Is the word "wench" closer semantically to the "woman" or to the "girl"?

‘Girl’, I would think, although it’s a derogatory term for ‘prostitute’ also (not that the P word isn’t already derogatory, vs. sex worker)

Channel 4’s Daytime favourite, Countdown, is changing with the times.
