I am simply trying to evolve - costume progress
Please help me figure out how to make a cover for my digilegs... I'm not skilled in any of the things that go into it, so I'm trying to basically figure it out from scratch while referencing fursuiting and clothesmaking and such.
Here's my current mockup:
Some of the bigger points of concern:
I want to smooth out the visible structure of the stilts and protect them from damage, so my current idea is to use some kind of thin foam. The foam wouldn't be stretchy, so is there really any point in specifically using a stretch fabric for the cover? Would the foam flex properly?
The toes will also be made of foam, and will need to bend while walking. How quickly will they get worn down that way? The resting position will be different from the standing position. Is that going to work okay?
Will the legs be secure enough? It's important the cover doesn't shift while I'm moving. How do I make sure that doesn't happen?
Will the tread at the bottom be good enough?
Will I be able to slide the foot of the stilts into the cover if there's a zipper on the back?
How badly will the feet get stained if I wear them outdoors?
Can I use hard claws without worrying about them scratching up people's floors and upholstery?
I've been looking at fabrics to use for the cover, and so far spandex has been looking pretty good in terms of appearance and stretch. I'm planning on sewing on markings in a separate color, which is going to be hell probably. And then I'm going to cover most of it up with clothes ✨️
Honestly if this was just for costume purposes I would probably be a lot less picky about the result, but it's supposed to be my legs, so even if I'm going to be wearing clothes over them I would really like to avoid weird, uncanny things like being able to see the shape of the stilts through the fabric.
But most of all I'm worried about the mechanics of it. I would hate to make something that looks good only to find out that it has some fatal flaw that makes it unusable.
🎃2025 highlight reel of my beloved costume!🎃
Took her to a trunk or treat, had a blast, but the real fun was at the mall where I won my first costume contest (they decided to invent a second 1st place slot just for me and now I have a delightful gift card to show for it) couldn’t have done it without the support of my friends and family, thank you 🫀
It's been a bit, but a photographer at bodyhack took a couple photos of @kaillix and I. Later, I saw one posted to the bodyhack Instagram page, and asked the photographer for copies, and was given them. You can find the photographer's website here! Can't wait for October to roll around again!

Sorry if this is to broad of a statement but how do you draw anthro legs and paws? I'm always having trouble with it and you seem to draw them so seamlessly. Do you have any tips or pointers?
bottom two tutorials are done by RemyWolf! they draw super cute paws!
these are the only ones i know that were helpful imo! im picky with paws xD
~ Since 2014 I havent changed my cover photo I finally finish it! Here's Dia and Doc my OC's <3
