It’s time to finish our M is for Mozart event, here at Musica in Extenso with the grandiose finale of Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute), the last opera of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a huge work filled with human emotions like brave and courage, love and respect, good and evil. I can’t stop myself, I’m literally crying when I listen to this part... anyway, good will always win over the evil.

A mash-up between Mozzy and 90s videogames

So apparently someone came up with the idea to stage Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" as a 90s videogame.... and well... it's the best thing I've seen in a while to be honest!

Mario is Papageno Link is Tamino Donkey Kong is Sarastro

Lyrics are in English and have been changed to match the setting... and it’s hilarious!

Let’s continue our M is for Mozart Week, here at Musica in Extenso! Our main subject for this event is The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte). 

One of my favourite parts from the whole opera is Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen, the famous duet of Pamina and Papageno. After the two young meets, they sing about love, about the relationship between man and woman. Mozart gave a wonderful and splendid music for this part of the libretto, focusing on the soprano and baritone voices to highlight their vocal abilities.

We are at the finale of this special M is for Mozart Week, here at Musica in Extenso. Let’s continue our journey with The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte), we will go directly to the second act finale, to the trials. This is my favourite part, because Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote here an unbelievable duet part for the main characters, Pamina and Tamino. They are trying to win over the evil and to pass the trials. It’s a majestic moment, please enjoy this wonderful music.

Finaly, tomorrow we'll start rehearsing again for Die Zauberflöte directed by Romeo Castellucci.

Can't wait to see the people that I've met in Brussels and also to meet al the new people from the cast in Lille!!
