Dib’s mom head canon
Dib’s mom died in childbirth (due to complications involving Dib ENORMOUS head).
After she died  Professor Membrane temporarily went a little insane and was desperate for a way to bring his wife back.
Membrane even went as far as to conduct a  séance to try to talk with his wife, but when he didn’t see her, he turned his back on the paranormal and supernatural vowing never to believe in it again.
However, Dib’s Mom did appear at the séance, but only to Dib (who at the time was less than two years old) though Dib doesn’t fully remember this happening he knows that ghosts are real and that’s why he is so completely determined to investigate the paranormal
Still not able to accept the idea of living the rest of his life with out his beloved wife,  Gabrielle, Membrane used her DNA to make a clone of her, creating the female in his lab and making a baby girl. He started the project calling her Gabby2, then, because short hand, Ga2, and then Gaz because membranes handwriting makes his 2s look like Zs.
This is also why the relationship between Dib and his dad is so strained and Membrane is so close with Gaz.
Gaz has no idea that she’s a clone and Membrane does see her as his daughter rather than his wife’s clone
