) Ah, right. I remember those "video tapes". I think we have some kind of misunderstanding going on here.
Martin finally spots the red and blue lights in the distance too. A grim realization dawns on him.
Martin: (betrayed) You don't actually care, do you? You're not even here to listen.
Citizen Brown: Nonsense! I only have your best interest at he-
But whatever well meaning thing Citizen Brown wanted to say get's interrupted by the howling of police sirens. Citizen Brown immediately realizes that his wife must've sent them in AND the damage their presence may have just caused as Martin takes a step away from him.
Citizen Brown: Great Scott.
INSIDE - THE DELOREAN
The car jump starts at last.
Jennifer: Finally!
OUTSIDE - POWER PLANT
The Delorean illuminates both Martin and Citizen Brown as it rapidly approaches them both, before stopping right next to Martin. The Passenger's seat door opens.
Citizen Brown: (recognizing Jennifer from her file of potential Citizen Plus candidates) You?!
Jennifer: Get in, Dork! We're bolting!
Martin doesn't need to be told this twice and jumps inside the Delorean.
Citizen Brown: Wait! Stop this madness!
But the passenger's door has already been closed and Delorean is driving off. In desperation of trying to prevent this upcoming tragedy, Citizen Brown hurries towards the police cars, frantically pointing at the escaping vehicle.
Citizen Brown: Don't let them hit 88 miles OR the power line! The consequences could be catastrophic!
(A chase scene happens at the end of which Jennifer and Martin do end up making their time jump into the future.)
CTM AU Dialogue/Scene Script: Keyboard Warrior Martin
In case you are new to the Citizen's Time Machine AU: Here is the "Martin decks Griff with Keyboard" scene, which in itself is a follow up scene of this script here (sort of). Since I kind of have it solidly in my mind that this scene would've happened with only Martin, Jennifer and Griff there... Let's just say one more scene happened and I have no real concept of how to write it down yet (at another date in a full fanfic (proper script-form) with chapters on ao3 maybe).
Content warning: Griff actually attempts to kill Jennifer there.
Anyways: I think this will conclude (for now) all the scripts I can think about writing for the future section of the AU.
Enjoy.
CONTEXT - Jennifer just broke Martin out of the Citizen Plus Programm treatment facility. They had to leave Lorraine earlier behind with George, because her Citizen Plus programming started to take over again. Unbeknownst to both Martin and Jennifer, Griff has been able to follow them into the sewers thanks to Lorraine's Citizen Plus watch. Martin is still a bit wonky on his legs from his previous Citizen Plus interrogation (Jennifer took that brainwashing helmet off).
INSIDE - HILL VALLEY SEWER SYSTEM - ELECTRONIC TRASH CORRIDORS
Jennifer: (Still helping Martin walk by half carrying him) Are you sure we should've left them behind?
Martin: (unbothered) They're my parents, Jen. Worst case, they'll just fight.
Jennifer: (worried) Your dad doesn't look like he can take a punch.
Martin: What? No! They won't hurt each other! I think.
An extendable police bat gets thrown around the corner at them aiming for their heads. Jennifer barely manages to dodge and pull Martin down with her to avoid that. They both stumble and fall in the process. Jennifer tries to get up, but a hand pulls her up by the jacket. That hand belongs to Griff, who is holding Jennifer at eye level to him.
Griff: (furious) You're owing two hundred for the Pitbull, Girly, on top of the five hundred for the car!
Jennifer: (kind of hanging off the ground) Bite me!
Griff takes her up on the offer and throws Jennifer into a pile of discarded old electronics. Martin tries to get up from the ground by himself.
Martin: Leave her alone.
Griff: Shut up, delinquent!
Griff kicks Martin in the stomach and Martin collapses, writhing in pain. Jennifer climbs out of the pile of electronic trash, the police bat in her hand and she swings it after Griff.
Griff however catches Jennifer's wrist before the bat could make contact with his head, stopping its momentum. He tightens his grip and starts to twist it, causing Jennifer pain. She screams, breaking Martin out of his pain induced stupor and he looks up at Jennifer and Griff in horror.
Just as Griff threatens to break her wrist, he lets go and makes a grab for her neck, before slamming her against another wall of electronics. Griff starts to choke the life out of her.
