Today is the anniversary of Mary Shelley’s death (b. 30th August, 1797). Shelley (British author) is best-known for her first novel, ‘Frankenstein’ (1818), but she also authored some other incredible works of literature. As 'Frankenstein’ is a Generally Gothic favourite, and this year marks the 200th anniversary of its publication, there is a new article (part 1 of 2) up on the site now!

Born this day (December 4th), 1875, poet & author, Rainer Maria Rilke (d. 1926). In a letter to Fraulein Ellen Gregori, dated August 3rd 1957, Carl Jung (1875-1961, founder of analytical psychology) noted the following: "[...]Rilke drew from the same deep springs as I did - the collective unconscious. He as a poet or visionary, I as a psychologist and empiricist. [...] I cannot escape the feeling that for all his high poetic gifts and intuition Rilke was never quite a contemporary. [...] Often he reminds me of a medieval man: half troubadour, half monk.
