mickey who struggles with self harm. not even because he hates himself, but he needs to feel something. to numb his urges to hurt other people, especially roman. and then roman who never yells, never even looks at him differently. just sits down with him and holds his hands in his. no words spoken between them, just a silent understanding of their existence and their suffering.

Mickey Altieri is a violent mess. He does not love, he doesn’t cry, he doesn’t feel.

Mickey learned what he was from a young age. He wasn’t unsettled, wasn’t sad. But he knew he was different. And he’s okay with that.

Sometimes Mickey gets tired. All he wants to do is drop to his knees and close his eyes. Dig his nails into the dirt and scream.

But Mickey is a weapon, and weapons don’t sleep.

Sometimes Mickey wants to form a connection. He watches couples laugh and hold hands. Why can’t he do that? Every time he loves someone he ends up hurting them. Ends up driving them away. Mickey wants a partner in crime.

But Mickey is a weapon, and weapons don’t love.

Mickey is wild and free, he is nothing more than a perfect solider. Mickey Altieri was built to fight, so he’ll fight.

One time Mickey met this beautiful man. This man had love, fame, leisure. He was everything Mickey wished he had. That man was perfect.

Roman Bridger is a rotten man.

Roman Bridger is dirty and unlovable, his blood is different than everyone else’s. He was built to lie his way into people’s lives. Nobody would ever love him for him, so he built a persona.

Roman had never experienced true love, platonic or romantic, so how was he going to give it? Every relationship was a fling or hookup, every kiss was hollow, every touch was empty.

Roman is rotten, so the only love he can give is rotten.

Roman has fame, he has articles written about him, he has cameras flashing in his face, he has movies and fans and interviews, but it’s all fake. They aren’t writing about the real Roman Bridger. They’re writing about the persona he puts out to the public. Even though his name is everywhere, he doesn’t feel famous. He feels fake.

Roman is rotten, and he can’t let anyone else know that.

Roman acts innocent, he acts aloof, he acts like he’s just another director, but the rot has twisted around his body and taken control of him. And he will never escape it.

One time Roman met this charming man. He had jokes, he had friends, he had authenticity. Roman wished he could be as free as that man.