Griff: (smiling with sinister glee) Beat it, girly, you've lost. You've got no past, no future - not even a single person to care about you.
As Griff says this, Martin listens and the boy's expression changes from fear for Jennifer to a rage Martin never has felt before in his life at Griff. While Griff laughs, Martin grabs a nearby keyboard and forces himself back up onto his feet. With every remaining bit of his strength Martin swings the keyboard at Griff, who himself has only a second to notice this before getting out by the full force of the keyboard against his jaw. He falls into the flowing sewage water, his head staying above it.
As Jennifer regains her own breath with a few coughs, Martin looks down at his hands in disbelief and the keyboard being held in them. He then lets out an euphoric nervous laugh at what he had just managed to accomplish, before he sees Jennifer and hurries over to her.
Martin: (worried) Jen! Are you alright?
He ends up almost falling over from his waning strength, but Jennifer catches him with a careful hug.
Jennifer: (shocked and seeing him with new eyes) I'm now.
Martin reciprocates the hug, tightening it for a moment. After a second Jennifer lets go.
Jennifer: Let's get you to the Delorean.
Holding Martin by the hand, she drags him behind her as they both make their way through the sewage system, back to where they've hidden the time machine.
Martin: (has the biggest smile about it, until he remembers how dire their situation still is) Right, we better hurry and install Mr. Fusion.
CTM AU Dialogue/Scene script: Finding George in 2016
They're going down into the sewers here.
CONTEXT - KB has agreed to bring Martin and Jennifer to George so they can also have a safe place to hide from the police in Hill Valley in 2016.
OUTSIDE - OPENING TO THE HILL VALLEY SEWAGE SYSTEM -NIGHTTIME
Martin and Jennifer look in disgust at the sewage flowing out of the opening, while KB pulls something out of their backpack.
Martin: Are you sure my dad is somewhere in here?
KB: Of course he is! Do you know how terrible the Internet and Phone reception is down there?
Jennifer: (holding her nose) Well, the reception for guests certainly is.
KB: Exactly!
KB manages to pull out a pair of yellow raincoats along with 2 LED flashlights and hands them to Jennifer and Martin.
KB: (Claps) Time to meet Georgie.(Grinning) Don't worry! The clowns have been well fed.
Martin and Jennifer exchange an uncertain glance.
INSIDE - HILL VALLEY SEWAGE SYSTEM - TUNNELS
Martin, KB and Jennifer carefully wade their way through the waste, while lighting their way ahead in the darkness.
KB: His hideout very deeply hidden, so it might take a while to get there.
Martin: KB? How do you know my dad anyways?
KB: He's my video editor.
Martin: No, I mean - How did you get to know him in the first place?
KB: (hesitates, the actual reason is more personal) You see, he still needed a technician. Someone to help him to set up a safe and untraceable access to the Internet. I happened to know a thing or two about it.
Jennifer: Couldn't he have just done that by himself?
KB: Not without becoming a Citizen Plus.
Martin and Jennifer shudder at that thought. The implications of that are clear. The trio approaches a corner with a soft light being emitted just behind it. They turn off their LED flashlights.
KB: We're there.
INSIDE - HILL VALLEY SEWAGE SYSTEM - GEORGE'S HIDEOUT
The trio enters a large cavernous area, where the floor seems to be a mix of both orderly industrial steel floor grids and a mess of cables going above and below it all, connected to electrical Equipment monitors hanging from the walls, illuminating the area instead of light bulbs. There are makeshift furniture, made out of trash and disposed off scratched parts. It's not much and it doesn't seem orderly, but is enough to make living here bearable, and the arrangement of the furniture is clearly divided by function and purpose. A basic cooking and eating area with provisions here, a sanitary corner with a portable shower and cleaning products there and a sleeping area with a patched up hammock and cushions within a short dead end tunnel.
KB: Mr. McFly, I'm back! I got you some refreshments. (Walks over to the eating area) It's mostly just Algea Cake and fill up Algea Shakes again. But I've snatched some Peanut-brittles and Cornflakes as well!
