A Brief Statement/Headcanon about the Aligned Continuity
Rescue Bots, Prime and RID2015 are supposed to be in the same continuity, right? They really tried to make it obvious by having Sideswipe and Blurr show-jump in the last seasons of their respective series’, despite there being a LOT of continuity errors between Prime and RB.
At least one person has pointed out that in TFP’s episode “Nemesis Prime,” Optimus informs his team that he was out of communicator range because he was in an underground Energon Mine, which may have been when he and the Rescue Bots were trapped underground in the RB episodes “What Lies Below” and “What Rises Above.”
That being said, when I pointed out that they were supposed to be the same universe, my little sister pointed out that aside from Rescue Bots, we never see nor hear about Optimus’ dinobot mode. There are some cases where it might have been handy in the other series, and him being a triple-changer seems like something that should have been at least referenced.
I know that it wasn’t referenced because the production and writing teams didn’t think it was necessary, but in the spirit of the fandom, I came up with a reason in-canon that would explain this lack of reference.
When Optimus was dying in the beginning of TFP Beast Hunters, Smokescreen uses the Solus Hammer to restore him. This not only restored him, but upgraded him to where he needed to scan a new vehicle mode because the previous semi-truck mode wouldn’t work anymore. My theory is that when that upgrade occurred, he lost the T-Rex form he’d had previously as well, and after the fiasco in “Big Game,” he had no desire to regain it if it wasn’t necessary.
Even if he hadn’t lost it then, then the upgrade the Primes gave him in the end of Season 1 of RID2015 probably would have stripped him of it too.