As KB says this, Martin and Jennifer make their way up some industrial stairs, which lead to an area above the one they've just entered. A singular large monitor illuminates the area, at the center of it sits the silhouette of an old thin man, George McFly. He's analyzing the video file KB has given him last night, zooming in and enhancing at every frame that shows the Delorean. Trying to catch a glimpse of the faces of who is sitting inside. Jennifer is in awe at the size and quality of the video in front of her, as well as the amount of the editing Equipment George has in front of himself alone. Martin meanwhile stares at George and wants to speak up, but shame keeps him from breaking the silence. KB rushes the stairs up after Martin and Jennifer.
KB: By the way, I got you some visitors.
George: Not now, KB. (is so focused he doesn't even turn around to take a look) How often do I have to tell you to not bring people down here?
KB: I know, but-
George: I know you mean well, however, I'm not getting any younger packing and moving everything around again. I can't just keep on-
Martin: Dad?
George stops whatever he was doing and slowly turns in his chair towards Martin. He looks like as if he's seeing ghost. Martin interprets this as the worst possible case and can't even bare to look at his father. It's his fault after all that George is down here all by himself.
Martin: I-I know you're probably upset with me. A-and disappointed. You've got every right to be-
But before Martin can say another word, George stands up and wordlessly pulls his long lost son into a tight hug. Shocked Martin stands still. Not sure what to do next he looks at Jennifer and KB for help before awkwardly returning his father's hug. George starts to sob. There are no words able to express the magnitude of this moment for George.
George: (whisper) You're home.
Jennifer watches the whole interaction with a sense of guilt, yet a small pang of jealousy. (Her meeting with her Citizen Plus father didn't go as well.)
CTM AU Dialogue/scene script: The fake gun standoff
have some long form dialogue and scene script going on here. This one is about the cb!timeline duo meeting the og duo. Enjoy.
Set-up is following. Marty had just met Martin at the courtyard in Hill Valley 1931 the night Kid Tannen was supposed to get arrested and taken Martin with him inside the cheap motel Doc hides out at. Jennifer happened to see them both go inside the motel after having found a good hiding space for the cb!timeline Delorean (same as the one Doc actually used, just a different parking spot at the other end of it) and follows after them inside.
INSIDE - MOTEL ROOM
Doc just finished getting used to the room as Marty enters it as well.
Doc: Marty! So soon already?
Marty: I think we might have problem, Doc?
Marty pulls Martin with him into the room to show Doc. Martin freezes at the sight of Doc.
Doc: Great Scott! What are YOU doing here?
Martin: Your honor?!
Doc: Marty, you know you can't just go back in time and risk meeting your past self like this!
Martin: My past self?? (looking at Marty) Your honor, I'm pretty sure I'd remember wearing a fake mustache like that.
Marty: Why do you keep calling Doc that?
Martin: Doc?? (looks at Doc) You mean HIM?!
Marty: Who else?
Martin: Wait, if you are ME why are YOU working with First Citizen Brown anyways?
Marty: Huh???
Doc: "First Citizen" Brown?? Marty, what year did you depart from?
Martin: 1986 of course! And your honor, it's Martin for your information.
Marty: I'm pretty sure my name is still Marty.
Doc: Marty and Martin...
Doc realizes that something other than a regular time jump altering the past is going on, but before he can voice that, Jennifer enters the room as well.
Jennifer: Martin? Are you alright in there?
Jennifer freezes on the spot as she sees Doc in the room.
Jennifer: What are YOU doing here, Brown?!
Doc: I'm sure it's just a little misunderstanding going on here.
Jennifer: Misunderstanding?! Misunderstand this, creep!
Jennifer pulls out the painted over Wii motion control guns from her coat and points them both at Doc, hoping to bluff her way through this.
Marty: Woah!
Jennifer: Let go of Martin now, or I'll shoot, Brown!
Martin: (playing along) I'd just listen to her.
Marty pulls out the golden Don Valenti lighter gun and points it at Jennifer's head, hoping to bluff his way through it.
Marty: You better let these fall or I'll- (recognizes her) Jennifer?!
Jennifer: How do you know my name?! (points one of the wii guns at Marty)
Marty: But you're so- you're so- different?!
Jennifer: Wait, why do YOU look like Martin? (looks back at Doc) Did you just clone him, Brown?!
Marty: Clone me?
Martin: No, me!
Marty: Wait, Jennifer, what are YOU doing here anyways?
Jennifer: Is this some kind of psycho game you're playing with me here?
Doc had by this point enough time to take a closer look at the "guns" in Jennifer's hands and recognizes them as the Wii motion controller guns from the early 21st century, Jules and Verne have in their collection.
Doc: Marty, lower the gun.
Marty: (conflicted but still unwilling) But Doc! She might kill you!
Doc: Better me than you. Besides: A simple lighter won't do much against the advanced weapons of the 21st century.
Jennifer: A lighter?
Reluctant Marty removes the fake gun from Jennifer's head and reveals its true function to her, before putting it down entirely.
Jennifer: (smiling) So you've just been bluffing the entire time. Cute.
Doc: Shoot me.
Marty, Martin & Jennifer: What?!
Doc: (smiling) That's what you're here for after all. Aren't you, Jennifer?
Jennifer: (pointing both fake guns at Doc) Well - I might. If you don't let Martin go.
Doc: Why bother with the middle man, if you can just get rid of me?
The fake guns Jennifer's hand start to shake.
Doc: That is unless you can't of course. Because these are painted over video game controllers and not actual guns, aren't they?
Martin and Jennifer look at Doc in disbelief, as Marty looks in shock at Jennifer and the two fake guns in her hand.
Jennifer: ...damn it.
She lowers them put and puts them back into her coat.
Doc: Now that we've got this behind us... I don't think it would be too far off to assume, that you two are from a different Hill Valley 1986 than we are?
Jennifer: (still mistrusting) What makes you think so? And why should we believe YOU?
Doc: For starters, you're here without my alternate counterpart. So your circumstances must've been different enough from ours to prompt you to steal the time machine from him to get here.
Martin: Steal?! No, we came here in a time machine that I invented! You in fact tried to stop me from testing it!
Marty: Wait a sec. YOU invented a time machine where you come from?! And not Doc?
Martin: Well, it still took me six months.
Doc: (too fascinated by that difference to care) How did you get the idea for the Flux Capacitor, Martin?
Martin: (Is also too intrigued to not answer) You see... I tried to hang up a clock-
Doc: But you slipped and it fell on your head?
Martin: (nodding along in recognition) Yes, exactly! I then got a vision. An idea. The Flux capacitor.
Doc: Fascinating.
Martin and Doc start to get into a deeper conversation, trying to theorize how they came to be and meet together in the first place the way they all just did. Marty and Jennifer look at each other awkwardly.
Marty: (whispering) What the hell is going on?
Jennifer: (shrugging) I guess my nerd just found another nerd to talk to.
It's long again. Mostly just recreating the classic walking into a cafe/saloon/80s nostalgia cafe, etc. in Hill valley scene, up until a certain point where my brain started to stop on it.
(After having have had gone through the shocking experience of walking through cb!Hill Valley's Courtyard of 2016, Martin and Jennifer make their way into the internet cafe, a place that used to be where Leech worked at in 1986)
INSIDE - INTERNET CAFE COUNTER
Martin walks inside the café and promptly stops. He can't help but stare at all the laptops and screened devices everyone inside the café is holding and working with. Jennifer just behind him tries to spot if there any of the suspiciously absent surveillance cameras around. A grown up and eerily cheery Leech appears at the counter and spots Martin and Jennifer.
Leech: Hello visitors. It appears you're out of uniform.
Jennifer: (surprised whisper) Leech?
Leech: (still eerily cheery and doesn't seem to recognize her) Poloshirts are reserved for Wednesdays. Today is Turtleneck Saturday.
Martin and Jennifer look around themselves in the cafe and sees that indeed everyone except for them is wearing black Turtleneck sweatshirts. Martin at once feels the urgent desire to fit in.
Martin: Do you have any spare ones, we could use?
Leech: There are some in the back. You can both change there. One after another!
Martin already hurries to the back. Jennifer stays behind for a moment, silently hoping that her boyfriend from 1986 would to just give any hints of recognizing her before following after Martin.
INSIDE - CHANGING STALLS IN THE BACK OF THE INTERNET CAFE
Martin has already changed into a turtleneck and is waiting outside the stalls for Jennifer to change.
Jennifer: Just what’s the matter with him?! It's like I'm a total stranger to him!
Martin: Well, he last saw you 30 years ago.
Jennifer: So?
Martin: (shudders in memory of his own mother) It looks like he got the Citizen Plus treatment since.
Jennifer: Oh, please! As if Leech would sign himself up for something like that.
Martin: (glancing uneasily back at Leech at the counter) Maybe he broke too many rules.
Jennifer comes out of the stall and hits Martin in the arm for that last comment.
INSIDE - INTERNET CAFE COUNTER
A very tired and sweaty KB enters the cafe. They've cleaned their Face up since the previous night, but there are still some leftover red and black paint near their ears.
Leech: Hello, citizen. How can I help you today?
KB: Just the usual.
Leech pulls out a laptop from behind the counter and starts to prepare a cup of gluten free insta noodles in the background. Martin and Jennifer come out from the back and end up sitting down next to KB, while ordering some snacks from the menu.
Jennifer: (sees description on the cup) Really? They've banned gluten now too?
KB: (side eying) It’s been a while like that, visitor.
Leech: (proudly) All products containing gluten or traces of gluten have been disposed off last month, to preemptively prevent cross contamination.
KB: (sarcastic) How considerate. (Opens up the laptop)
Leech: I must remind you to abstain from using VPNs and to only use the cafe's provided services and password.
KB: (still sarcastic) Why thank you! I almost would've just done so by accident! Which reminds me...
As Leech hands KB their noodles, KB pulls out their phone and hold it near a watch on Leech's wrist. A quiet beep emmits from the phone and Leech groans and shakes his head. Martin and Jennifer watch the following exchange in astonishment
Leech: (now way grumpier) Took you long enough this time, kid.
KB: (shoulder shrugging and eating ramen) What can I say? I had a long night.
Leech: Some punk asked me to grill sushi for them!
KB: (Types something on the laptop) Sounds tasty. Remind me to get some later. (Notices Jennifer and Martin staring, but doesn't quite recognize them from the previous night) Hey, are you two alright?
Before either Martin or Jennifer can say something. Police junior Officer Griff Tannen with a few other police officers enters the café.
Griff: McFly!
Martin and KB automatically turn their heads towards Griff. KB closes their laptop shut behind them as Griff approaches them.
Griff: Didn't I tell you to never come back here, you wannabe YouTuber?
KB: (clearly irked, but still performatively polite) Last time I checked, the purchase and consumption of Ramen was still legal, officer.
Griff: Are you being small with me, McFly?
KB: (clearly lying) No, sir! I would never even dream about it.
Griff: (clearly angry) Last night I got reports in about superstitious activities near the closed power plant in sector T-P. (roughly shoves KB) You wouldn't happen to know something about it, do you?
KB: (rubs shoulder) I have no idea what you're talking about.
Griff: (pulls KB by their turtleneck and forces them to look at him) I know you're up to something, McFly. And sooner or later I'll prove it. (Notices Jennifer and Martin staring at them) What are you looking at, Buttheads?
Martin and Jennifer exchange a confused glance. Griff sniffs around in the air and makes a face.
Griff: When was the last time you showered, McFly? You stink to high hells!
KB: My shower malfunctioned this morning, sir. (It's actually from visiting George last night through the sewer system.)
Griff: (Lets go of KB) Then go and get cleaned up! And McFly?
KB: Yes?
Griff: There is a stain on your uniform.
Just as KB looks down to check their clothes, Griff flicks against their nose.
KB: Ouch!
Griff: (clearly enjoying this) Don't be so gullible, McFly! Or else I might have to give you a demerit for that. And if I catch you here again, I'll have to give a demerit for disturbing the public peace.
KB: Understood, officer.
With that Griff leaves KB alone and goes with the other police officers out of the internet cafe. KB flips the bird after them behind their back and returns to their laptop, to work on whatever they were working on before. Martin and Jennifer keep on staring at KB. They don't look even remotely like they might be related to Martin.
KB: (noticing the stare) What?
Jennifer: Why did he call you McFly?
KB looks at her, like she just asked the most stupid question possible. But looking at Martin and Jennifer again, something clicks inside KB's head.
Leech: It's because KB is the only one, looking after that old cuckoo McFly.
KB: Don't call him that! He is just a bit paranoid, that's all.
(some more expository dialogue that's supposed to reveal that Marty and Jennifer are basically seen as urban legends there, because of their time jump.)
